As a former Kentucky state trooper, sometimes we had electronic equipment in our cars that would whine with the engine. So you could actually hear the whining through a county radio or even a CB. However, it was an electronic wine. I can’t see the Kentucky State police having superchargers on their engines, except for possibly their Mustangs and Camaro. I could be wrong. It’s been about 14 years for me.

I was born and raised in Kentucky. I left and joined the Marines, after which I joined L.A. County Sheriff's department. This was during the wild 80's, right when crack first hit the scene and gang banging was at its peak. I eventually ended up back in Kentucky during the 90's and looked into joining KSP. A KSP officer kept it real with me because I was amazed at how the city, state and county cops couldn't talk to each other over the radio. This was back when each department allowed politics to get in the way of common sense. In Cali, we had one channel that we could come up on during a pursuit, that was pretty much state wide. Once we left out jurisdiction, we could come up on that channel and every police unit in the state could hear us. The KSP officer told me that not only did they not have anything like that but also, you may find yourself in a situation where your backup might be 20-minutes away. Add to that that, in some parts of Kentucky, they not only may have an issue with your badge, they may also have an issue with your skin color. Because of factors like these, KSP gets to do things that city and local departments would not necessarily get away with. Made perfectly good sense to me because you could easily find yourself on an island out in the middle of nowhere. I decided to wait until everyone got their heads out their asses before I stuck my neck on the line. By the time they did, I had went back to college and got a engineering degree and decided that I like money more than I liked getting shot at.. KSP don't play, but that's a young man's job. I've done messed around and found common sense and left my crazy back in my younger days. But hey, I had fun while it lasted! 😊

But to be fair the Impala is an electrical mess, I need to replace like 4 different wires, shoot the whole harness should go at this point. So could very well be electrical too, I've heard a whine from the radio in my buddies old mustang, it was very different whine from this one imo
