- This is the final video from our Rarotonga, Cook Island series! The Cook Islands is one of the world's smallest countries. This gem in the South Pacific is popular with Kiwi and Aussie travellers and with good reason- it's tropical, easy to get around and fish is in abundance! We spend 10 days on the island exploring the local food and the best eats to hit up when you visit. From the nation's iconic dish- ika mata (raw fish salad) to real fruit ice creams using local fruit like soursop and passionfruit to the best cafes and cheap eats on the island. Stay tuned for some epic Cook Island food!
What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Kai & Co, Kenwall Gallery, Ara Tapu, Avarua, Cook Islands. Open 8am to 1:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 2pm Friday, 8am-12:30pm Saturday. Bosso BLT Wrap $15, Tropic Chicken Wrap (with fries) $20
2. Palace Takeaways, Q6V7+XVF, Ara Tapu, Avarua, Cook Islands. Open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm to 10pm on Sunday. Wet cheeseburger $8
3. Trader Jacks, Q6VG+G4J, Ara Tapu, Avarua, Cook Islands. Open Monday to Thursday 11am to 10pm and Friday- Saturday 11am to midnight. Traders Rum Runner $15, Rarotonga Brewery Cider $8

Those wraps are MASSIVE! One of those would do me for the whole day. The wet burger didn't look all that spectacular, but you wore it well, Sheena. 🤣 This was a great series, and you 3 look like you had plenty of fun and relaxation. Zadie made quite a few fans, it looks like.

I visited Raro over 20 years ago, with my then-partner who was a born n raised Kuki. He knew all the good spots, and took me to Palace Burger. I've been dreaming of their food ever since, and was so happy when they did a pop-up at last year's (2023) Te Maeva Nui Cook Island dance festival in Auckland! So many people lined up for a taste of home! I had a wet cheese and it was just as amazing as I remembered. Metaki ma'aata!!!

70% of those wraps is 60 cents worth of lettuce. Same thing as most places in the south pacific, including Australia. Not good value for $$
Hi there. Thanks for watching. Couple of issues with your comment that I would like to clear up. One the wrap wasn't 70% lettuce at all. Second lettuce is very expensive in Rarotonga (I think it gets flown in) so even if the wrap was 70% lettuce it sure wouldn't be 60 cents worth. We saw small lettuces at the supermarket for $12-$15 NZD. Thanks again for watching. Thomas

Nah, we do a lot of research before deciding where to film and which spots to showcase and if a meal isn’t up to scratch we just put down the camera. This channel is about highlighting great food and awesome businesses so it’s a positive space. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Sheena
