Mitch, with the alloy hubs you must warm them up before fitting the bearings. It also helps to pop the bearings in the freezer! If you just bash in the bearings like we have all done with a cast hub you will mess up your new hubs and that would be a shame. They do not mention this when you buy them, it is all to do with the different expansion rates of the materials so the tolerances are tighter with the alloy hubs to stop the bearings moving about when they warm up in use...
Hi mate, thank you so much for the advice. Without people like yourself recommending these procedures I might’ve gone about it the wrong way, so thank you! I will get those hubs in the oven and bearings in the freezer 👍🏻
Nice to see a mk2 being built with decent bits and not built on a shoes string outside like the other on UA-cam . Well done Mitch it’s gona be class enjoy your build 👍
Well, IF you're talking about a certain MH, he's doing what he can on the budget he has and I for one applaud his efforts.......if you're talking about someone else, a pointer in their direction would be appreciated......
When your at this point fitting those parts you realised that it is 100% all in the prep work ( as i know from my line of work ) great move forward for you and i was to excited with you fitting them 👍
Looks great, I think you need a bigger workshop, I remember working on my parents gravel driveway doing this stuff to my 1600E, cold and wet and windy.
Must feel great to be fitting all those new, quality parts 👌. Not just that but to be working with non-rusty nuts and bolts! It really is looking good Mitch, nice one pal 😁👍
Looking good. It’s great to see such a pukka job being done. I remember back in the day using spring clamps on the front springs and lowering blocks to lower my Mk2. I was a poor student though! Can’t wait to see the progress.
Coming along great Mitch, well done for getting all the right parts. Might go down the coilover route myself one day, just depends on spring rates for a pinto for road use
@Mk2Mitch Gaz..?? .. I've not heard of that suspension company, I hope they're notc rested to Russian GAZ Automotive, ...or that the actual strut assembly are themselves are of a sufficiently high quality of construction & materials!&.apart from looking 'new and seemingly okay or are they just being pricey or cheap enough to work while scamming you? Ideally even if you can't change the spring's (?!?) Really you should know what spring rate they are, especially if & when 'lowering' ! ...to help you know if they may going to be not hard enough, or are too hard !
..wow, he thinks 'drop in' race type parts come fully preconfigured and set up to go...😰 ...without any care of a lack of instructions for fitting and assuming the Gaz & toomount companies had pre-set adjustment s of the assemblies to a basic setting up - they don't for adjustable shock top mounts, only thread the required number of hopefully specified bolts in any hole so they don't get Los while packaging the order together.

absolutely do this, i baked mine in the oven and as you say, bearings in the freezer and then use a brass drift to gently drive them in
Hi mate, thank you so much for the advice. Without people like yourself recommending these procedures I might’ve gone about it the wrong way, so thank you! I will get those hubs in the oven and bearings in the freezer 👍🏻
Boiling water in large pot on cooker hub easiest
Looks bloody great and your enthusiasm shines through mate and got to admit I was sat smiling looking at the new shiny parts😂
Haha, thank you mate! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😁

The thing I like about yourself is you don't cut corners with your cars and campervan looking great mitch.
Thank you mate, I can’t and won’t cut corners! It’s just not in my nature 😎
When your at this point fitting those parts you realised that it is 100% all in the prep work ( as i know from my line of work ) great move forward for you and i was to excited with you fitting them 👍
Thank you! Yes it’s very satisfying to bolt the new bits on, knowing I spent so long to make the underside perfect 😎
Looks great, I think you need a bigger workshop, I remember working on my parents gravel driveway doing this stuff to my 1600E, cold and wet and windy.
Yeah working out in the elements isn’t fun! Glad I’ve got the garage but a unit would be nice one day 😎

I myself like it like that on underside everything as clean as the top its just nice to see even if others don't see it and only you do.
Thank you! Yes exactly that, I haven’t done the underside for everyone to see but I know it’s mint 😎

Looking good. It’s great to see such a pukka job being done. I remember back in the day using spring clamps on the front springs and lowering blocks to lower my Mk2. I was a poor student though! Can’t wait to see the progress.
Thank you! You can’t beat old school modifications 😎
Looking great on the build getting there
Thank you!
Glad you got sorted mate! Given me some motivation for mine again catching up with your build. 👏
Thanks again for the help mate, really did make the parts sourcing much easier! Will be great to see yours back out on the road 👍🏻
Coming along great Mitch, well done for getting all the right parts. Might go down the coilover route myself one day, just depends on spring rates for a pinto for road use
Cheers mate! Yes the coilovers and great and they are dampening adjustable too 👍🏻
Cracking video Mitch how good does that look! You should be so proud of yourself for the progress you’ve made so far the cars looking great 👌
Thank you Nick, appreciate the comment! I’m really enjoying the build up process 😎
Hi. Do you not grease your new bolts before you fit them, or add threadlock ? Cheers
I added some thread lock to certain bolts 👍🏻
Hi Mitch. Hope I didn't miss it in the posts but what spring rate did you go with for a comfortable road ridw?
Hi pal, I wasn’t given a option with these coilovers 👍🏻
@Mk2Mitch Gaz..?? .. I've not heard of that suspension company, I hope they're notc rested to Russian GAZ Automotive,

quality vid guy ,looks great
Thank you pal 👍🏻
The jedi ratchet monster strikes again slowly slowly catchee monkee you will get this completed and i cant wait to hear this run and roar..
Haha thank you! I’m really looking forward to the first start 😎
weird how the bolts have the "R" in Burton the wrong way around on the packing--- chinesium ? but another fantastic video Mitch !!
Wouldn’t know mate! Thank you 👍🏻
I notice the collars are missing of inside wheel arch where anti roll racket bolts go through
Might’ve been the camera angle but I do have the collars in place 👍🏻
You put the bolts in the wrong way holding antiroll brackets bolts go in from in wing into engine bay
Didn’t know there was a correct way! Thank you for the advice 👍🏻
The top mounts need turning so the offset is inside not out side
Can you send me some photos? This was how the bolts were set up when they were delivered to me and I assumed they were correct?
..wow, he thinks 'drop in' race type parts come fully preconfigured and set up to go...😰

Looking great ,can't wait for the next video, are you going to the isle of Wight take over this year ?
Thank you! Yes we are heading over again this year, I’ll be in my Mk2 Fiesta 👍🏻
