Nice video coverage on the Tele, thank you. I'd like to suggest looking up "67 smugglers tele" to get an idea of what that's all about. You'll see that it refers to a much larger cavity than wiring channel we see on this one. Cheers 👍
The fretboard is veneer, not slab. Slab is flat to the maple portion of the neck. The "smugglers cavity" isn't. This channel was on all Teles to make running the neck wires to the control plate. The "smuggler's cavity" cavity was a much larger chambered area that hollowed out most of the area under the pickguard. It was an early attempt to lighten bodies before the Thinline Tele. CBS did this prior to '68 and probably only in '67 on ash bodies. What you have is a highly accurate reissue of a '63 Tele. It probably should have a touch more red in the burst, and the dots could be a bit more white. Other than that, it's dead on.
My squier classic vibe 60s has the thin radius cut veneer of rosewood as well. I was wondering why they used thin on it and emailed fender. Was told basically what you Said. Squier actually used spec on those lines.
1:52 You said, "Big ol' slab of rosewood," and I just thought I'd clarify the fingerboard switched from slab to laminate a year or two before these. Don't quote me on it, but they should be.
I just bought a 2018 fender player telecaster, butterscotch. I wasn't in butterscotch but the price was right. Great guitar and after cleaning it up, butterscotch is 👍‼️
I am sitting on the fence for this, your review is encouraging. At the same time, I heard a lot negative of the quality of this series. The sample you tested is from 2024, this might mean that newer ones might be better in quality..
That absolutely sounded amazing I have an American performer Telly so not in the market for one but I am definitely in the market to get a set of those pickups. As it happens I also looking to get my wife another bass to go with a Fender Mustang so I'll be sure to use you're affiliate links what I do both. Love the channel man.
@Play and Trade, if you had to choose right now, would you get an Epiphone Les Paul Studio, Classic Worn, Studio, or Modern? Money being equal. Thanks!

Sound is incredible.
Very nice guitar and playing
Loving all the Tele reactions. Fantastic job. Even dropping the Pic was great. Looking forward to your next breakdown.

exactly, I was about to correct him on the 'smugglers cavity'. Come on man, this guy should know this. basic tele info.
Hey guys let’s hurry up and get this channel to 100k so I can win my new Martin 😉 🎸
Sounds awesome🎸🎸 Great review John & Zack!!
extra nice playing on this one. could tell the guitar was good just from that.
Haha! Zack "perfect size for a joint.."
That was hilarious!
Great review guys!
I love Tele's!!
Sounds like you have dialed in new tones John?....Love it!!

You should do a comparison between this fender telecaster ⤴️ to a G&L FULLERTON ASAT CLASSIC ‼️👍
Telecaster my favorite

My weakness are an telecastor
It's a country thing
It's a guitarist thing
This or player ii ?? Which do you prefer ?
If I could choose between both, definitely Vintage II. Closest I've found to Vintage II is actually Vintera II by the way. Thanks for watching
Please review fender vintera ii telecaster deluxe
As far as I know it's a nitro lacquer over a poly undercoat.
