In 2019, my mother back home was sick and in her final days. She was in an agonizing pain. I couldn’t fly home to be by her sides. I was torn.
Each single evening, I would come home and dance to this song while imagining myself holding my frailty mom in my hands and offering her to her maker and begging the Creator to take her as she has suffered so much. She finally went home two months after. I was at my lowest point. I looked at the mirror one morning. I looked 10 years older. I kept on listening to this for a year. This time, I was asking the Maker to set me free from the unbearable pain of losing my lovely mother. Music heals.

One of the most beautiful pieces of Orchestra I've ever heard. After battling hard in life for these past few days, this song brings me the joy and hope I wanted. I can never repay the greatness of this song by recommending any other song be it classical or modern. If not the greatest then this is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Thank you Hans Zimmer.
When Gladiator was in cinema in Australia I went to watch it with some friends. There was a lovely young Danish lady there all alone in the foyer. I asked her if she was waiting for anybody to see the film with. She wasn't as she was backpacking alone around Australia. I invited her to join me so she could have some company during the movie as it didn't seem right for a lady to sit all alone with nobody for company.
It was an emotional movie and it was wonderful to share it with another person. I dropped her off at the bus station afterwards and never saw her again. Strangely enough, I think about this moment I shared with a complete stranger so many years ago. Despite not even remembering her name, she has a permanent place in my memories. This song reminds me of a snapshot in time when I was a younger man, sharing a beautiful moment with a beautiful woman who I would never see again.

This song, which has been used and abused far too much for advertising purposes, at least here in Italy, ought to be declared holy heritage of the human soul. For it has the immense power to touch some deep areas of our soul that can't just be described. As early as in my 22 years of age I used to weep a lot every time I would listen to this song - I am now nearly 40. It was just able to get me into touch with the deep abyss or void living within ourselves, of which, under normal circumstances, we are afraid. And still now, at my age, I feel tears flowing down my eyes each time I listen to it.

Whatever you are going through don’t give up. Get up. get up now matter how many times you are knocked down. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. When I was a kid, I'd draw scenes from people's everyday lives - women going shopping, teenage kids getting angry at their parents, meals, vacations... When I heard this song in Gladiator, it shook me so deeply that I drew people listening to a woman sing it at a music venue (cafe or whatever). I still remember that drawing and I'm glad I found the song so many years later.
This music, this voice, this movie, still make me cry even in 2021. a hope that something beautiful is wating for us after this life

This is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerard nailed it. I think Russel Crow hit the jackpot when he got the part of unforgettable character of General Maximus. He was never able to perform in any other movie like in this one. And not forgetting the brilliant performance by one of the best villans of all times - Joeqin Pheonix. He was amaxing in this movie.

When my grandmother passed a couple years ago my sister and I flew to Chicago for for her funeral. I put this on repeat the night before the service and balled for a solid 40 minutes.. Kept it on repeat the whole night. It still brings tears to my eyes..

i guess if you don't believe in life after death you don't expect to hear anything. I believe there is celestial music more beautiful than anything we have heard on earth and one day we will hear it and our joy will be without words. Call me crazy but there is something greater than this. It's out there in the cosmos somewhere. I hope what I do here with my time on earth makes me worthy to be in His presence because I think there will be no pain, no fear, no sickness - only Love.
