I love the honesty and the way you both resolve a disagreement due to a mixup. I also appreciate your little chat moments where you fill us in on missed moments off camera of your trip.
Great video! Love the honesty. Its my opinion that people (who dont travel a lot) always seem to think that backpacking around foreign countries is easy... I have plenty of friends who say "why didnt you just..." but most of them only know what they THINK its like to travel and rarely leave their couch. I think you deserve a lot of credit for always being so friendly and kind with eachother. I backpack a lot (Egypt, Peru, all over Asia) and its never as easy as it looks! Love your smiles, keep it up!!
Actually, it's great you have these little arguments together. You get to know each other and you always work them out.... It says a lot about your relationship. 👍
Every travelling couple has a bad day guys!! My husband and I had a couple. The important thing is that you guys got over it quickly, and you are safe in that beautiful hotel!!
Love that you guys show it all! Ah sorry you had to deal with a taxi like that :( it happens a lot in Asia as well. PS these in transit shots so legit!!
I came across this UA-cam channel and having the most fun following your adventures. Great job putting it together! Regarding taxi incident: don't expect they always have/use meters in Chile, Mexico etc. Instead, it's a good idea to agree on price before your ride. Better yet, have him write the amount on piece of paper, to avoid misunderstanding. It you don't have pesos, negotiate price in dollars. Avoid exchanging money with driver, more that needed for this trip. Also good idea to research in advance how much that trip should cost. Good luck and safe travel!
Argh few things more frustrating than not being able to head straight to the hotel after getting to your destination! That pizza lunch looks like it made everything better though, Kara's face said it all! Nice vlog, it's great that you guys don't pretend that nothing ever goes wrong but you get through it anyway!
Don’t say out sorry so easily Nate. This advice is meant only for Nate and not for Kara to see it. Get into your next work Nate and give her the space to figure it out in her own space. As it’s not your fault or hers. You are in it together. She needs to learn to take ownership too. But from the looks, you guys are in a healthy relationship space. Keep it going.
I took that style of bus between somewhere and Valparaiso. It's incredible how outside of the USA how different the bus system is!! I slept pretty well, it was an overnight.
It's amazing going back watching the videos and the maturity that you 2 have gained over the last 2-3 years traveling. Never seen Kara pissy in newer videos and Nate is always positive. You 2 have grown.
Every journey is great expectations, but all other difirent situations also which you can't imagine when you are at home. You are together in every situations as bad so and good. The most important: Keep each other, take care for each other, and talk, talk when you have any problem. God bless both of you.
Thank you for "...it's easy to lose perspective I guess..." Well expressed, Kara. Also Nate it was great that you acknowledged your role in the problem that y'all ultimately overcame!
Oh boy, yup, that was a rough day for you guys. Sorry it was such a rough day! I'm glad you guys talk about the negative moments too, but I'm also proud of you for keeping your arguments/fights private. It's thoughtful on both of your parts that you are so good about not showing your spouse in a negative way. Well done!
Awwww Nate.... It's OK. Hindsight is 20/20. My husband is just like you in that he always wants to make sure aren't paying a cent more than we should/have to, and sometimes it frustrates the crap out of me but I love him for it because it keeps us on track with our financial goals..
Disagree completely, Make your wife happy, big deal- just exchange a couple dollars with the driver, instead you made her walk in blazing heat, sorry thats moronic
Some taxi drivers in Chile are very honest, like my father once left his wallet with $500 dollars in the back of a taxi, the driver noticed it and returned it back to him, he was lucky that he got off at my grandfather's house in Santiago, my father tipped him $50 dollars. But half are not, can't remember if they give a receipt or not, but usually the put on the blinkers, radio or wipers or similar and it makes it jump. My family is from Chile but I haven't returned in five years. The funny part was that the really friendly ones were sometimes the worse, but it was only a few dollars for a somewhat short ride, I think this true for most of Latin America. I think the best thing is not to show you are a foreigner or just keep quiet as much as you can. In Peru the gas is different at every gas station, there no standard in many gas stations, but there was one, I think the main one, they refine their gas in Chile, and was to U.S,. standards, but if you get a horrible gas mileage is because of that, plus they don't drive very well there too. The south of Chile is very nice. People for the most part are very friendly. in Chile. In Santiago the metro is very good, it is one of the best in the world and very cheap to use.
