How’d you guys like the video?!
loved it while cleaning cages lol
@@PixelPit757 niceeeee. Thank you!
Loved it
@@brenleighbaggett9479 Thank you!! Im glad!
I would love to see a video on crested medical care. Like how to treat injuries, treatment after a dropped tail, respiratory infections, assisting a gecko with stuck shed, etc.
Fortunately I don’t have footage of most of that because I haven’t had those issues but I’ll make a note of it for sure!! Good ideas!!
Even though I’ve had one for five years I still watch every care vid possible incase there’s any advice I’ve missed out on, she’s still got her tail and runs to her tank door everytime she wants to be held/fed it’s adorable but I can still do better yk
I love that! That’s what everyone should do! Always learn and better your care! Great comment!!
I love all the geckos just chilling throughout the video lol.
Lazy little beans lol
Yes, please share something about dubia roach care tips 🙏🏼
I don’t breed them but I just have one crested gecko and the dubia roaches I buy come in 30+ counts each time, I want to make sure they are healthy and happy food for my gecko, when I keep them. Thank you so much for the helpful video!
I have it on my list of video ideas!! Thanks for the feedback!
This is super useful info! I'm gonna be getting a crested gecko this weekend at the upcoming reptile show and I've been doing as much research as I can! I'm going to try and find a super laid back one (less picky about colors or gender tbh). Thanks again for all the awesome info
Thanks! And congrats on your upcoming purchase!!
oh my gosh, i literally watched your care guide from last year yesterday! the timing couldn't have been more perfect! i'm planning on getting my first crestie in a few months, and I've been binging just about every care guide i can find in the mean time, lmao
thank you for making an updated guide! really informative!
That’s funny 😂😂 I really appreciate it though! Thank you for watching!
I've been researching awhile and just want to say how much I appreciate your in depth care coverage!
My son has been asking for one for over a year now. His birthday is coming up and it's finally going to happen for him. 🤗
PS: Before people yell at me for gifting a kid an animal I just want to say he was born into multispecies animal husbandry and LOVES researching so he knew more about lizards than I did by the time he was 8. I made him do a trial run caring for many of my critters and he absolutely nailed the responsibility. And just incase I am clearly also researching plus totally prepared to take it on in the event my son doesn't take it with him when he moves out...so the crestie has fall back care. Relax ❤
Thank you!
I see no problem gifting a child an animal. Especially with your thorough research and preparation. That’s amazing! Very good job. I wish more people were like that
@@tmreptile thanks we do our best ♥.
You definitely gained a new fan today! We have similar life goals lol minus the camels I'm taking the alligator route 🤣. But yeah you're funny and entertaining to watch. Literally watched the whole video and can relate to the focus bit 😆. Keep doing what you're doing glad to see people like you start blowing up online 🤗
@@amandaschell Well thank you very much! I really appreciate your kind words
I definitely want an alligator someday too!! so that’s hilarious. I just feel like if I put camels and alligators in my about section, people will think I’m crazy 😂
@@tmreptile lol pretty sure all animal people are just a little crazy 🤪 that's ok 😆
@@amandaschell Very true 😂😂
I love my crestie his name is grover after the percy jackson series
That’s a great name! Cresties really are amazing!
Getting ready to get a crestie and think this might be my favorite for the guides ive seen. Similar info but I feel like you did a lot better job of highlighting where your care habits differ from others, and why, and provided a nice chill vibe to the whole thing. Subbed and will definitely be checking out more videos, cant wait to see that camel.
What a great comment haha. Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed. And I can’t wait for the camel either, I’m so pumped 🐪
Nice video. Just wanted to mention for anyone considering uvb that it does not pass through glass so sitting in front of a window, having a glass tank cover, etc defeats the purpose. Even a screen cover will block it somewhat. I don't use it for my crested, but learned this in the past with other critters that needed it.
I just learned this the other day. UVA will pass through windows but uvb won’t. Thanks for the tip!
