@karamfaez19 yes it works great. Adding lead to 3 and 9 adds stability so the racquet doesn't move as much when you hit the ball. Adding at 12 adds more power to the shot. Remember that Adding weight increases the overall weight of the racquet (you can always take it off if you don't like it) and heavier racquets are slower than lighter ones. You want the heaviest racquet that you can comfortably wield., so don't over do it either. Play around with it and see what works for you. I also like adding lead to the middle (on the V that connects the handle to the frame) as that adds even more stability, especially good for racquets that are hard to control.
This is exactly the review I've been looking for. Been playing "aero" versions for 10+ years starting with the APD... Switched to the 2023 last year ('the standard") right after it came out after playing with the PA 2019 for a few years. Really like it for all of the reasons you mentioned.... better control and comfort with good spin generation for us mortal players. I just picked up the Rafa (cause I just had to) and haven't played with it much but my brief observations are similar to yours; feels stiffer and more harsh and more powerful. Played two matches last week; started my warmup with the Rafa but once the match started, went back to the PA 2023 right away. In fairness, I don't think I've given it enough time but I think I will only use it when I really feel I need the power boost. Would love a comparison between the Pure Aero 2019 Rafa and 2023 Rafa. The 2019 has the two main skips, ie: similar string density so they should be closer to each other. The 2023 feels very different than the 2019.
Thank you for the awesome feedback! Not sure if you saw it but we did a full individual review of the Rafa a bit before releasing this comparison and I talked about the 2019 quite a bit in that one. I think the Rafa and the 2019 are much more similar in performance than either is to the 2023. The 2023 really is much closer to the 1 main skip aeros of old. The only thing I will say is that without the huge spin grommets of the 2019, the Rafa feels less artificially spinny and more solid, although still different in swing pattern because of that weight distribution. I do think it would be interesting to directly compare the 2019 and 2023 Aero, but for now if you want to check out our review of the 2023 back in September, a lot of what I say there is a direct comparison to the 2019.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks for the reply. I am very familiar with the differences between the 2019 and the 2023. I played with the 2019 for the past few years but before that played with Aero Pro Drive for 10+ years. I switched to the 2023 last year when it came out. IMO, the 2023 has much better control, slightly less power, slightly less spin and a lower launch angle and more comfort. While the Aero's are not known for their "precision", it is better than the 2019 for being more precise with your shots and I've found volleys to be better. I finally played a full match with the Rafa and I'll admit it's starting to grow on me. I like the free extra power and I was pleasantly surprised not to be spraying balls while I adjusted, but it does feel slightly harsher than the 2023.

@@pro71 I haven’t played with an old APD since around 2017 so it’s a bit hard to pinpoint but I’d say the Rafa has a slightly harsher / more jarring feel to it when you are out of the sweetspot. The difference being more feedback from the racquet to your hand. The sweet spot on the Rafa feels smaller than on the PA 2019 requiring better focus on where you make contact, so that probably contributes to perception of stringbed consistency. I switched to the Pure Aero 2023 to improve control because I did feel sometimes with the 2019, the ball would just go where it wanted to…LOL…. The 2023 “standard” is still better control-wise than the Rafa but the Rafa is somewhere in between the 2019 and the 2023 std. a by product of that slightly harsher feel is being more connected to the ball. As fun as the experience can be, it's just too high in my opinion.

Then what's the difference between pure aero rafa and the 2021 Pure Drive as it has way open string pattern than pure aero. Kindly do a comparision of them. Also compare Pure Drive 98 and Pure Drive standard from 2015
I've been wanting to do that comparison for a while because for the first time in a while the Pure Drive has a more open pattern than the current Aero. I'll see what I can do!
I switched from a blade pro to a pure aero and cannot agree more about the increase in power and decrease in feel and control. With some getting used to, those cons become less of a problem.
A cool video great breakdown of what atleast from 30000 looks like similar racquets, these aren't the type of racquets i gravitate towards but cool that it has like one version that is latest and gratest and the rafa represents a decidedly old school aero approach. The weight in the head of the rafa is crazy though, i would chose the standard if i had to.
Used it as my first racket before upgrading to the pure aero Rafa. Lighter racket with larger head which was really great for me starting out. I was able to produce decent spin and power but didn’t excel in either category. Overall I would say it’s great for a beginner but wouldn’t recommend for intermediate players
What I said about feel and comfort should apply, but having looked at the two string beds, they are nearly identical on the 26" Rafa and Standard. Also, I don't think Babolat would have put a drastically heavier swing weight on any junior racket so I doubt the 26" Rafa is like the 290 in that sense (although i have not seen the Jr. yet)
Do you think the Standard has more control than the Ezone 100? Thanks... Also, I play the Pure Drive 100 with Hyper G (at 55lbs), it's a very good racket for me but I do feel it lacks control in some situations. I do however love the feel of it when I hit the ball and the feedback I get from it. If i switch to the 'Standard' AERO, will I still get that nice soft feel and feedback? Still nearly all the power? But more control? Is the launch angle similar? Thanks... I've just been through so many rackets and don't want to buy yet another one I don't use for long!
I do think the Aero 100 Standard has more control than the Ezone 100. Between the Pure Drive and the Aero, that is a very good question and probably worth its own video. Now that they have tightened up the string bed so much on this Aero, I do think it has more control than the Pure Drive. In terms of feel, they are both similar so I think once you get used to the Aero you will really like its response. Both the Drive and Aero are fantastic though so don't get too caught up between the two.
Could you modify the standard to make it feel like the rafa or even like the origin thereby having the best of both worlds in control and power? I’m torn between getting the two.
Luca, should compare the pure aero team 2023 to the pure aero rafa. The string pattern is the same 7 mains skips instead of the 8 mains, and just 5g difference! Wondering if adding lead at 12 o clock to bump the sw up will help replicate the rafa!
Is the babolat pure aero maneuverable? The Aero would be a great alternative for you, much quicker than the Speed Pro but if you want the best out of the racket you still have to swing it parallel to the ground.

