Lol - Emily’s Mom here and I have a confession to make! Yes, they had lots of chores. I figured if she got a Girl Guide badge in housekeeping I should reinforce that learning! They both were doing their own laundry at age 10. (Sorry not sorry!). Love you Em! 😘
Haven't watched the video yet Emily waiting to put the baby to bed but I'm just gobsmacked that you weren't on this Mumfluencer list?? 🤔 Your 100% number 1 in my eyes on this platform xx
I absolutely love your videos when I found out I was pregnant with my little boy Logan your videos were really helpful and calming, your an amazing mum and your kids are so adorable, I have been watching since Jackson was in your stomach. Have an amazing day 😊
I honestly love it. I wish I had time to reply to them all. When I started I used to get such a buzz when someone commented, and I still get the same buzz. Thank you so much for watching Halima xx
I know right! The first time I commented I did not expect my comment to even be read let stand receive a kind response! Emily truly is one of the best and kindest UA-camr out there, she has become a mummy role model to me for sure 💖💖💖
I’ve been watching you for so long Emily! You’re a fabulous mother and have given me so much advice and tips through your videos that have helped me with my little boy. Thank you 💙
I have been binge watching all your videos over the last few days my husband loves watching your family too. Seriously you are so easy to relate too and I almost fell out of my chair when I emailed you last year and you answered!!! You are so sweet and kind your kids are just adorable and you dont make other moms feel bad about themselves with unrealistic materialism body image and "everything is perfect" fakeness. On another note I took your morning routine and make my bed in the morning but the kids have to make their beds dress themselves brush teeth and bring down laundry before I let them watch their before school shows. Seriously such a stress relief ❤❤
I appreciate how real you are.. And I love the 3 marker game. That looks so fun. I'm also trying to organize a way to have more chores for my boys too. I really look forward to seeing what works for you.
I applaud you Emily for wanting your children to be independent! My husband and I were just discussing this for when we have kids. I have a couple siblings and tons of cousins who don't have jobs or are on food stamps and things but they could be working and it's sad when you see that in society. I think it's great to help your kids get things done and be independent and that will continue into adulthood. It really gives you a sense of accomplishment as well when you are productive. Keep up the good work!
Matt being David Attenborough was hilarious!!! And I agree, it’s time to start a chore routine. I love that you do age appropriate things, like when you talked to us about giving your eldest a mobile. I really liked the ideas of baking pans and magnets and the popsicle sticks. It will give everyone the ability to choose and to see their progress made. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes Matt, we do remember the rainbow pen organizer because I got it too after she suggested and it ended up being the same! 😂😂😂 .. And Emily, I really dont comment or participate on social media things much, because i rarely get the time to watch a full video, but i'm saying it again - you have been such an inspiration from day 1 since my dear son was born and I cannot stress enough on the matter how much you have helped me. If only you wore a cape. You are a Wondermom, Emily! ❤
Yes to chores! My 18 month old is loading and unloading her laundry and dryer. When getting ready for bath, putting dirty clothes in a hamper and organizing shoes/ slippers. Preparing for a meal by pushing high chair closer to a table and grabbing a utensils from her drawer. After meal “ washing” her dishes by hand, toddler stand is a blessing here. Also gives us few more minutes to finish our meal. Mindful parenting.
I definitely remember those kids at university who were clueless. I had to teach a friend how to make scrambled eggs and another friend how to use a washing machine and tumble dryer. I also have had a couple roommates who routinely burned rice. I don’t even know how that happens. And then I also knew people who didn’t know the difference between cleaning and tidying. My parents were insistent my sister and I learned good life skills. This included learning chores, how to feed ourselves, and when we were old enough taking care of all our forms and paperwork. I filled out all my own forms to get into the high school I wanted to go to. Some might call that pushy but my sister and I are very capable adults.
Oh my goodness! Where do I even begin?! What a completely ADORABLE day! Jackson's intro, Caleb is mini-me dressed all the same as Fraser at the trampoline park, (what kind of styling gel does Matt use on them, because it had serious staying power!!), loved the marker game, so clever. We have chore charts laminated and posted on their doors. They are numbered so I can ask, "Did you finish #3? Move to the next one." if they get stuck. I never did find one on Pinterest that I loved, so I made my own in Word and added simple clip art shrunken down next to every line.
Lovely vlog Emily. We had chores growing up, couldn't go out to play until they were done. It definitely teaches you independence and responsibility. And prepares you for when you leave home. Have a lovey weekend ☺💜
Yes! Lol we had loads of chores daily AND a Saturday list that we had to do to get any kind of play time and/or allowance. Also if your siblings ended up doing your chores b/c you didn't, they got your allowance! I am SO so thankful for that upbringing!
