  • Goodbye nasty old carpet, hello cherry & holly teak-look vinyl floor! Santa brought us more boat projects for Christmas, but we were happy to tackle this one. We waited way too long to get rid of the carpet, but we are so glad the day has finally come. We hope you enjoy this sped up version of us installing Nautikflor's luxury vinyl planks in our Sea Ray 480 Sedan Bridge.

I’m sold. Going to order Nautikflor for my salon. Thanks. Wife wanted to get rid of carpet in the house and go to vinyl flooring and I first thought she was nuts, but after staining my wood floors and ruining my second carpeting, I’m ready for anything waterproof, and wow that Nautikflor looks great. Boat is getting Nautikflor. I’m sold. Let me return the favor. After doing about 15 min research on the origin of Christmas, I gave it up right away, and it was like setting down a heavy load. Never felt freer. No Molloch.

Nice work! Gotta love making enhancements right before selling and not getting to enjoy it for yourself for long 😭. I know that feeling!

Great job - wanting to do that with our boat, but like you we have two large engine hatches, and a couple other hatches. Just not sure it would be a DIY for me. But again, great job!

Great Project, Loved watching the work! I am thinking of buying the same boat, probably doing the same flooring project. My question are (a) how do those salon flooring hatches come up ? (b) Is a floating floor better than glue-down and following the seams of the hatches ? (c) Did the floor planks ever get loose ? Thanks guys.

Nice job. How did the floating floor feel when walking on it? I have that in my new Cape Coral house and I’m not much of a fan of the float feel. But for ease of install and price. Can’t be beat and looks great.

Thanks. It wasn’t too bad. The planks are pretty firm and slightly textured so it has a solid feel to it. Of course the flooring is mostly 2 big engine hatches so there’s a slight flex when walking in certain spots, but it’s always been that way so we’re used to it.

Did you guys notice a change in engine room noise after the removal of the carpet and pad? I am at this point right now, but I don't want to add any more engine sound than I already have while underweigh.

We didn’t notice, but the engines are pretty loud in general, and since I only ran them from the flybridge, it all just kind of seemed like nothing changed, but it’s possible it got slightly louder.
