It's really cool how you have made several videos on different techniques people can do to make wigs and wig caps! It sure helps out beginners figure out what's right for them
That's what I'm aiming for, so I'm glad you're enjoying it! A lot of the methods for wig creation are similar, but there are many ways to put them all together so I want to do what I can to show as many as possible.
Oh wow! What an incredible video! This was the most easy follow wig making video I have seen! Thank you so much for making this!!! Such an inspiration to the community! 🦄💕🦄💕🦄👏👏👏👏👏
This is very helpful...thank you! I skimmed through some of the videos in your wigmaking playlist and couldn't find where you detail how to make a hard wig cap. Could you tell me which one explains that?
hi, i'm french, your work is beautifull. May i ask you what sort of fabric do you use to stich the natural fibers with? thank you in advance for your answer. Caroline
Once the alpaca weft is sewn and the stabilizer removed, do you cut the excess hair that's been folded over before sewing the weft to a wig cap? Dolls are small scale and I worry not doing so would bulk the wig up. Would cutting the excess compromise the integrity of the weft? Since it's a natural fiber that has a cuticle, if I'm not mistaken, wouldn't the folded excess hair be running opposite to how the rest of the weft's hair is going? Would leaving the excess on and then brushing the wig (the hair shafts going in opposite directions) cause tangling? Please forgive me asking so many questions. I've not used natural fiber before for wig-making so I'm pretty in the dark when it comes to this.
I don't cut it because my dolls are larger, so I can get by with just adding fewer wefts and it doesn't change things. Despite the fiber's cuticle, it's best to leave it longer so that it's more resistant to having hair pulled from the weft. You get some pulled out no matter what you do, but this does help reduce it. I've gotten to work with some human hair wefts before and they're made this way as well. It doesn't seem to cause a whole lot of problems to have the strands laying in different directions, but that could be because they don't get handled a whole lot, being for dolls. :)
@@feliciaboston6365 No, it makes it more prone to tangling because the cuticle (or "grain direction" of the hair) would be running in opposing directions!
It's water soluble stabilizer. You can get it most places that sell fabric, it's designed to give fabrics more strength so they can be used in things like embroidery machines without stretching or tearing. :)
Some types of synthetic hair don't come in all colors, or don't have the same texture or feel of saran or nylon hair, which typically do not come in wefts. The orange hair I used in this video is actually leftover fiber from wefts that were far too long to use for a doll, but when you have a foot of fiber cut free, it'd be a huge waste to just throw it out. Knowing how to use the leftovers to make new wefts saves money and saves the synthetic trimmings from going to the landfill, too :)

This is great !!👍👍👍
I did not know where to get the hair strips for making wigs. Now i can make my own 😍

Thank you for your kindness!
Very helpful and informative, Thank You for sharing your technique!
This is amazing! Makes me want to try to make a wig myself too!
I don’t see a video of how I’m suppose to attach this to the doll. I’m just starting to make my first doll and I like this method over gluing.
great tutorial. thanks for adding the diy wig cap! :-)
This was very easy to follow thank you!
What an interesting method!!! I want to try this!

Oooh that's been a minute! I think it was this one: ua-cam.com/video/ZpOqoQDYXXA/v-deo.html - the more layers of glue you add, the harder it is.
@@LomisPlayground Thanks!! And yeah, I'm pretty late to the game! Just like to see all options because I'm curious like that.

I use water soluble stabilizer... it melts in water and leaves just the hair and thread :) Then it can be sewn to the stretch lace wig caps.
Brilliant I am trying to make a Harry Potter doll for granddaughter and how to do hair has had me puzzled. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the video it's helpful and I recently bought my sewing machine and will use for wig making.
I think you will enjoy it! Wigs are one of my favorite things to make.

💗💐 thank you so very much!!
I love all your videos, could this method work for brushed yarn fibers. I'm making some yarns wigs and don't know if I wanna make a glue wig.
Brushed yarn is very similar to alpaca fiber, so it should work fine!
Hi there. Why did you use a different method for the orange hair? Isn't the brown hair also synthetic?
No, the brown is natural fiber from an alpaca :) So it has a "grain" to the hair and lays differently than synthetics do.
@@LomisPlayground ohhh. So you don't recommend the orange hair weft method on human hair?
@@feliciaboston6365 No, it makes it more prone to tangling because the cuticle (or "grain direction" of the hair) would be running in opposing directions!
@@LomisPlayground awww ok thank you though. I don't like the first method much because it shortens the length of the hair
I definitely plan to try this, thank you!
Please let me know if you do, I'm excited to see the things people make!
Great video. Thanks
muito obrigado
Very very helpful like 👍
Thank you very much...
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your know-how!
very beautiful , thank you very much:))
What is the material you plant on your hair? Is it paper or not?
It's water soluble stabilizer. You can get it most places that sell fabric, it's designed to give fabrics more strength so they can be used in things like embroidery machines without stretching or tearing. :)
I want to try, thank you very much :))
Can the strexth lace or mesh caps be sewn onto a cloth doll head after the wig is completed ?
Wow
you are so inspiring! : )
Thank youu !!!! u saved my life!
Can wax paper for cooking work to sew on the alpaca hair?
Yes :)
Lomi's Playground thank you very much :)
is it wrong that on want to cut off my long hair to make a wig
random bird you can buy human hair online instead of cutting your own off. If you by bulk hair it is a little bit cheaper
Karamiah Stant
too late already did
Human hair is awesome for doll wigs :) I haven't gotten a chance to use it myself but I hope to in the future! I hope your wig turns out beautiful.
@@themostrandombird Four years later - how did the wigs come out? Have you cut your again since then to use for wigs again?
Do you sell any wigs you make?
Unfortunately not! I hardly have time for wigs on my own dolls ;_;
What yarn is used for making weft
I don't typically work with yarn, but just about any kind of wool or acrylic yarn can be brushed out to make wefts.
Where would one, how do you say, find stretchy lace?
I got mine from JoAnn Fabrics.
Have you made wefts from human hair with cuticles?
I haven't, but I do have some human hair waiting for me to get to it! It should be the same principle as the alpaca fiber, though.
I'm telling you now, it's very springy hair so it is hard to fold
So, why not just buy synthetic weave hair that already has a weft? Just asking.
Some types of synthetic hair don't come in all colors, or don't have the same texture or feel of saran or nylon hair, which typically do not come in wefts. Смотрю не первое видео, англоязычных мастеров. Что же они все так не аккуратно делают. Просто по рукам надавать хочется.
Why you guys don't make wigs for people?
Human wigs are so big that they would take forever for me to make. :)
but would brushed out yarn or alpaca whool work for a long lengthened human wig or would it snap ???
