(Sorry my english is not perfect). Its a good idea Scott! Would like to see this. Its would be interesting if you can describe your modifications. You know its nice to see people taking care of "older" bike. For me the golden age of the sportbike is 1996 to 2003. It was in those years that we had the most beautiful models. Its sad to see them disappearing slowly. I have a 2003 Zx-7r and a 1998 Cbr900r and i don't want to sell them for newer bike. I would like to have one those nice 2000-01 R1. Here in Canada i can get one for 3000$ 30k-40k kilo. Its nice i think. Its really affordable and low cost in insurance (150$ / year). Anyways the age of the bike his not important. Everything can be repair. You live in Europe right? I saw your license plate on your truck (lol). Hey lot of success in your R1 project Scott!
The best years for sports bikes. The ZX7R is beautiful! Yes, I'm from England. I will describe the modifications on my next video, there are a lot of them! ;) Cheers!
I had it in red. Bought it brand new from a dealer. The most comfortable, powerfull and fun to ride motorcycle. The torque of that engine was always making me smile. Every time you twist the throttle the beast wakes up regardless of rpm. Changed then to 2004 which looked fantastic but lost the engine characteristic. Miss the 2001,
I do too,so bad! And this was the bike i wanted back when. I bought a brand new 03 silver and black but wasn't as crazy about it as i was the 01. Damn😖
I just purchased a 01 blue r1 and it's just like the 2000 that I had for 10 yrs I love the old school look and I can and will do my own maintenance on this one too.
Blessed July 2022!!! I jus bought same year color! Garage kept low miles 6,100 miles LIKE NEW! I’m riding loving every minute of it!!!! My Christmas in July and my early Birthday president!
I'm betting it was just a bit fluffy because it was cold, the temp gauge was still reading "Lo", once up to temp the fueling on these is flawless. (when stock)
I have the exact same year and colour, its only done 14,000 kms (about 8700 miles), its got an Arrow can, Ohlins shock, steering damper (same as this bikes) and Ohlins forks, apart from that its all stock, and mint.😄
@@uhtred7860 Damnn. I found an 01 r1 great looking condition with 5700 miles for $3700. Should I do it? It’s been sitting for 12 years. Not sure what might have to be done to it, the guy says he had it serviced and fluids changed
@@byrek8975 If they are genuine miles (check it hasn't been raced) i'd grab it. The carbs will need removing and insides fully cleaned if its been sitting that long, Did he have it serviced before or after the lay up? if before change ALL fluids, oil, coolant, brake fluid. Make sure the fuel pump and filter are good, (just replace fuel filter, they cheap) tyres might be dodgy after 12 years. But yeah, grab it, they are fast becoming a classic. @@uhtred7860 damn bro, funny law. But yeah dawg he sent me a pic of the title which read 1 owner and 5700 mileage, but it was issued in 2011. So he must’ve barely rode it in the past 12 years at all. He says it’s indoors on a battery tender and he’s changed parts to it because somebody must’ve “sat on it and dropped it”. But by the pictures the thing looks new. It has aftermarket chrome gas tank and chrome clutch/oil covers + aftermarket chrome handle grips. But the frame looks spotless with no scratches. Tough to tell if he’s truthful or a good liar. He says it has a brand new clutch and battery and an air horn. Not sure why the clutch would have to be new if it was barely ridden… But anything else I should look out for when I go to check it out? Tires also are worn will def need to be changed. He says $3700 but I wanna get him down to 3k in person. He did a tuneup on it and “did another part that it needed cuz it wouldn’t start which costed another $300 to get it running good”
Buying this on the 29th in the Philippine for 8 months stay does this bike feels fast? I mean I did check the hp 150 or 129 I think with 70 ft tq , I never had 1000cc only drove Ducati 749 for 1 year
Completely normal, this happens because the oil in the engine drags between the gears :P Happens on all bikes on a paddock stand unless they have no oil, or the rear brake is rubbing. Hope this helps :)
The one you're talking about I think goes up to a servo near the carbs! A lot of these bikes get converted to slip on and the servo removed, so if you're looking to hook up the original exhaust, there's a good chance you won't be able to connect those cables back up
Bought one with original pipe. Did some transmission work but when i put bike back togather forgot where that cord goes. Now shes popping when rideing im guessing that cord burns unused gas??.
@@devone744 nope the cables pull the exup valve open and closed. I assume because they're not connected now, the exup valve is stuck open. This will cause your bike to bang and pop, you will need to adjust your fuelling to suit this or adjust your cables correctly!
What an awesome bike. 2000-01 is the best looking R1 ever.
Cheers.
Thank you! Once my engine rebuild is done, I will reupload the video with all the new extras that are on the bike :)