Spagnum moss is the best for lay boxes. When the females lay the egg in them they stay clean vs in dirt substrate. Also makes it easier to check if they are fertile imo
That’s what I use! You’re exactly right
Hey, thanks for sharing. My baby crested gecko drinks from her water dish, as well as a calcium dish.😊
No problem at all! I appreciate the support!
And that’s awesome!
great content.you ans my question my house bot same temp as yours great !!!I'm bot to set up a exo terra I got free as I said natural.branches , I been saving paper roles too 😅...lot of windows in my room.sun warms up rm fine
Let’s get these 🐫 🐪
Hell yeah 🔥🔥
i would like to see a video of things you would’ve done differently when you first got a crested gecko and why (:
That’s a good idea!
Great video! I understand keeping all your babies...lol 😀
Thank you! And right. It’s so hard letting them go 🥲
Like the vid a lot of info for new jacks
Thank you!
Bought.my first crested gecko today
Nice! Congratulations!
Camelids cannot live alone, they get ulcers if you only have one. Love this video, thank you!!!
I plan on getting 2! And thank you so much!!
Very useful and informative video :) ! looking forward to seeing the content moving forward :) just dropped a sub !
Thanks so much!! I appreciate the support 💪🏻
I absolutely love watching your videos and got my mom hooked too! Would love to see more videos of gathering eggs, talking about the stuck shed, babies hatching, looking at the juveniles in the shoebox enclosures, raising the dubias. I hate feeding the crickets and have found that she doesn’t always want them and then they end up dying in a day or two even if I threw in some veggies. Feeding your juveniles and adults dubias 😅. Where you put your eggs during incubation like where in your reptile room not the container they’re in lol.
VERY good ideas! I’ll write them down. And thank you!! That means a ton!!
@@tmreptile we were wondering what state your in too I can’t remember if you said in any videos? I’m in Wisconsin.
I love dalmations :D
They’re the best!!

What
Will you do an updated Leopard gecko care guide?! 😅
I have it on my future videos list!
I want one of the babies ❤ Please let me know . I love the Dalmation Spots to add with my other babies . I have a Tricolor Harlequin Lilly White Male & a Red Pinstripe Lilly White Female Both Bought them From Tikis Geckos.
I’ll make sure I make posts about it!! Those sound great!
nubbys special :)
She is!!
Dude. Badass video I learned a lot watching videos like this. Keep up the great work.
Thank you very much! Appreciate you!
Hey quick question. I took my baby crested to the vet yesterday and both docs said he's doing great, but one of them said they don't recommend insects right now at this age. I just started feeding him dubias last week. So far I've not heard it's bad to feed them insects at this age. Is that something you've heard about?
@@richardsanchez5444 How old is the baby? I usually wait until 40 days old to offer bugs. Anytime after that should be good!
@@tmreptile he's a little over 3 months about 4g I'm feeding him every other day, giving him Pangaea and insects once a week. Thinking about moving up to twice a week.
@@richardsanchez5444 Oh yeah, you definitely can feed it bugs. And 2 times a week would be fine!
Never seen a frog butt like that but I do know they can’t grow it back😞like the gargoyles can
Right! It’s just so weird
Everything in this vid is pretty solid info but the tank size is way too small, yea it works but imagine living in a 1 bed 1/2 bath studio apartment. It's too small, minimum is 12x12x18 for babies, 18x18x24 for juveniles, and 24x24x36 adult. Yea they can survive in a 16 gal and it's fine for juveniles but you choose how they live. So they can survive or thrive it's up to you on how they live.
This is bigger than most breeders keep pairs or even trios in. And I keep them alone other than breeding.
Do you think a 12x12x36 vertical tank would work with a crestie also great video
I feel like it needs to be bigger than 12x12 imo
@@tmreptileok thanks I’ll check for more but at least there will be plenty climbing space lol 😂
Would love to see that food making guide
Good to know! Thank you!
