    Always have Avon Skin so Soft with you in Scotland. Spray it on and it keeps the midges away. Also smells great. Great videos!

    As good as it sounds you might want to do a head to head comparison of this with Arran 18 (the new one) and possibly with GlenDronach 18 (old one 😉).

    Can you mention which duty free your friend was traveling through to pick this bottle up at 150 pounds? I recently traveled through rio de janeiro and managed to pick this bottle up in their duty free but it was closer to $250. It's an absolute dream and I'm already trying to plan another trip somewhere that I can maybe pick up a few more of these on the way home.
    Also, give another travel exclusive a try is the Aberfeldy 16 and 21 both finished in Madeira casks. They are quite superb!

    As always MA an enjoyable and honest review. £150+ for an 18 yr old, for me too much. The most I’ve payed for an 18 year old malt was €108 (Glendronach 18, a 2018 bottling ) . Prices for the majority of 18’s are going through the roof. Islay fun is over now it’s back to reality 😀, slàinte

      Hey David! Prices are definitely going through the roof but I think the Glendronach 18 is still good value for money.

      @@MaltActivist I’ve been looking in the internet and various shops lately at the prices of 18 +yrs single malts and I’m glad I’ve got a nice stash that I bought a few years ago at decent prices . Still AnCnoc 18 and Deanston 18 are still affordable and there on my to buy list. Enjoy your weekend. Slàinte. PS. when you think that I bought my first Glendronach 18 it was less than €80

    How does it compare with the Macallan 18 sherry oak or the double oak?

    • @MaltActivist
      @MaltActivist  2 роки тому +1

      I honestly feel that the older bottlings of the Macallan 18 Sherry Oak are very good compared to this. The 18 Double Oak is not as good though.

    Have you tried heard anything about the 17 year Sherry Cask (first fill) from 2007? It was a limited release. They're going for $800+ at auction and I just picked one up for $200 at a local liquor store (was all dusty in the back hahah). Debating if I should crack it or stock it in the collection. Cheers!!

      That whisky is probably the best Balvenie I have ever tasted. I have a little left some where. If you managed a bottle for $200 you're one lucky man!!!

      @@MaltActivist Are you serious?? I was wondering because online people haven't given it the best reviews (no youtube reviews, but on forums, etc), and also its 43%. Wow I'm so happy right now haha. I'm going to crack it! Cheers!

    compared to balvenie 15 single barrel sherry, do you find a big difference?

    • @MaltActivist
      @MaltActivist  Рік тому

      I quite like both. Though I feel the 18PX is a more balanced dram. Could be because of the extra 3 years.

    Compare to Arran18 which is better bro

    • @MaltActivist
      @MaltActivist  Рік тому +1

      Good question. Both have merits but if price is a factor then Arran 18 is a better choice.

    In my opinion there is no need to compare the Balvenie 18 PX with the Glendronach 18. The Glendronach smashes the Balvenie. I also believe that the Arran 18 is also superior to the Balvenie 18 PX. Not in the realm of the Glendronach 18, but still better.

      You know Cliff I'd have to agree! But I think I'm going to make a video anyway. I mean who doesn't want to drink three or four 18 year old whiskies for academic purposes?

    This one is not as much good as our taster presents. Haven't surprised me at all. Tha taste is very flat, only a bark and sweetness. The alcohol 48.7abv this time haven't played a positive role, moreover a negative, because it burns the palate and down to the stomach, need to add water, must. And price is not cheap for duty free about 200$ plus.

      Really? You know I smell from my nose and taste from my palate right? Not my ears.
