I made myself a walking stick and cane similar to that one last summer with the 'swirling' rings. Not as nice looking as that, but since Oct of 2022, I have had to use the cane many times and I never had any idea that I would. I still cannot walk well, but hope to be able to do so soon so I can get back to my wood projects, too! *Billy Allen ll, F.Book :)
Wow didn't expect that from you, Nice change though. It must have taken you a few hours and those carving burrs don't take prisoners if your not careful 🤣🤣👍.
I don’t know about that species, but most species I encounter are a heck of a lot easier to strip the bark with a knife while it’s freshly cut, then dry it.
Hi I’m making a bird table and the post I’m going to use for the stand isn’t completely straight I was thinking of trying to use your method on the post to make it more interesting, Do you think it would work any suggestions would be appreciated
"At the end of the day it's just a stick." Great line.
Just a stick is correct 👌
Looks great, mate. God bless you and your family. Lee
Thank you 😊
nice to see your branching out 😊
i made one and used some acorn leafs off a tree as templates
for the stick and carved around them
Branching out..🤣🤣you stick to your metal projects 😁👍
Cool technique. I like it. Looks like a lot of work. Good job.

Thanks Peter, it was a nice wood to carve in the end, not the staff I had in mind but we got something at the end..🤣🤣
I've done the same basic thing but instead of using the dremel I used a wood gouge on one and a pocket knife on the other one.
Thanks Robert 😁 👍

Definitely, I cut it down and forgot all about it at the back of the shed..it had plenty dust on it..🤣
I think it is from a wild olive tree with a very hard wood...you know all olive tree varieties are grafted on a wild one.
@@user-vm3bo6eq1d it's definitely from a hollybush I cut it myself 👍

Cool idea,it's alot of work at the time but the end result will look different, and I like different..
It looks great, maybe put a leather lace on the top.
Cheers Mark I did think about the leather lace, it nearly had a skull on top..🤣👍
@@fishtank5050 that would have been really cool.
Would you say a single Dremel burr was enough to carve the whole staff after you removed the yellow tape? Do you remember?
Yes a single bit will do the whole piece, then sanding drums to sand with 😁👍
@@fishtank5050 Awesome, thanks!!
