All 6 seasons of Travels By Narrowboat are available to stream on Amazon Prime, with Season 7 here on UA-cam.

Fat American here. I would have laughed and bought 2 cones, then left a tip which would have confused you, then called the helpline and suggested they promote you to district manager.
Greets from the heart of Texas Kevin! I found you first on Amazon, and really enjoy the casual cruises down the canals. I'd love to spend atleast a couple of weeks doing that, as there just isn't ANY place in the states to cruise like that. Keep the adventures comin', and be sure to shout if you ever make it to the US (or its best part, TEXAS). -Chris
Thank you🙏🕊✝️🙏
Saying "Rather Large American" is like saying "Dark Night" or "Wet Rain." I'm 6'2" and 250 lbs and I don't even look fat here. But obesity is an epidemic, even if it's preventable. You wouldn't think ill of a Kenyan who gets malaria, same thing with obesity in America. Have you ever had Chicken Fried Steak? Canjun Seafood Gumbo? Chicago Deep Dish Pizza? Kentucky Bourbon? Premature death is totally worth it!
Cold Stone Creamery - Take a pint of one of those hundred flavors of ice cream and then hand mix it on an ice cold marble slab with bits of candy, chocolate and toffee. That'll take a day or two off your life. Totally worth it!
Last night on Amazon Prime I watched the episode where you were attacked and I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that it happened to such a nice guy and I was happy you were okay. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey and your life views.
Good show. As an overly large American I would like to thank you for encouraging that fellow enlarged American and his enlarged family to go on a diet.
Your Narrowboats, your canal system, the slow travel and depth of scenery . . . You are blessed in Britain! I loved your stories.
I discovered your videos on Amazon Prime and really enjoyed the 7 on there for season 1. You have a rare talent for making the viewer feel like they are there with you and the way you tell the story is quite addictive. Well done and I can't wait to see more of your adventures. Are you going to be adding any further episodes or seasons to Amazon Prime? Thanks again from a happy viewer from across the pond.
Thank you Chris, much appreciated and you're very kind. Yes, all 5 seasons and new ones will (eventually) be available on Prime. All of S1 is uploaded now, only hold up being that Amazon physically check each episode before making them available, so out of my hands I'm afraid. Currently working out at an episode a week. Cheers,
@@CountryHouseGent That is awesome and I will keep an eye out for them. Safe travels and will have to buy you a pint when we are in the U.K. next summer.
I discovered these videos because my English parents are watching it on Amazon. I was with them for all of last week and got hooked!
I love the relaxing sounds of Aslan’s Diesel engine. Would you consider making a UTube recording of engine sounds as a long white noise video?
Hi Steven. This is something I've been asked many times before and it is on the (ever growing) list - along with my memoirs and a cookbook. :)
Add my name to those who would really like this...even if it was only 30 minutes long I could play it on "loop". I have moderately bad tinnitus and white noise really helps on bad days. Having it be Aslan at various speeds would be heavenly, I could close my eyes and imagine being in the English countryside traveling by canal....
Yes, I was embarrassed to say in my post that it sometimes puts me to sleep. Much better than reading the news before bed which just keeps me awake.
Regarding your Ice-cream story. AMERICANS NEED TO LEARN TO SHUT THERE FACES WHILE TRAVELING ABROAD! EMBARRASSING 😂😂
I recently saw your episodes on Amazon Prime🙏 such a gem, so relaxing! I have chronic anxiety and can never switch my every chatting mind generally☹️but on seeing your videos it has really helped me to chill🙏 what a beautiful life🧡I wish you well and enjoy every moment of your fantastic voyage 🌸
Well done for your reply in the icecream story,..made me laugh

Only in America... for rather large Americans! That was a good story and gave me a good laugh - manager should have promoted you rather than firing you! Blah!
We are not all bad though! Cheers Kevin - nice to see you on UA-cam
I lived in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire just up the road from the Kennet and Avon canal until 19 years ago when I moved to the US to live and work. I miss my daily walks along the canal towpath and your videos make me feel so good and just like I am back home again:~)
As an American ...well done !!! ...you made my morning!! hehehe!!!
😂 A pleasure sir.
@@CountryHouseGent scrolled down to give you the same props but alta cat took the words right outta my big American mouth.
