Great instructional videos. Thanks. Here is a link to a forum also about fitting arches which might help someone.

Nice work, just a little tip for you, make yourself a tool for bending the return on the wing using M12 bolt with a slot cut verticaly down the centre of it on the threaded end. Then simply work around the wind carefuly bending a little at a time.

Thanks Darren, nice tip, that would have prevented a shed load of arm pump...cheers.

Thanks for message and the support. The escort’s such a great car, shame there not as readily available as they were in the 80’s. 👍🏻

Hello, what is the name of that useful riveter type to present the fins to the bodywork? I wanted to buy it here in Spain

There’s called Cleco sheet metal fasteners. You can Google, eBay or Amazon them. There’s many different makes but they all do the same job. Thanks for stopping by and making the time to ask.

Hello buddy where did you get the pop rivet tool for the drill from.

Hi. It’s a cheap generic one from Amazon. I took a punt and didn’t expect good things but it’s a held up and very hand. 👍🏻

Nice work. Sometimes wish I had built a 2 door with arches instead of my 4 door rally car

Hi Ricky. How things. I’ve been meaning to leave a comment for you. Your escort is lovely, too good for rally I’d say. Ive been watching all your videos the last few days. Can’t wait to see the rear end and axle. I noticed you have a support coming from the link box to the chassis rally, I was thinking of doing the same. I’d say if you’ve done the work your self you could build a spectacle 2 door arches model, but don’t let that distract from yours. She’s a truly awesome piece of kit. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see more. 👍🏻

I was going to ask what the deal is with the seat bars as well. I noticed motorsport tools upped there girth game on the seats bars and then I saw you cutting yours out? 😱. I’m assuming new regs require fatter tubes. What a pain in the arse as I have the old ones and I’ve never even sat on them. 🤦🏼‍♂️

All the gear.....No idea😕 thanks mate, hopefully have episode 4 about the axle up tomorrow with abit of luck. Yes 🙈 seat rails! 😡 rule chan he this year, well it’s not a new rule it’s always been an FIA rule but Motorsport uk have never really given guidance on how to mount Seats, so now they have said to go by the FIA spec which is the 35mm tube with the threaded bosses in the tube rather than the floating nuts like I had before. I’ve got a rally scrutineer coming this weekend to inspect the car so hopefully all good and be able to rally after that!

Ah what a pain as I have the floating nuts as well. Still I’ll get the car finished first before I worry too much. It’s nice to have a guy come and inspect the car, would be great if he was keen to be on video, give us all an insight into what there looking for.

All the gear.....No idea😕 I’ll ask if he will let me film. We have to get a passport for the car to be able to compete, abit like having a personal competition license. So he’s checking it’s all built to the book and it’s all certified etc.

Um, I have to be the bearer of bad news (or at least I fairly sure I am) but I think you have fitted the front arches on the wrong side. That large piece you have at the front of the arch should transition into the body line at the rear of the arch.
This has also thrown off your front lip as the base should be sitting perfectly parallel to the ground at ride height.

😂. It’s entirely possible Chris. I’m no expert.. but one thing is for sure , these arches wouldn’t fit the other way around. When I took them out of the box originally I had no idea which way they went, but it soon became apparent, one way fitted the wing and swage line to a certain level, I’ll say fit “loosely”, and the other way the curve was wrong, didn’t follow the wing or swage line onto the bottom of the wing at all, and the ends were 5 inches off the body, so it was night and day. One way fitted and the other simple didn’t, so they went on the way they fitted. In the current installation the end of the arch, closest to the door hinges, fits the natural swage line of the mark 2 and the front curve’s into the front splitter. For info the front splitter isn’t fitted and needs work, it was only cleco clamped into position to mock up the arches for fit. Once installed for the last time it’ll sit as you mention, bottom lip parallel to the ground.
But let me know if you have any photos contrary to what I’ve said. I just couldn’t fathom how they’d fit the other way round, and thanks for heads up.
