- James and I talked about this song a lot as it was one of my favorites. He was heavily influenced by Percy Sledge and would often mention him in the introduction of this song. On this particular occasion he introduced the song as playing it for "My friend who came all the way from Dallas, TX"!
Miss you James G. RIP
Saw James first in 2004 and knew of him through his I'm In Need album and was amazed how good he was live. So good I have travelled back almost every year since from London to see him.
An unrecognised all time great singer up there with Bobby Womack, Otis and Johnnie Taylor.
RIP James. Sad to know you won't be singing for us on my next trip to Memphis.
I met james in the sixties on seventh street.miss u old friend
Memphis lost its Soul when they lost James, RIP Jams G
I agree. With every trip to Beale you were guaranteed good Memphis music if James G was at at the Rum Boogie! Eat Drink Boogie Repeat
He never failed to rock the Rum Boogie - super nice man.

Thanks for your comment. Those days at the Rum Boogie were priceless. I sure miss him as well.
One of the most movin' and great soul singer
How did I never hear of this guy before tonight? Ran across his cover of Starting All Over Again and did a double take when he started singing. So sad I am too late to catch him live.
I agree. Part of the Memphis Blues died when James passed. I enjoyed those days so much. Thanks for your comment!