Ha ha. Cheers. 😁
Cheers to you, sir!
hi Kevin .i am really enjoying your travels as i cant get out myself .i feel as though i am cruising along with you seeing all the sights .i go on to Amazon Prime to .keep them coming thanks again
Your "Fresh fish sold here" story was great. Briton culture has always inspired me.
And just like that, 38.5 subscribers!!!!! Congrats and we'll done, you so deserve it
My Dad saved me from the age of two. He adopted me. My dad who I love very much. We use to go on houseboats
Hi Kevin, Your story about the American and the ice cream is not dissimilar to a story my grandfather used to tell me. He was the Purser on the original Queen Mary. As you can imagine, there were always lots of American passengers on board. One large American lady went up to my grandfather and while in a storm asked my grandfather why the ship was rolling around so much. He looked up at her and said, madam, if you had as much booze in you as she's got in her, you'd be rolling around too! - There, cheers, Peter.
That ice cream joke was just great so funny I cracked up no joke
Brilliant vlog! I also worked in a motorway service station in the late 1980s. Granada Services at Toddington on the M1, in the self service restaurant. My claim to fame is that I once served Jools Holland a pot of Earl Grey tea!
As usual, brilliant! No matter what kind of day I’ve had, you videos always manage to put the smile on my face! Alas, I don’t currently have Amazon prime, but I understand your reasons for not using UA-cam the way you used to. Stay safe and happy!
Just discovered his videos on UA-cam and we are hooked!! So relaxing and interesting.
Best ice cream story ever! Love it.
That grin on your face telling the Lamborghini bike story. Priceless!
Often see the Rose near Spencers bridge when walking my dog
My three year old niece was watching with me. She said “that boat has a heartbeat” 😂 sitting here in the middle of the US and I don’t understand why you got fired. I guess I don’t understand the comment. Unless you were calling them fat. That’s hilarious 🤣
Basically I was saying that he had a big mouth, what with his bragging and all. ☺
It must be exhausting doing all the locks and swing bridges yourself. Love your Q&A videos. Take care. ☺
Nice to see you on UA-cam for once again :-)
Love your videos ❤️❤️❤️my bucket list to come to the uk... I always wondered about the canals so beautiful....thank you ☮😀😀now I have another list live on the canals for a few. But I am in the USA ... So don't know what the rules are but until then I'll just watch your videos thanks again ,Kristie Jones
Kristie, I'd be right there with ya on the canals if possible. Such a casual way to travel... at 5mph, you can take in everything. Greets from Texas central! -Chris
I have started measuring my days in "longboat" time. I used to rush from place to place trying to accomplish stuff, but now I'm like "I need to take the laundry upstairs? That's two stops for a cuppa' and a one deep lock, so I should be able to get there by tomorrow."
Ha Robert, that's about right. 😁
I did exactly the same with my mini it always used to overheat after that
Ahhh, Gent.... sounds, and sights are like heaven .... Our lives socially distant... now I know how sailors and space men feel... like leaving home. Existence of sights and sounds and memory's.
Nice to see your well sir, have a good one.
Thank you Sam, all the best.
Lol, your fired
no other n.b has that melodious sound like aslan . she's our favourite .
Ha....!!! Your experience with Vodka.....
When I was 18, I was due to go into the merchant navy....and on my 18th Birthday.... people just kept saying "Here's a Rum, lad, get it down yer neck!"
The heavy brown Navy Rum Type of course.... OMG..... Just remembering it is making me feel queasy!
I have no idea how many I managed to get down.... but like you.... I was ill for days afterward..... never touched one since. That was 52 years ago!!!
I cannot stand the smell of the stuff now....if someone at the bar alongside is drinking one... I have to move away!
Rather strangely: I have never had a Vodka in my life...never! So I have been spared that particular hangover experience.
I like & enjoy a very rare, quality single malt scotch......(By 'very rare' I mean once or twice a year!....not one at hundreds of pounds a bottle!)
Absolutely. Funny how a smell can instantly cause an uncontrollable physical reaction. Even the thought. Yack.
I got hammered on Bacardi on my eighteenth Kev that was 48 years ago and I haven't touched the stuff since a great blog.
