Thank you for this tutorial Pluvias! I really struggle with setting the mood in my comic. I’ve tried looking at other comics, but no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t get it right! This video really helped solve my problem!!❤
Thanks for this video! I was looking for guides on lighting in csp but basically every video I found was just rambling about how to shade characters and the principles of shadow/light casting, and I was like I know that part, I needed to know how to add effects like glow and stuff. I'm brand new to digi art so I don't even know the basics of what layers can do, so this was a really well laid out explanation on how to do and what they do! I think a lotta folk making tutorial vids forget some of us are starting without some of the assumed basic knowledge.
How is it that when you use blending modes you're able to keep them at 100% opacity and have them not just color over your characters without reference to them? Even when I clip the blending mode to my character it doesn't automatically just look good like at 4:10. I have to lower the opacity to make it somewhat work, and I just feel like the blending modes become useless when I do that.
I use light & pale colors when overlaying a character like in the timestamp you mentioned. When using Multiply & Linear Burn always keep your color as light as possible, and you can darken it as needed
@@Pluvias yo that’s actually wild. I’ve been using dark colors with multiply for the longest time for some reason. Just tried using lighter colors and now everything has changed drastically. Thanks for the help!
I have wanted a proper tutorial on dynamic lighting like this for ages. Thank you so much for uploading this. It helped me understand stuff soooo much better. I love you. 😍🥰

@@Pluvias oh I thought you used like a dark blue or purple for multiply? Maybe I’m tripping. I’ll give it a try, thanks!
No in this case I used a pale greyish purple. You're welcome 😊 enjoy playing around with blending modes!

There is a mistake, the shadow should be round, and its foot should walk in a curved line, so the face should be protected I hope you get the idea
