I think you're right. I personally feel that from the way they enjoy each others company, if they spend more and consistent time together, interacting, they'd definitely develop proper feelings for each other. They just can't see it right now cos it's early, and they have these predefined notions in their heads of what they believe is their "spec" so they're almost forcing themselves to refuse the chemistry between them.
