I’m drinking from the same well as DC. If Tom could channel his inner Chael this would be even more true. Tom has the real belt. He is the real champion of the hw division. Jon took the belt from a guy who didn’t have it and lost to the guy who did. He will have defended his let twice before the “champ” defends it once to a guy who is all but retired. He needs to be selling that he’s the only champ and is going to “wreck” the real number 1 contender at UFC 304. Make even the casuals believe Jon is a paper champion. Only way Tom gets the fight with Jon before Stipe is if Stipe slips on a firehose and gets sidelined.
Only way Tom gets that fight is if Stipe gets hurt right fucking now and Tom knocks the brakes off Curtis (and he will) and call out Jon in front of that home UK crowd. If he calls out Jon and Stipe is off the table, that fight gets booked. No fucking way we wait a whole nother year to rebook it again.

To be fair to DC. He’s not wrong, like it would be an entirely fucked up thing to do to stipe, even if Tom had some crazy KO or something like that in his next fight. That's the whole reason they did they IC without offering it to Stipe.

pereira vs aspinall wont happen until danas sucked enough money out of them both. At this point they both seem like undefeatable monsters who get early stoppages, and thats really where they get their pull from. Its better to have two of them in the organisation than have one flat line the other in the second round.
