I will be honest...I shed a tear when he shot the Elk! U can tell he has a passion for hunting! A true gentlemen! Thank you for taking us along on the hunt.! God Bless you and your family.
Congratulations on a great hunt and a great bull. It never ceases to amaze me that bull elk will stand in place after being shot with a 300 WM with a well placed shot. Congratulations!
It’s a far cry from “real hunting” when you don’t have a hand in the hard, dirty work. Getting a big bull is one thing, it’s another accomplishing the monumental effort to get it to base camp…even a small one and just as epic/fulfilling. Next time, try it by yourself or with a Buddy, not a crowd. In the moment you let the last part of your bull down at camp…you’ll really know what you’re made of! 👍👍
Amen to that!! I have taken thirty five elk mostly just my buddy and I. Eastmans urged another shot. I have seen them stand there after being mortally hit. ???
I never thought about cooking an Ultra.... I thought they were tasty cold. :) Great job on the elk, and your right, we all play a part in the conservation of the game love. Keep up the good work.
the jokes about the bear proof tent lol.. bears are sharpening their nails to pick the locks... hahahaha awesome group of guys..07:47 mark .. But the seriousness when theyre hunting is great, learning little tips and tricks watching these videos. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with the world !
Wow. First the elk wind you and bolt. Then, later, you get another chance, nice angle, broadside and all. I was heartbroken when you "missed", and then... Yeah, what a rollercoaster that must've been!
God Bless Thanks for the Video Gentleman...Good Stuff Heart was Beating So Fast Felt Like I was with Yall...This my 1st year Hunting Can't wait 🤙Good Stuff Great to Learn From #Eastman's Hunting
Can't eat the horns. My dad shot a 377 bull in 71, hamburger came out as ball bearings. Couldn't put a fork in the gravy. His teeth and the pads on his goveswere gone.
wonderful, and a few twinges of buck fever sounds like.what was the problem with the cycling of the backup round? a little greenhorn on both of them not watching the bull after he dropped, oh look he is back up!. ( yeah we all release the adrenaline too early sometimes)
Got lucky that he fell after going out of sight. It's hard hunting with someone who wants to be the boss and call the shots. You tend to wait for permission to do anything. Should have put another round in him regardless of what anybody says. Nobody touches my rifle unless I hand it to them while I'm hunting. Guess I'll never have a guide.
Says quite a bit about how much people on UA-cam know. I've personally known John for 20 years, and my dads hunted with him countless times, I've hunted with him as well. If you've never made any error when you've been out, you're lying to yourself and everyone else.
@@Scrummer1823 what error are you talking about?! Nobody is mentioning any errors. The guide runs his safety through the whole video like he’s a 12 year old. He seems like a good guy and he made a nice shot. But he obviously went in the field with a weapon he was 100% unfamiliar with.
That is a Tentipi. They are distributed in the U.S. by Mansfield Outdoors in Washington state. On cots, 3 people can have plenty of room. 4-5 are possible if need be. With bunk bed cots then you could fit many more. Very efficient shelter. Used it in 20 below weather with no problems when the wood stove was used. This is the Zirkon 15 tipi.
I've seen so many people have trouble with there actions !!! I understand the heat of the moment but it seems these new rifles are loud and unreliable maybe just me
@@mikedegnan5252 that sounds good to me disable people get a pass on razors-- but for people that are fat and lazy-- use the quads in your god given leg's.
Your talk about trophy hunters and cow/meat hunters needing each other and how they shouldn’t complain about they other, those same comments can be said about free range hunters and high fence hunters, both need the other to stand against the anti- hunting crowd and shouldn’t complain about the other.
Really enjoyed this video, Elk hunting is on my bucket list for sure. In the meantime I will just have to settle for red deer and fallow deer over here in Ireland. I do a fair bit of driven shooting at this time of year, check out some of my video's on my channel.

A 4 min widow to pull the trigger and couldn't get the shot. Sweet
He wouldn’t have made it 5 minutes in the mountains without the Eastman crew
Thank you for showing the “taking off the leg” haha I’ve wondered why all the light weight hunter pack the legs off my self good on you 👍
glad that tip was helpful! Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for watching! Have you elk hunted out west?
I’ll never understand why people keep the stickers on the rifle, but congratulations
Why no orange?
I always laugh at the , the hunter is decked out in blaze orange, all the others with camo , no one ever said hunting laws made sense
I agree with Ike. I don't know why people carry the lower leg/hoof. Just extra weight. Great hunt guys!
Thanks for your comment! Work smarter, no harder right?! That was a heck of a hole to pack out of too.
Its faaaar from 20lbs per leg though!!
Some places require you to. Others require you to remove it.
I have hunted from AK to South Africa, Never heard of having to leave a leg on @@mikedegnan5252

Great bull👍😎
Thanks 👍
Great Job on the video very well done great job on the filming and editing
Congratulations John
Thank you very much!
Reaching over and touch a weapon with someone behind it to move the safety??? WTF.
Nice hunt
I'm surprised you guys didnt break the bull down the night of and hang it. But hey, each to their own.

"Hunted my whole life". Why is Ike putting safety on someone else's firearm ? Strokefest!
I love that they don’t trust him enough to run the safety of his own rifle. Says a lot.
You listen to him trying to cycle the bolt for the follow up shot? Guy could barely use the weapon.

Guide ever grab my rifle. It be more than the elk on the ground. Crazy shot.
Man that moose was probably the biggest I've seen on a hunting film south of the border (Not including AK, Can)
We had to pinch ourselves when we saw them!
Why is the one guy messing with the safety of the guy shooting? Aint he big enough to do that and be safe himself?
That elk would been shot till it fell over if I were behind that rifle!!!
Me too .
How was the savage 110 storm, I want a 6.5-284 norma and can only find it in the storm
You will like it, I’ve killed a bunch of animals with mine.

Looks like he was shooting a 300 Win Mag
How many yards was the shot?
It seemed like he took three days to reload and take a second shot
Seemed like he took forever to shoot in the first place

I have a model 116 savage and only have trouble with it cause its a lefty and I shoot right handed lol
They need to shut those roads to razors and quads. Use your leg quads.
That's what they did here in Washington State. It was pretty effective at kicking us disabled hunters out of the woods.

Such a stupid idea, so only the young and super healthy can hunt ? Those trails have been there for many years
maybe you should take another 20 minutes from set up to shoot. You want the video cost you the shot