@tmreptile I'm just getting started in breeding and you have been so helpful keep coming with the content you have helped more than me I'm sure. Would also like to know how you feed the dubia to the geckos without just turning them lose in there enclosure? Thanks
@@davidwilke5151 I’m really glad I could help! I appreciate the support, it means a ton!
I have a whole video on how I feed picky geckos bugs, it’s got a lot of the same things I do in there. I will typically just tong feed. It takes longer since I have a lot but it’s nice to know exactly what your gecko is eating.
I’ll link that video for you below if you’re interested ⬇️

Awesome video you’re definitely my go to guy for info about cresties now. But 2 questions. I know cresties need tall enclosures but if i got one that’s wide but also decently tall would that still be okay? The length is 48’’ and the height is 21.’’ My other question was how can i keep the humidity steady? My current cage has like ventilation at the top and a clear plastic cover you can put on to keep humidity. But i keep spraying and it’ll go down within a few hours.
Thanks so much! That means a lot! Thanks for watching the video and thanks for the feedback!
That should be big enough for sure!
And as far as keeping the humidity high, that’s kinda what you want to happen. You want it to spike when you spray and slowly have a chance to dry before you spray again. Generally misting 1-2 times a day (depending on how wet it is) works very well for them!
@@tmreptile Ohh okay. Thank you!
@@bolt_Lxquid No problem!
I be hopefully getting a Crested gecko soon . My question is , how do they do with noise ? Lol I have 2 toddlers & I don't want to get a gecko just for it to be stressed all the time.
Good question haha. I would say (as with any animal) constant loud noise would be stressful. But if you have them in a different room, I don’t think it would be too loud for them unless everyone in the house is yelling 😂
They’re extremely adaptable. Some noise is okay! If/when you hold them, just try to make sure it’s relatively calm!
@tmreptile I mean it's not always noisy 😂 but I did plan on having them in my bedroom vs a common area where the kids usually are. Lol. I mean I figured I'd probably end up with a frog butt & that's fine I just don't want em too stressed. I'm generally a night owl so I was gonna try handling at night after eating
@@christina2101That should definitely be fine! I think you’re good!
I play music loud & all my gecko s🦎have there tails still
I know a breeder who has loud kids and keeps hers in the kitchen! Once they get used to it, they should be fine. They are very adaptable.
nubby is not a frog butt… she’s a hamster butt 🥹😂
True 😂
hey so i looked in my cresties tank today and a little artificial plant had green spots or mold on the bottom. what should i do about that?
Wash it for sure
@@tmreptile it’s on like the wood base of the plant would it stay wash off
i live in a country with a light cycle that changes a lot from summer to winter can i still do it with natural light?
I would try to get a cheap led on a timer but that’s up to you!
i got my first crestie almost 2 months ago and they always sleep on the ground? all day long they lay on the floor (in a food dish that doubles as a hide on the bottom) and then goes to explore at night but they fall off from the glass a lot which is worrying me. any experience or tips with this?
Congrats on your first one!! Very cool
Laying on the ground is common for sure. Mine lay in different spots all the time. As far as falling off the glass, do you have branches/climbing objects throughout the tank? Some are bad climbers though so if you’re including climbing branches then you should be good!
@@tmreptile yes it’s super cluttered in there with lots of hides, branches, plants :) guess i didn’t expect all that from an arboreal gecko! thanks!!!
It sounds like you’re doing everything good! No problem!
I want to see the 13 baby’s
How important is routine for your crested geckos specifically? Like I feed him and handle him regularly but what about cleaning his enclosure. I clean it during the day when he's asleep so I inevitably wake him up, is that ok or should I do it t night when he's awake? Does it matter?
I would try and stick with a similar routine but I don’t think it needs to be exact. As far as cleaning I think you can do it whenever you want. I find mine are more active at night and sleepy during the day so I like to clean during the day so they aren’t as crazy. It also helps to work with them during the day so they’re sleepier.