I didn’t want to comment about you cleaning up the boys toys all of the time on your videos, because it’s not my place, but it was great to see them cleaning in this video. Chores are so so important and it’s great to hear you are looking into a set chart. Best of luck implementing and positively reinforcing them :)
My two have a morning list and an evening list, they’re stuck on the inside of a low kitchen cupboard. They have make their beds, put their laundry in the basket. Brandon loads up the dishwasher after tea and Rosie gets the cutlery ready for tea. It seems to work well 😍😍
Aww!! Your kids are super cute!! Watching your vlogs after putting my 3.5 months old in bed..your vlogs are my only source of recreation these days!! Getting really addicted ❤️
Totally agree about the water! We don't have anything to drink in our house besides water, milk, and coffee (obviously not for kids). My little guy is 22 months and all he has every had is milk or water and he prefers water to milk honestly. We have to stay on it to get him to drink enough milk :)
I'm so glad you are making the boys do chores and I'm so interested to see how it goes and would love a little insight into what habits stick. I've also seen pinterest pins with ideas for what chores you can begin to introduce at which age. Whenever I do housework I wonder when my little one will be able to help and have definitely thought more than once to request a video about it from you!
Love these raw vlogs! I had loads of chores a child as well, now my little one helps around with the dishwasher and pretends to mop the floor with me...she's 2 years old 😁 it's a good start and so funny to watch. Thanks again for a lovely video!
We only ever offered water to our kids when they were young and now we are able to let the three bigger ones have a treat drink every once in a while without issue. They love to drink water and will often choose it over other options, thankfully.
Great idea to introduce chores! Currently studying to be a primary teacher and from the experience I have it is so clear the children whose parents do everything for them compared to those who are encouraged to be independent at home! Often those children who have everything done for them expect the same in school settings too. Maybe try think of a different name for them rather than 'chores' as that word can have negative feelings associated with it and may make think negative feelings when it comes to doing it! Similar research has shown the same kinda thing with the word 'work' which is why its better to say home learning for example rather than work:) Not sure if this is helpful at all aha but love your content!
My little 2yr old boy have chores. He feeds the dogs every morning. And he puts his pjs and dirty clothes in washing basket. And of coarse help tidy all his toys. I believe its good to start young. There is a lot of small things he does aswell to help and he always gets rewarded. He loves it and i can see it makes him feel important and proud that he helps his mommy.
I'm with you on the chores, i started them this year with my 6 year old and she actually loves helping out and she rarely needs to be asked to do things now like when I make dinner she sets the table, she helps put away groceries and so on but we also have the lolly pop stick jar and tbh we all use it 😂 love you and your family you and Matt are raising some lovely boys x
Ah thank you. I wonder if we have our work cut out with 3 boys rather than girls. Saying that, Matt is really good with chores so there is hope! Thank you so much for watching xx
Ha Ha Matt organiser shamed you with that pen pot, so funny, but great to see a bit more of the real you! You gave away your safe word though LOL. Check out Jordan Petersons clipboard system. We've been trialling it since late Jan and it seems to be working in our house.
When I was a kid all I drank was water and sometimes milk but no fizzy drinks or squash. I'm 19 now and I still only water and milk. I don't actually like fizzy drinks or squash.
Hi Emily, I remember you saying before Fraser has chores & it got me thinking why am I not doing this?🤔 My eldest is 8, then 6 then my only daughter is almost 4 then I have a baby almost 1 (he's a bit young☺️) but I am starting to get them to put their bowls in the dishwasher and "attempt" to make their beds 😁😁 I love the lollipop sticks one - mine would love that!!
Hi, in Queer eye S01e05 Karamo made chore board for family of 6 kids that looked really good, they had jobs on magnets and metal board for each child 🙌
Loved this vlog! Where did you get those small lunch boxes from that you put in your handbag? It would be Ideal for me as I have a 3 year old and he likes to have small snacks while we are out ❤️❤️
After each activity there is a really only few seconds to tidy up before moving on to another one. She often grabs her vacuum to clean before we move to another area of the house.
You should look at Jordan Page’s channel for a chore chart! I love hers. Your 2 year old can help! As soon as they’re able to walk, they can help with little things that don’t have to be perfect (like wiping baseboards and such) ☺️

OMG mom post! I love it!
Emily Norris You don’t get to be the UK’s Queen of Speed Cleaning without years of experience! 😜😘😘😘
I love your videos, you are so real compared to other youtubers that try to pretend they do baby yoga every morning at 4 am 😂😂💕

It is added to water to give it some flavour. Eg diluted orange