Great to see you Kevin, really good stories of your past mate. Hope to see you again soon, all the very best Stevie
The best job I ever had was TO HAVE no Job.
Brilllllliant Kevin - thanks for sharing 👍
For crying out loud, you aren't the luckiest bloke are you, judging by these, and other stories!! Glad you have Aslan now, and the life that goes with it. Take care.
Well things never got dull. 😁
Kev, didn't yer mum ever say to never talk to strangers and get in their car. Safety first as always
☺ Yes she did actually but hey, what do mum's know? 😉
But look where it got you. In the middle of nowhere and the old bill not giving a toss, come on Kev sort yer self out matey....
Watching new episodes as they pop up. Still waiting for your cooking tutorials,,,miss them.
Hi Joya. I'm concentrating on the travel side of things at the moment, with cooking for when the weather turns and the nights draw in. 🙂
Just got round to listening to this and I didn’t know we grew up in the same area. You’re talking about St P**** as your worst job and I have similar experiences. Small world.
Hello there. Indeed it was that place. Long, long hours but the work was hard. 😆
Great video as always you have an easy going way of telling things , sort of like the easy way you make your way along the cut, not wide open trying to make the most distance you can in a short amount of time.
Worked Chepstow for years driving for Tesco’s..small world
Yes indeed. Was that the distribution centre on the Newhouse Estate, Paul?
Am enjoying your travels down the canals via Amazon Prime using a projector. Almost feels like I’m traveling along. Those tunnels are something else. Thank you for sharing your many adventures down the canals. LORD bless your journey.
Thank you Ursula.
I see your back in my home territory - Gathurst to beyond Parbold! Lived on the canal bank at Ring O' Bells, went to Newburgh School, used the Rose of Parbold for Disabled Activities when my wife was alive - yea, takes me back longer than I want to remember!
I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDS KEVIN! BOUGHT ALL 4 SEASONS FROM AMAZON. PLEASE JUST KEEP DOING EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE DOING! As we say here in Texas, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." We love your quiet adventures on the canals. Your narration is perfect. When i need to de-stress i watch your videos. I tried to do the same thing as you here in Texas buying a sailboat 20 years ago but it didn't turn out as well. I'll tell you that story another time. I also had a similar experience on my 18th birthday drinking. Another story for another day. May God Bless you brother. We love ya! Keep enjoying your life. Thank you!
Pleased to hear many of your formative occured in or near South Wales
Hi Sian. Yes South Wales, Chepstow and surrounding areas helped produce the fine figure of a man you see before you. 😆😱🤭😁
Absolutely fantastic! I watch your videos while my clients are off in the wineries. I've actually been looking at price's for a narrow boat. Cheers!
I have watched all 6 seasons of Travel by Narrowboat and enjoyed every minute. I wish there was more! I miss you already, Kevin. Cheers!
Just watched season 1 on prime, watched a little on youtube, just on with season 2, brilliant all of it, just a quick couple of questions, will you be navigating the rochdale canal which goes through Hebden Bridge..... Where i grew up, and also will you be navigating the Lancaster canal?
Kevin my friend, HOW ARE you? Started the first season of your show on Amazon prime. NICE!👍
Came here for facts about Gas Central Heating. Nope.
Ha, that's a new one. 😁
10,000 subs! You’ve come a long way baby ! ♥️Great story time for bed thank you Kevin 🙏🏻xx
Nothing is more dangerous than a boater with sense of humor.
I also discovered your videos on amazon prime. I had just finished watching them all when I thought I might look at your UA-cam channel. To my amazement you were travelling through Parbold and just about to enter Burscough where I live. We have a lovely little area on the canal in Burscough on the exit to the old Rufford branch called the top locks. There is an old pub called the ship which is locally know as the blood tub because of the history of barge workers getting drunk and fighting with each other every night. There is also the burscough warf which used to be the old waterways yard. Great work mate keep em coming.
That's really excellent to hear, thank you and welcome aboard. I may be wrong but I thought the Ship Inn was called the Blood Tub, because you used to be able to get a pint of ale in exchange for a bucket of pigs blood, as they used to make Black Pudding there?
