Hi, great video! It’s my dad who makes them all by hand in his little workshop. I’ve been using them since I was a wee violinist and I remember him trying out different designs, foams, wires etc. Me often being a little guinea pig to test them on. So it’s great to see you enjoy using them :)

What about sound? For some people the effect on the sound is important too. Some of them damp the resonance while others enhance it. I wonder about this one with so much foam and no wood at all...
I tweaked the EFEL a lot so that it sits up on my shoulder and stays off my busom. With the Wave 1 chin rest it's perfect and my scroll stays high. It never falls off the viola. Wonderful!

I think this looks like a great alternative to the ridiculously priced Korfker shoulder rest. Interested to try one! What site / how did you order them? I'm seeing Efel's website but it's in Euros, not sure theyll ship to the US.

You can pull out quite a bit but 10 cm may be pushing limits! It is a Frisch and Denig chin test!

for viola does it adjust to fit a 16" as well as a 17.5" viola ... concerned about tertis models with a wide bottom part.

Do you prefer these shoulder rests to the pirastro korfkerrest? They're certainly much cheaper.
Yes I do.. I also have the Pirastro.. the shape of similar. The EFEL is softer and easier to adjust! Very accommodating

Ah.. Good question! Thankfully.. It does not bend very easily and retains it's shape very well! So sitting in it will not affect this shoulder rest
