The canyon scenes remind me of a movie: Birds of Prey, that came out in 1973. A great movie featuring two helicopter pilots chasing each other through desert canyons, great flying scenes throughout the movie. Thanks for showing the video without any annoying music.

Nice footage. I flew (as aircrew) civilian MedEvac rotor, and AF Reserve 46F3 on 130's. Rumor has it we've done a bit of good vis, daytime NOE in the river valleys of Western PA, wink wink. Back then most of my PIC's were Vietnam era rotor guys, so go figure. Great way to blow off steam after that "bad" call. Fly, Fight, Win!

This is a very specific training area! For safety reasons, we have to survey them for low level use.
This sound is engrained in my brain. Admittedly, I do miss flying.

does the collective say in place after you pull it up or are you constantly having to hold it in place like you would a gas pedal in a car? Also does that increase the RPM to climb or is it changing the pitch of the blades to climb faster or slower?
We have a collective trim and it will typically stay in position! That just changes the pitch on the blades and the engines automatically spool up to meet the additional demand (due to drag of increased pitch).

On the nose of the Black/Pave Hawk underneath the windshield, it looks like there are two cyclinder shaped protrusions sticking out at 45 degree angles. Can someone tell me what those are for? I'm guessing it's got something to do with a missile approach warning system but I could be wrong.

We do, it's just a radar altimeter though. In this case it's set at 50' AGL and if we descend lower, it will warn us.

Is there a reason you choose helos over Fixed wing?
@F-15 Hurler Helo pilots in the USAF are the minority though, especially for Pararescue.
@F-15 Hurler I'm really surprised it's that difficult to get fighters. I had a friend commission directly into F-16s without going through ROTC/Academy or having prior flight experience.