Edit: Turns out there's 2 legends - both correct of course. ☺
@@CountryHouseGent ha ha probably there were 2 stories. I like both its all history. Love your videos Kev your a funny bloke. Cheers
So enjoy this stuff. Can you share with us the mechanics of traversing the lock systems? How do you secure your boat, moore up etc. Beth from the U.S.A.
Hi Beth and thank you. Check out Season 8 Episode 2 where I show and explain how locks work, and Season 8 Episode 10, where I explain my criteria for picking a suitable mooring spot.
@@CountryHouseGent Is Season 8 on UA-cam or Amazon? Hope you are coping well with this heatwave. Prayers for everyone having to endure these unprecedented temperatures!!
canal scenes and CHG stories -- is there anything better?
Awesome thanks. ☺
As they now seem to be making more of those wide-boats, what I would like to know is, how on earth are they going to fit into the narrow locks? I would think that it would restrict those boats from traveling on a lot of Britain’s canals as they will not be able to negotiate the narrow locks!
Somewhere...there is a map of the UK canal system...and it shows the stretches that are "Not Suitable/Impossible" for wide beams.
I watched a video from someone owning a wide beam...and they were quite upset at the abuse they got from "narrow boaters"..... who seemed to be "similarly minded"...ie... Narrow! Just no need for it in my view. If a canal can handle wide beams, then why not?
@@patagualianmostly7437 I think Narrowboats and wide-beams are wonderful craft and I so wish that the wide-beams could navigate all the wonderful canals in Britain, maybe one day they will have more canals and locks they can travel, I do hope so. I have never seen one in person as the locks around Bradford on Avon are too narrow but they can navigate the Avon river. I would love to live on either a wide-beam or a narrowboat but my body is in such a poor state now that I would not be able to manage a lot of the locks on my own.
@@patagualianmostly7437 I can’t fathom why anyone would be abusive to others for owning a wide-beam, they are amazing as are all the wonderful boats I watch on the canals and rivers.
Very enjoyable video made at a nice ambling pace of your boat on the cut. Which your anecdote
s match perfectly.
I'm not usually moralistic, but whoever spiked your drinks should be ashamed of themselves. 18-year-olds have died from their initiation into alcohol. And so have others plahying stupid drinking games and such (including somebody who was in the bar of a hotel where I was working in the restaurant). Anyway, make mine a double. Gin. Ice and lemon. Thank you.
I quite agree, a very dangerous and irresponsible thing to do. On the plus side, it's saved me a fortune in Vodka? 🤔
@@CountryHouseGent, Better than developing an allergy to hops type drinks....fortunately its cider to the rescue.
An absolute brill vlog. Iam going to give you 20/10 gold standard. I've been watching narrowboat vlogs for nearly three yrs now. And I must say this one was the dogs ......s. thank you 😃😃😃
Cheers Steve, I'm really pleased to hear that thank you. ☺
Six things I believe about CHG . Loves peace, tranquility, freedom, animals, people & exploring his country ‘s history. If only teachers had this knack for inspiration through story telling . Love the ease of sharing along each canal exploration, especially the points thru each lock.
Good to see you back on the Leeds Liverpool, Kevin. Hope your visit this time will be a much more positive one.
I am late in discovering your videos, as an American your story about your first job encounter with obnoxious American tourists, I loved your quick witted response. 🤣🤣
Well..here in the US fruitcakes are going nuts hoarding toilet paper..In my community..in SW New Mexico, we havent had any cases of the virus..but it's just a matter of time..
Steam engines are the best. Diesel is a stink fest. Lovely Chat Mate.....Seems we have similar living breathing taste. Funny, they use to call me Ghini....
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm from the USA and I'm embarrassed by the "super sized" attitude of some here too, sorry about that family and the loss of your icecream job. But I was in England in 1986 and and I have to admit that the milkshakes then were pretty dismal, more milky than shake. All in all an amazingly, beautiful country I wouldn't mind living in.
Yer so what I keep saying is Stop keep copying America, . That’s how we get into non British like messes. Good old Shakey I bet he could do with that 20 quid now. I always name my cars. Projectile vomiting, I hate whiskey and never drank alcohol ever again after the age of 33. I subscribed to your channel just an hour ago
I had driving lessons and took my test in a chocolate brown Mini Clubman. My boyfriend had a red 1275 GT Clubman (maybe it was just decals though) and they did rust like billy-oh and I could watch the road going by through the bottom of the sill by my feet.
