4 Months ago the Instrument cluster on the VFR completely broke, well the PCB corroded quite badly and kind off disintegrated.
So I was left with no dashboard lights, the indicator light was on all the time, no fuel gauge speedo or rev counter.
A 2nd hand Instrument panel on eBay was £135+ so I made the decision to rewire the dash, with replacement led lights Most of it was very easy but I then hit a snag the Fi light is permanently on, so I either have a fault or the is an issue with the wiring.
Fast forward to today and I have been lucky enough to pick up a dash for £35 and an extra wiring harness.
The dash is slightly damaged which will give me the opportunity to show you another product
And hopefully, I can make some useful instruction for beginners and the more Advance

Dear Nige - I've just been watching your video because I'm trying to find out if a non-working speedo light is likely to be an expensive and/or complex problem to fix. The reason for this is I'm looking to buy a Vfr800fi where this appears its only fault. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Mike
Yes, the FI light should be halogen. It is not first hand information from me but I 've read about it on forums as well. All others can be LEDs from what I've gathered.
Since I started this project I think I have found a workaround which means you can have LEDs in all the slots

Dont suppose you have any advise for a fluctuating fuel gauge do you? my 1999 viffer has developed a fuel gauge with a mind of its own, showing half when full, showing empty when full,, its up and down all over the place. checked and cleaned connector under tank. seems there is 3.6 ohms with full tank.. just not sure where to check next, or how to properly test sender.? thx
To check you need to take the sender out of the tank, and with the ohm meter attached move the float, it should read 1-5 ohms when full and 92-96 when empty. If you get these reading, then the sender is ok, and you'll need to take the Speedo cluster out and check continuity of the wire between the sender unit and the gauge. The cable you're looking for is the black and grey wire on the blue connector and the back of the speedo cluster and the black and grey on the sender unit, Then check the continuity between the Green and Black wire and earth... If there is ZERO resistance here and full continuity the problem is likely the gauge
