- The Canaan Dog is a pariah dog that has survived in the desert region of "CANAAN" Israel for thousands of years. Many believe it to be the Ancient dog breed that the Hebrews used in biblical (BCE) times to herd and guard their flocks and possessions.

My sister has a dog of this breed, who was brought over from Israel when he was a puppy. He has bitten several people including my nephew. He is a good dog who's been abused by my brother in law, which I witnessed first-hand last night when he raised his foot & went to stomp on him. I stopped him in his tracks & screamed at him to stop this IMMEDIATELY and it led to a screaming match. He's lucky I didn't stomp on his head. I know he could be an amazing dog, with proper guidance. Are there any rescues specifically for this breed? I'm more determined than ever to find him a proper home where he doesn't have to be subjected to mental and physical abuse. Thanks in advance for any advice on how to save him❤

Unfortunately dogs that have had a history of abuse and misconduct tend to develope a defensive mechanism by being aggressive themselves. As the saying goes "Hurt people, hurt people" so is true with dogs.
