    • @heheheuhue6943
      @heheheuhue6943 5 років тому +7

      @Krieg Krazy ive seen a video of an older man who actually tested the aks in the 80s and 90s and was shocked about the accuracy up to about 400 yards. The reason why they are considered inaccurate is due to poor marksmanship of the terrorists using worn out guns. Russians were taught to shoot at the belt buckle inside 200m, since the zero was set to somewhere around that range thereby guaranteeing a chest hit.

    • @Irewiking88
      @Irewiking88 5 років тому +3

      A lot of the myths come from the USSR infantry doctrine. The do not usually zero rifles and aim completely different from westerners

    • @gcarvlin
      @gcarvlin 4 роки тому +2

      The AK, specifically chambered in 7.62, is a great rifle but don’t be delusional. As someone who owns rifles from both sides of the iron curtain the differences are very apparent in terms of quality, accuracy and use case. Russians favored the “tried and true” and mass produced while the west went to a lighter, more accurate and portable rifle and intermediate cartridge. The major reason why the USSR used 5.45 in the 74 was due to positive attributes they saw in 5.56 and the armalite-pattern rifles. The AR/M16/M4 rifles are more accurate because they generally have better parts, mainly triggers and barrels, and tighter tolerances from the factory.
      That’s not to say the new Kalishnikov rifles didn’t improve, don’t have the ability to be “fixed” with upgrades or can’t be accurate. I just think it’s kinda disingenuous to say the AK is more accurate especially when you look at it from a service rifle perspective. The M16 or M4 stock is far more accurate.

    • @anthonymilano9233
      @anthonymilano9233 4 роки тому +2

      Not entirely. Ak47s have a reputation that is both too good and too bad. They are thought not to be accurate, and thats mostly because they were designed to be the cheapest infantry rifle possible. So workmanship amd tolerance werent really thought about. Also, the standard 7.62x39 round while it can be pushed much farther than people think, is usually not very good past 350-400 yards. A new well made ak47 can be solid accurate and good looking. On the other hand, people say ak47s never jam never break, never fail, bullshit. Ive shot a lot of them, and ive seen every type of gun fail including the ak47. It holds up better than a lot, but its definitely not indestructible or unjamable.
      On the other side, the ar15 platform is more susceptible to jaming from dirt because its internals are just closer together. Some are better than others, but none as loose as an ak47. But their tight tolerances and solid receivers make them much more condusive to accuracy. And the inline recoil and buffer tube going straight into the stock close to the shoulder, just make the ar a gun thats easier to shoot fast accurately. Ive never seen a competitive 3 gun shooter who runs an ak47. By that i mean, ive seem them at competition, but they are there for fun, not to win.

    • @zackolander5568
      @zackolander5568 4 роки тому

      Greg Carvlin that’s why I prefer 5.45. I own an LWRC M6 and a Bulgarian ak74 (with some external upgrades) and find it just as nice as my AR. I do not like 7.62 aks though. Obviously the ARs have a bit higher quality parts and are more customizable, but I have ZenitCo parts on my AK so I still have a bit of customization. Both platforms are very good, but aks defiantly need a few more upgrades to be comparable to ARs.

    $2000 for such a unique gun is a steal, I think. Just for the reference - in Russia Kalashnikov SR-1 has a MSRP of $1899 ATM, and the thing is relatively mass-produced! Molot guns in .223, .243Win and 6.5 Grendel are way cheaper (~ $600), but I doubt they can offer such a high accuracy at such a long range.

    Have a twenty inch barreled VEPR in 6.5 Grendel that I've shot to a 1000 yards pretty successfully, though it felt like I was pushing it a bit. I'm using a Beryl style optics mount on it, which is holding zero, at least, but I'm also using a lighter scope on it. I think I'd like to get a 16 inch carbine made in the Grendel as well, as I've become really fond of the cartridge for hog control, but lugging that target AK around isn't as fun.
    Anyways, nice build here, Brandon. Really like the idea, and SUPER like that handguard.

    I’m pretty sure when people say AKs are inaccurate, they are referring to a standard 7.62 version. Of course it’s going to be accurate when you re-chamber it to .224, put a nice long barrel and a high power scope.

    Hey man i love your content, not only is it enjoyable to watch it's also pretty informative. You've motivated me to successfully build my own ak from an 80% with 0 hiccups. Ps. Just signed up for your patreon

    When people say an Ak is inaccurate, I believe they are talking about your standard off the shelf Ak that doesn't have hundreds or thousands of dollars in upgrades done to it. Just my opinion as an all around gun lover, but take a standard scoped Ak in 7.62x39 and try to do the same thing, I don't think it would perform quite as well. However, I commend you Brandon for building one heck of a nice gun and showing that anything is possible with skill and effort.

      Dustin R Of course not. My point is it’s not the platform. Compare apples to apples, and the platform proves it’s more accurate than 99.9% of users are capable of being.

    I don't think this is a "for the hell of it" gun, I see this as a VERY potent kit, with real world application, I would also love to see a 6.5 creedmore ak but I could definitely see that needing an oversized action but 762x54r and 762x51 would both be awesome too

    I saw a video of a guy shooting his 7.62x39 AK at 850 yards with an Athlon optic and he was fairly consistent with hitting a man sized target with standard tula ammo... 6 seconds to impact was crazy though😂
