Congratulations Jizzo on your ten year anniversary, and as always, you hit the nail on the head with each point in this video, especially when you talked about the special needs of musicians versus non musicians (I call them "civilians"). When it works, it works great, but when it goes bad, professional careers as well as personal lives are destroyed. Another point I would make is that civilian wives and girlfriends need to be prepared for becoming famous by association, merely from being married to Mr. Famous So And So, which adds even more layers of complication and stress. (Don't even get me started on how fans will react). Personally, I would not enjoy that part of the life, but it is the life nonetheless, and you have to be ready for it. Journey said it best in their classic ballad Faithfully: "Loving a music man ain't always what it's supposed to be."
Thank you Jeezo and I truly hope for all the musicians great health and prosperity. A better industry that puts money in the artist´s pockets. I remember meeting people who were starting to listen to rock and metal and told me they liked the music, but not the people , which meant they did not like the people in the audience, for all the drinking and the ratchedy clothes.
Glad this video is about marriage, and not having to escape the literal hellscape that is LA right now with these insane fires just decimating entire towns. Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. My last marriage lasted that long, it was a good run. May your last much much longer.
I was watching VH1 Legends with my ex wife after we had divorced. We remained friends and did some family stuff with our sons. After the show was over she said to me “you have done everything these musicians have done. Drugs, alcohol, divorce, girls, records, a video, traveled. But you never made that money.”
Being a successful artist in the 2020s requires being your own label and building a powerful brand. It can be done. But it ain’t for the whiners who wanna be wined and dined by a label. THOSE days are over. And that’s a good thing. Gives us total control over all aspects.
Ah yes.. when I was touring it was a hard marriage that ended, like a lot of my buddies had theirs... Now that I'm a weekend warrior, I got a great marriage.
As usual you're the voice of reason. I'm the daughter of a professional musician. $ went up and down and my family always waited for the July residual check. My X husband was very talented but I couldn't call him a musician bc he's a total poser. So his talent went to waste.. and so did my life.
159% true thank you jizzy . I would dare to say that this is almost the stuff u deal with being a rock music journalist. Especially with the wife when it comes to $$$$$$$
King Jizzo. Gotta question been dying to know for 35 years. Between yourself, Skid, Jon, and Joey, who had the highest body count on the Blackout In The Redroom Tour cycle?!
Headed towards 60 myself & still givn 'r, at least still trying. Never drank that much, had 9 brothers & sisters that drank more than enough for me. Weed. Consumption is down quite a bit, but Ive smoked more than Cheech, Chong, Willie Nelson & Bob Marley combined, so its relative. Anyway, I came here to wish you good luck with those fires out there. Hope you & yours are safe.✌🏼🤘🏼 ...and obviously the "secret" is to have The Brotherman officiate your nuptials. 🤔
When I was in photo school decades ago, the old, crusty photo veterans who taught the classes used to say this riddle: Q.) what is the definition of a professional photographer? A.) a guy with two cameras and a wife that works. I found this to be true with working musicians, too. They were all in search of a wife who worked a job offering medical benefits.
Getting sober really helps, you’re absolutely correct brother🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
