i know cities all across america always get negative press all the time, remember the dayz when american cities thrived and were powerhouses of industry and commerce and any thing a human needed they could find, any and all services a resident needed it was always there weather a person was poor weathy or in the middle all the residents had resources available to help in times of crises.

I’m from Chicago and I want to see all of these pics. I am amazed at the frozen in time element here. This is like a companion piece to the physical exhibits at the Milwaukee Public Museum.

I moved out of Milwaukee with my family in 1977. So that's the only Milwaukee I know. Apparently it completely changed? That's why I never visit.

I am 36 and have lived in Milwaukee all my life and it sucks they didn't have much as far as video cameras in the old days. Would have liked to see Milwaukee from the 1800s with each decade to the present including all of the suburbs. Be so fascinating

Yeah, we still had the plugged-into-the-wall phones with dials like they show in old black and white movies and some of us still had party-lines on those phones.

Relating to the photo of 3rd and Wisconsin from the 1970s, I used to wait at the bus stop on that corner to catch the No. 19 bus to the South Side when I was going to college and working downtown part-time as a messenger for Chicago Title Insurance Company. It’s a great personal historical memory. Also amazing how things have changed there, too.

    The Army station
Me in Monterey California when I saw the Monterey Bay I said I'm never going back to Milwaukee. I've made Monterey my home. But Milwaukee is where I will always be from. These pictures are my memories of my hometown.

@@FATMAN162x When I moved out of Milwaukee many years ago the winters were the main reason I knew I wouldn't move back. That was before crime was bad. Now Milwaukee is one of the most crime infested cities in the U.S (which is really sad to me) yet another reason not to move back. Although I still look back fondly to my childhood years there.
