Drove a Front wheel drive "Datsun"- small car, my wife and our oldest son- who's now almost 45 to the tunnel station in the early 1980's - long before the Palisades collapse.
My family and I visited the tunnel in the early 1990's, the Palisades was blocked by a rockslide then, but as we were on dirt bikes and atv's, we were able to traverse it without too much difficulty.
The Alpine Tunnel....One of my favorite places in the world!
I agree!!!
Wonderful video. Makes me want to bring my grandkids to the museum.
Thank you!
I have one of the original 1870s Denver South Park & Pacific railroad spike
Argentine Central goes up over 13,000, granted it was gone by 1918.

Very cool video. I viewed both sides on a CT hike and wondered if an engine and the crew are still in there. Thank you.
Fascinating!
Thanks for the lovely video... I wish they can rebuild the track again..
Awesome! Thank you. I never made it up there myself.