Hi Kevin, just started re-watching your series on Amazon - seeing you in the camper van made me realise how far you have come!
Husbands Bosworth tunnel - first big tunnel LOL Also my wife watches with subtitles on so when you change your accent - (post accent )it comes up on the subtitles - too funny. Keep living the dream and hopefully meet you one day in Lechlade! All the best Mate
Are you back on main stream tube? Or is it still pay per view? Missed your wit and charm but your culinary skills,,uh lala. Yes I'm a cheap dude and did not go with you BUT. I enjoyed your shit.
I absolutely ❤️ your videos which I normally watch on Amazon Prime. I also love the cooking segments. From Louisville, Kentucky.
Wasn't that your second worst night? What about the horrific attack you were subject to outside a pub?
Is true Trevor, but this was 6 things you didn't know. ☺
Ah,I see.That was one awful story.Cheers.
Breath of fresh air you're not always happy fake and smily like so many Vloggers on the Cut. Very down to Earth...
Kevin, Glad to see you back on You Tube. Loved the stories, everyone seems to have an alcohol related one that is similar. Mine was Southern Comfort. Same thing, drank way too much in a short time period and paid the price. Never was able to stomach it again.
The annoying thing was that I'd never voluntarily drunk Vodka before, during or after. 😂
@@CountryHouseGent
Well, that was 45 years ago and I have quit drinking altogether with the exception of a beer on special occasion's. Don't miss it at all.
Working on Motorway Services = how to meet Britain quickly. On the griddle in Sandbach services, 80s , I once has a lorry (Truck) driver burst into tears when I served him his full English fried breakfast - I had broken the yolk on one of his two fried eggs. He literally melted and started sobbing. I fried him up two more perfect eggs and so he now had 3 and a half. I can recall that smile till today. Not sure what was going on in his life but obviously stressed. The hair that broke the camel's back.
You are a gentle soul and trusting but in this world people will take advantage of that, please be careful. I am talking about that drunk guy driving you like that and when you got jumped. I am an American and would love to visit the canals someday. It is so relaxing just watching your videos, I know it would be wonderful to actually do it. Does the smoke from your engine bother you? Do you breathe it in? I hope not. I also watched your Amazon show too. Very relaxing. Thanks for the videos!
Congrats on 10k, glad you put that yank in his place...lol
I absolutely love your videos. Just watched all on prime. First class stuff. Thank you
Really great to hear that Jim. Thanks and pleased you've enjoyed the series so far. Episode 4, Season 3 should be live any day now, and much much more to come. ☺
I like first car stories. Mine was a 67 Chevy Belair with a 283 and a Powerglide tranny.
Narrowboat travel churns the canal water, the once life blood of UK, like the chocolate in "Willy Wonka".
ROFL @ "make them to fit our mouths". It's unfortunate he fired you. As an American I find it hilarious you said that and applaud (30 yrs too late). It's unfortunate that only my (shameful to admit) overweight, bombastic & vociferous kinsman are the ones our brothers to the east are familiar with.
cheers
Actually, as an American I LOVE that comment!! 🤣🤣🤣
Very enjoyable thanks mate colin enniskillen
Such escapism at the moment with all this going on in Europe you really calm me down😀
I just finished watching your videos on Amazon Prime,,,I love the sound of the diesel engine.. so relaxing in itself. You are a good narrator....I enjoyed it thoroughly.. I would love to go on this type of adventure...good luck and safe travels from Kingsport, Tennessee.
If that had been my ice cream place I wouldn't have fired you. I would have given you a raise! lol
UGG, vodka, I done the same on vodka and orange juice, it has been over 30 years and I still cannot come close to the taste or smell without also being sickened.
Nice stories Lambo 😁 Just the pace of the stories and the scenery just make me feel chilled. Thank you. p.s. your story of Vodka reminds me a similar story involving Bacardi aged 16 😱
Ah the innocence of youth? :)
Thanks Kev , always in joy your vlogs .
good fortune to you. loved your video.
Theres no such thing as a good job its still having to work for peanuts to make another bastard rich !
I prefer the sound of David Johns boat less clunky and not smokey
