Here "ecchi" is the story, the plot, the strength that develops the characters, eliminating the ecchi here means eliminating everything that makes this anime/manga special. And more or less ecchi is necessary in every manga/anime, this is what differentiates it from the dying Western cartoons/animation, Because when someone censors a pantyshot for fear of reactions, it cannot tell powerful, true/sincere, universal stories, but only western crap. Good stories need freedom, not censors.