@@tmreptile gotcha. Thanks for the advice. You ever plan on raising or doing videos on leachies?
@@richardsanchez5444 I have a baby leachie I’m growing out rn. Her name is Gloria. Most of the time I show her, the videos/shorts didn’t do that well. If people want to see more of her I will!
@@tmreptile dude I'd love to see more of her. Also, maybe you've already done this, but can you make a video or post updates on how much weight your baby cresteds are gaining and how often, or how often they shed?
@@richardsanchez5444 good to know! And I’ll write that down, that’s a great idea!
Do you have a video on feeding? Especially babies! I have 2 that were hatched a month ago. They don’t like me handling him at all!
I’ll link some videos you might find helpful!
I don’t recommend holding/handling babies at all unless you HAVE to. For tank cleaning or something. Too many things can go wrong. I would wait to hold until they’re 10+g

Should I wait to order live insects? I really really didn’t want to have to deal with them. I had crickets for my chameleons. Nasty.
@@tmreptile I’m getting concerned. My babies only take a lick or two from a spoon then jump or crawl away. They don’t like being touched and they don’t eat from the bowl.
@@1rfisher Are you doing everything I recommended in the how I care for baby crested geckos video?
I don’t feed them off of a spoon everytime. Hardly ever actually. I give them the chance to find food in the water bottle cap on their own. I hardly ever hand feed anymore.
If you’re noticing poop everywhere, it means they’re eating. You might not always be able to tell from their food bowl that they’re eating.
As far as insects, maybe try starting a dubia roach colony if you don’t like crickets?
@@tmreptile they are in small tubs with paper towels on the bottom and vines, but I guess I need to go back and review
Lots of great info, pretty much only thing I disagree with is 66 quarts is about 16 gallons of space, minimum for an adult is 30 gallons. In fact, the new minimum as per the british herpetological society is closer to 50 gallons which more american hobbyists are beginning to agree with as well. I appreciate you emphasizing the importance of enrichment but there's no way I'd be able to keep an adult crested gecko in anything less than a 30 gallon (1.5 x 1.5 x 2 ft). I know breeders prioritize saving space over proper enclosure size but figured I should mention it for anyone thinking they should keep their gecko in something of that size.
The tanks are 23 inches by 16 inches by 13 inches. I wish they were taller but I think these work great. Especially how I use them. Lots of enrichment by adding tons of climbing branches and plants
Most breeders (including very well know people) use 55 qt totes and house trios in there. That’s what’s wild to me.
@@tmreptile I agree that breeders keeping multiple geckos (or any gecko at all) in something of that size is completely inappropriate. In terms of breeders you're obviously doing better than a lot of them with regards to keeping the animals together only to breed and giving them enrichment as well as a larger enclosure than a lot would. However the fact is that the size of that enclosure is not appropriate for an adult crested gecko which is my point for people watching this video (especially kids or people looking into getting their first gecko) thinking they can keep it in a 15 gallon tank/bin.
@@RsheissekopfI guess we just don’t agree
@@tmreptile Sure, I guess. Though it is well established in herp keeping communities that a 30 gallon is minimum tank size for a crested gecko, just like a 20 gallon long is the minimum tank size for a leopard gecko (though many prefer roughly 40 gallons as the ideal size these days). I think every care guide from the last several years will tell you the same thing. Back when I got my crested gecko the min was 18x18x24 inches (30 gallons) and that was 10 years ago.
@@Rsheissekopf I’m giving them 368 square inches of floor space while an 18 x 18 x 24 is giving 324 square inches. Not to mention I think I plan my tanks out well as far as branches and climbing space because of the lack of height. I’d prefer my tanks to be a little taller so hopefully one day they’ll make a taller version. But what I have going now is definitely big enough for 1 adult crested gecko in my opinion. Not to mention I don’t stick to the norm as far as gecko breeding and some of the tanks others have. I have significantly more enrichment. The only complaint I have is wishing the height was taller. But it’s definitely okay for 1 crested gecko imo
