it looks absolutely fantastic! Is the Armadale line going to be reopened in stages or will it be opened all at once? I noticed turnback tracks just past Cannington station to allow trains to turn around in the event of a track closure further down the line, so i guess that staged opening could be possible?
yes, i suspect this is likely. the track has had a couple of machines rolling on it late at night near the queens park station in late october. but i have heard or seen nothing since.
whats the hurry? how about a slow cruise along the line? what happened to the bit where the line goes under the leach highway? was that section too ugly? by the way, it doesnt matter how much noise is made or how inconvenient the traffic disruptions are, and i am inconvenienced a lot because i live real close to it, i dont mind at all. i think this skyrail is wonderful.
Wish you would redo the rest of the Armadale Line - it's already closed, why not remove the other level crossings and update some of the ancient stations?
Agreed. Personally, I would have hoped they'd tunnel all the way to at least to Maddington - imagine the prime real estate along this route that would have been freed up for residential and commercial development with a subway instead? I would expect that a long-term lease or even sale of all this land would amortize the cost to tunnel.
@@vsvnrg3263 Yep,worked on the Mandurah line piling up from Roe St to Lizzie Key to tunnel you would have to go so deep and if you piled it then tunnelled that would take years.
@@LeftIsBest001 A lot less than one would think - look at them tunnelling from Midland line to Forrestfield... how many stations were built? A tunnel along the Armadale line to Gosnells would free up leasable land for development. There's NO way you could amortise the costs of running a line through the airport just for a limited corridor to the foothills.
I’m sure this will be done by august - December 2025, including the Thornlie Cockburn link not too sure with the Byford and Armadale part, (that’s still in early stages).
@@vsvnrg3263 I'm on that line. The difference is they did it one station at a time. My section was out of action for under 5 weeks. (And they did it over Xmas, so they'd have good weather and inconvenience the fewest people.)
I wish Perth would learn what Metronet is about. Look at " Warwick Quarter development " and go down the rabbit hole. Look at Mandurah and Melbourne development plans for rail linked high density high rise welfare housing, slums of the future .
labor, liberals and greens are all in favour of slumming our suburbs. some people like high rise. fine. build another train line and slum out the ares near the new stations. interesting fact - docklands in melbourne is the domestic violence capital of that city.
Seems to be progressing well 👍
I dont go that area much these days, so its great to see the progress,
Enjoy the updates on the game changing project 👍🏻

It will opened all at once, together with the Thornlie - Cockburn extension.

@@TheSledgehammer205 , underground stuff is more expensive than overhead stuff. and high water tables make tunnelling a bloody great nuisance.

@@TheSledgehammer205 - Do you have any idea how much a tunnel that length would have cost? 😂

Yea I miss the old one a lot
Just like in Melbourne ... except with the trains out of service for vastly longer.
not sure about that. the lilydale line might have been out of action for longer. but also, a lot of work is getting done. a lot.
