I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying. Your argument at its core is not incorrect. However, lets keep things in perspective. Paladin gap closers- Divine Steed: 3 second speed boost on 45 second cooldown Warrior gap closers- Charge: Instantly on top of enemy and stunning them, 15 second cooldown Intercept: Instantly on top of enemy and stunning them, 30 second cooldown Chain grab: Instantly pulls enemy on top of you, not sure the CD yet. Plus warriors still have a spamable snare, while paladins have a mana heavy 30 second CD snare IF they choose that rune. I don't think Paladins are just "better warriors" now, they are still very different at what each one is good and not good at.
Time will tell. I think Wolves on Shamans is to much though... that is one thing I agree with the more I think about it. Fine for Hance Shaman... but no one was asking for Ele to have Freedoms and Move Speed buffs.
The QUALITY of the gap closer needs to be part of the equation. I would agree paladins don't need an INSTANT gap closer like warriors have but that's miles apart from something something like a snare or a mini sprint. That's an entirely different animal and seeing as how much changes other classes have received in playtime and how much bustier things are in this meta then yes I think there is an argument to be made for paladins having an inferior gap closing mechanic that is not INSTANT. And no that would not make paladins a better Warrior. We won't have snares or instant gap closing with a stun on top or mortal strike debuff or retaliation etc etc. It's much more nuanced than just yes or no on gap closing and as insightful and thoughtful as you are ,because I must give you props for that, I don't think your seeing the big picture either just like the ppl who want instant gap closers are not. Btw I got the reference of "murder death kill" Lol I love that movie.
Its a frightenly good movie. I am working on Paladin vs Mage PvP guide... hopefully this will help people understand why I am against gap closers on Paladin. It's SUPER easy to catch and beat them down even without Divine Steed... Double, tripple, quad blinks be damned.
When I argued that SoD felt too retail-like, this is why. There is a reason they built SoD on the vanilla core, and not to replace vanilla but to GROUND the tbc/wrath designs that are in the runes. Otherwise, why didnt they build the core around wrath classic? There is def a tangible effort to make the old design intents dictate SoD, so its weird to see divine steed put in the game, knowing its in conflict with the paladin core design.
