- The Annaprashana (Sanskrit: अन्नप्राशन, Annaprāśana, Bengali: অন্নপ্রাশন, Odia: ଅନ୍ନପ୍ରାଶନ) also known as Annaprashana vidhi, Annaprasan or Anna-prasanam, is a Hindu rite of passage (Saṃskāra) that marks an infant's first intake of food other than milk. The term annaprashana means "eating of cooked food". In Vedic Hindu culture the child cannot eat rice until Annaprashana has occurred. [1] [2] Importance is given to rice because of its symbolism as a life-sustaining food and a sacred food in the form of kheer. The Annaprashana remains an important milestone and the ceremony is celebrated in Nepal and India.[1] It is also known as MukheBhat in West Bengal, Choroonu in Kerala, and Bhath Khulai in Himachal Pradesh. [3] In Nepal, it is also called Pasni.

@@MRC647 Annaprashana has lot more rituals as per tradition( for example, the baby is made to pick up 3 objects). From the looks of it , many rituals were ommitted.Ululation and conch shell blowing too didn't happen, as per "tradition".
@@S.Ghosh_221 I don't know all these traditions fully, but I believe as long as core of traditions is being followed , it's ok if a few details are missed. The fact that baby and her parents met mama mami ( or any other similar scenario with other family members) and everybody enjoyed and had great time together , that's all matters. Following rituals should not be so rigid also that the joy is taken away from those rituals. That's what I believe. To each his own though.

Exactly same thing happened to my baby when he was 5months old.He too had a colic issue..i had a tough time feeding him he used to take milk only while sleeping..
Things got better when we started solids for him.

Congratulations ziana baby for first bite of the Ann 👼let's grow as fast as you can have one pizza all alone, charu give her daal ka pani in the beginning as it is the lite food to digest, then gradually start giving cereal, mashed potatoes, soup, daliya, ghiya and veggies..just need to observe what food suits her and what doesn't..and avoid giving her chick pea.
god bless ziana on her annaprashan....the best food is geela rice and sometimes you can mix little masoor dal or soft mashed potato ..avoid cerelac from outside ..I did this for my son and now he eats almost everything from our family pot.
Congrats, Ziana is stepped up towards eating and now she will learn and start eating new things.
Start with rice water, dal water, coco water for few days then move towards dal n rice khichdi, porridge, fresh fruit jucies and all semi liquid items.
When u try new food item, keep feeding same for a week bciz baby takes week for developing taste.
And starting with 1-2 spoon and gradually with days keep increasing quantity.

You can start with Puree, apple, sweet potato, carrot and more 1 at a time so that we can come to know what is suiting the baby, i too have a small baby and she loves all these , happy annaprashan to ziana and God bless her 🥰

Hi charu ma'am....meri baby bhi 6month s ki huyi abhi kuch din pehle...usko bhi अन्नप्राशन kiya. I used to give ....Daal ka pani ,mashed banana, potatoes,and fruits. But she is small ryt now ,abi she hardly eats One or two spoon quantity.

Hii Charu . Start with rice water , than introduce dal water, than mix porridge of rice and dal and add little ghee for easy digestion.
Same thing had happened with my daughter when she was four and a half months old. One day she had stopped drinking milk suddenly and then her doc changed the brand of her formula milk. along with that we also changed her feeding bottles also (used different brand) and guess what she started drinking milk. You can try that. She would have got bored with the taste of her formula milk which she would have been taking.

Charu, ragi kheer, makhana ko roast karke grind karo powder form , aur thoda sa namak aur garam pani me mix kar ke khilao, same kheer sooji ki bana sakti ho
First of all grind rice like rava and store. This can be given as daal rice, khichdi, upma Or anything. See to it that you cook rice with lots of water. Give ghee, moong dal, avoid tur dal it is difficult to digest. In the first year usually what ever you give a child will eat. Once child sits give boiled veg and fruits to eat on her own