He said it looked way easier for me to bring through the air and leas sluggish. Maybe i should have gone the 98 or ezone 98. Thoughts? But only played a few times with it so maybe ill get use to it.
It's definitely a tough racket to bring through contact with a weird balance. You can add a bunch of weight to the handle since it is so light in stock form but that won't completely resolve the issue. Take the time to get used to it but you may want to look at another racket eventually.
Pure Aero 2024 although having more control and comfortable, but too much muted and I cannot feel the punch on the ball. For now, still using an old Aeropro Drive 2010 without a dampener. Will buy the Pure Aero Rafa Origin next as I have been using another old racquet the Wilson K Pro Staff 88 weight just over 12 oz. Pure Aero Rafa Origin's weight might be between this two legendary racquets.
Thanks very much for the great comparison video. What is your name? Be great to mention this either in the video or video written description. If you could also do a comparison video with the Pure Aero 98 and 100 that would be great.
Thank you, my name is Luca! I add a little header usually between the 20-40 second mark with my name. I've been thinking about comparing those two for a while now. We may cool it with the Aero content for a bit, but it's definitely on the to-do list.
We don't have a VS anymore to compare the 98 with so I would be going off of memory. Here's what I can say: to me the 98 has much, much better feel. The VS felt really hollow when I played with it. Also Babolat took away the squared-off spin grommets so there is marginally less string movement. And as the other comment mentioned, it is softer.
I wish someone would actually test all this theory of spin and power. I mean actually measure the spin, power, and placement. I saw a guy on a different channel do this for some head rackets. But he was measuring only head rackets and not against a competitor.
Pure Aero looks so much the Babolat Boost. I dont think its quicker through the air than the Boost. also thinner beams equals fast travels through the air.
In most cases, I agree that a thinner beam is quicker through the air but when there is a particular emphasis on aerodynamics for a specific swing pattern (which there is on the Aero), the racket is actually quicker for that swing style. In the Aero's case that's when you swing for a groundstroke with the racket face parallel to the ground.
some people say that racket is heavy around 340grams strung but i use a heavier racket the head prestige pro around 350grams and im playing well with it
The one I'm discussing here is the lighter one (290 grams unstrung). The issue with the heavier one is not so much the static weight but rather the insanely high 370 swing weight. It will feel much more difficult to swing than the Prestige.
Making the pure aero 2023 less stiff was the worst decision ever. and the ping without a shock absorber is sooooooooo annoying. Point Rafa! give me a custom paint job to get rid of the pink, some led at 3 and 9 (with a little grip counter balance) and I'll play with that racket day and night. Match Rafa.
i have seen these racquets personally, and from picture to seeing it in person I was massively disappointed with the quality of the paint jobs, they just look CHEAP, in comparison with older models, like babolat aeropro drive or VS , etc.
Babolat trying to market their Aero the same way Anheuser Busch did with their Bud Light, it didn’t go well with Anheuser Busch now did it. The previous model Rafa Edition was ok coz it didn’t scream at me, this one is screaming at me, it’s saying.......FUGLY!!!
I have the rafa and I love it. I added a bit of lead tape at 3 and 9 for more stability.
did it work for u ? and what is difference between putting extra weight on 3,9 and 12 ?
@karamfaez19 yes it works great. Adding lead to 3 and 9 adds stability so the racquet doesn't move as much when you hit the ball. Adding at 12 adds more power to the shot. Thanks a lot!
Rafa is pretty
Pure Aero looks so much the Babolat Boost. I dont think its quicker through the air than the Boost. also thinner beams equals fast travels through the air.
In most cases, I agree that a thinner beam is quicker through the air but when there is a particular emphasis on aerodynamics for a specific swing pattern (which there is on the Aero), the racket is actually quicker for that swing style. In the Aero's case that's when you swing for a groundstroke with the racket face parallel to the ground.
some people say that racket is heavy around 340grams strung but i use a heavier racket the head prestige pro around 350grams and im playing well with it
i use the 2017 prestige pro
The one I'm discussing here is the lighter one (290 grams unstrung). The issue with the heavier one is not so much the static weight but rather the insanely high 370 swing weight. It will feel much more difficult to swing than the Prestige.
71 Ra too stiff it broked my arm and elbow
2:52 Bro is talking about 11th class physics
Me(a 7th grader) Trying to understand what he is saying😢
Ahaha you'll get there don't worry
Making the pure aero 2023 less stiff was the worst decision ever. and the ping without a shock absorber is sooooooooo annoying. Point Rafa! give me a custom paint job to get rid of the pink, some led at 3 and 9 (with a little grip counter balance) and I'll play with that racket day and night. Match Rafa.
i have seen these racquets personally, and from picture to seeing it in person I was massively disappointed with the quality of the paint jobs, they just look CHEAP, in comparison with older models, like babolat aeropro drive or VS , etc.
2016 Pure Aero goat racket
Great stick for sure!
sorry, but I couldn't play with the Rafa with that pj; it's like wearing a label saying "I am blind".
I like it
I will go for STD
Why are their paint jobs so 00's and trashy? It looks absolutely terrible compared to the Wilson and Prince.
They need to change the color of the pure aero rafa. It looks ugly as hell. Looks like some racquet barbie plays with
This rafa model is SO ugly. What a shame
