I grew up in Arcara....went to preschool at Redwood Park near where you shot this video. What an amazing sight, climbing up the trees and that view up above. Thank you!
Thanks! I've lived in Arcata for the last 10 years and on Humboldt hill before that since 1989. I love this area! It's so cool to be able to fly around now and get awesome aerial shots. Check out my Aerial Video playlist to see more local locations from the air.

At first i thought someone was flying in the air holding a camera but then at the end i realised it was a drone lool dumb me. Beautiful forest!
Wow Chad... This is exactly the type of footage I hope to get. My wife and I invested in an XP2 for the sole purpose to include scenery in our cooking videos, to show folks the amazingly beautiful places we cook and camp. Would love to meet up with you sometime, we're in Eureka. Having seen your stuff on Loco, I've only about a "gagillion" questions!!! LOL

Hi Dean, this is actually an XPX carrying an NEX-5r camera, so the image looks a bit better than a GoPro. I've sent my Silk gimbal in to get some upgrades, then I'll be flying a GH4 camera. The best advice I can give you is to go out often and shoot aerial video, then edit it. Repetition and making ones own mistakes is the only way to get better.

Thanks! The A6000 looks like a cool little camera. It may have some moire issues. SHoot some rooftop shingles to check.

Thanks JB! We have a lot of trees here so I get lots of practice. I've seen Paul's review of the goggles and 3D camera, and I would love to try that out. I've got too much other stuff to buy now, but at some point I may just try some 3D FPV. For now it's much safer to have a monitor on my chest, and have the option to use lone of sight so see what's happening around the quad. I've hardly crashed since I went that rout.

Kerie Roark Just looked. The image looks nice. I've been experimenting. I just tried GoPro settings: 400iso limit, protune, 55000WB, medium sharpness, and -1.5 contrast, and got an image that was great for color grading. Using an ND4 BlurFix Air. If it wasn't totally sunny I would bump up the iso to 1600.

I love my XPX and Silk gimbal. They are working on upgrading the Silk now, but man the XPX is really nice. What you see here is right off the camera - no post stabilization. Granted it helps that there was no wind. I'm waiting for them to get some new parts before I upgrade the Silk and start flying my GH4 camera.

@ChadWork1 arcatia is super nice but I am moving to eureka because it seems more affordable and is only 10 minutes way from arcatia. Do you think this is a good idea? Lots of people say bad things about eureka but it.honestly looks amazing to me and plus I can easily get to arcata from there. I have an airbnb purchased for October until December, and in my time in the airbnb i.hope to find an apartment for rent
