  • I installed massive E55 AMG Brembo brakes on my 2005 E320 CDI and so can you. These brakes fit any 211 E Class and possibly many more Mercedes models. This was a super easy swap and the installation went perfectly.

    You’re right about aesthetics, the stock front calipers are extremely good and more than capable of superior stopping power, the E46 M3 uses single piston front calipers with huge drilled discs and that has excellent stopping power whereas a E60 530d use a 4 piston caliper as standard just like the W211 does...

    Flanged bolt. Quite popular in automotive application to save cost for manufacturers.

    • @bbkmm1
      @bbkmm1 5 років тому

      Here are some of the cost saving reasons in an automotive factory:
      1. one less drawing to be made.
      2. one less part number to be generated in the BOM (bill of material).
      3. one less part number to be purchased.
      4. one less part to be received and inspected.
      5. one less potential rejection for non-conformance.
      6. one less part to keep track for logistics.
      7. one less part to be moved from warehouse to the staging area.
      8. one less part to be picked up by robot or human during assembly. Increasing TAKT time.
      9. one less part to potentially create jam in the robot.
      10. one less part to forget by human assembler, potentially create warranty issue.
      Multiple this by thousands of washers per car, and tens of millions of cars. Even if there are washers required such as spring lock washers, captive lock washers are used to avoid some of the pitfalls and save time.

I've been going back and forth about de-badging on my CDI too. My thought is it is already a sleeper being a Mercedes sedan! What are you smearing on the hub just prior to installing the rotor? Anti-sieze? Whatever it is please list type, brand etc. Thanks. Great video as always.

    How did you know which AMG brakes would match your nonAMG model? I have a 2021 C300 base Benz and I wanted to do the same upgrade so I was looking at the C43/GLC43 calipers, but I wanted to be sure that they would fit.