Shame on Antofagasta! I lived 3 blocks from the Holiday Inn. So much has changed - not in a good way. I'm sorry your experience there wasn't all that pleasant. I was hoping you had gone to see the Plaza Colon clock but the ocean views were amazing - brings back memories of swimming there! I'm sure the rest was well needed!
Well done guys! that taxi driver was a thief, in Chile the dollar market change day by day, now are 650 pesos by a dollar. In Chile always you´ll be find good people to help a couple of lost gringos in our country
A couple of things on your vlogs - the music is super cool and they are really addictive! I think I've watched 20-30 so far and I just can't stop watching them. Keep it up you guys!
I think bad travel days make for some of the best stories!! Me and my friends always talk about those stupidly-bad days we had traveling and how funny it is!
This was my favorite vlog for a while! The best memories come from when travel goes perfectly, but the best stories come from when it doesn't. I can't believe you got a points break hotel available, that was on your route! was that preplanned, or a happy circumstance?
Well played Nate.... we could feel the weight of the world on your shoulders there for a minute but you did a great job keeping your cool :) You guys rock.!! And make a really cute couple by the way :) Cheers.
While I was traveling I sometimes found myself in situations like yours - I mean not having any local cash. It is very time consuming and annoying do search for an ATM. Therefore now wherever I go to the interior or a place with a population below 100-200k I take a lot of local cash and some USDs (10s and 20s). In case I'm out of local cash it is much easier to exchenge USDs than looking for ATM - even many hotels/hostels will exchange dollars for local currency. Bear that in mind while going to places like Patagonia or interiors in Bolivia, Colombia, etc.
So glad you guys made it to the hotel safely I'm glad you seem very honest it's not all peaches and cream when you travel it's just how you deal with it feed the girl will you
0:15 When I saw the car backing up the road because a car was coming at them head on, that's exactly what happened to cars on the side roads in Ireland! except we were on a giant tour bus.
I had the taxi scam happen to me in New York never minds SAmerica. Had to get out while moving in New Jersey once. I really think you guys should read up on your destinations more.... as n Aussie we have BIG deserts and tourists dies every year not getting the scale of the place. Atacama is like our outback.
In the bigger cities in Chile you should just use Uber and avoid these dodgy taxi drivers (not all of them, but a considerable bunch will try and take advantage of gringos).
Is there anyway you can pack more snacks (power bars etc.) so when you run into these situations. And the cash issue has been popping up a lot. Is there anyway you can plan or get money ahead of time for the country you are visiting? And in all of the vlogs you two have been amazing working together. Check this up to lesson learned.
Y'all are human, you're allowed to have emotions, even negative ones. It's nice that you can reflect back and practice gratitude though. I wouldn't have trusted that taxi either. Definitely time to pack some snacks at all times, especially when traveling to and fron your accomodations.
Travel wouldn't be travel if you didn't hit any bumps/potholes along the way......it's all about the journey, even if that does involve very deep frustrations sometimes. I'm sure i'll hit some next month myself, from Galway City to Capetown............heading over to Kruger National Park, staying at Nelspruit. Booked an Air B n' B for the first time too, been on 6 Continents multitudes of times, but this is my first Air B n' B...LOL......have to thank Kara & Nate for that one! Major price difference between them and the Hotels etc....even given the fact that Summer is nearly over down there.
When are you going to learn you've got to feed the Kara or else she is not going to be happy and then you're not going to be happy hahaha and I don't blame her
Please be careful. As an American Business person who has traveled to South America, it can be a very dangerous place. Can be very corrupt. Lots of shakedowns happen. I was so nervous watching this. Glad you are ok and made it to hotel. Can't wait for next video!
Not enough sleep & hungeriness wrecks you; take control of yourselves; always have snacks on hand when traveling. Glad both of you can get over it & move on. Now back to more vlogs. 😆😄😙💕
I thought it’d be cake for you guys on TV show The Amazing Race but this vlog made me realize that would be stressful for you guys, cause bad cab rides and money exchanges are what gets most people fighting or out of the game.
They would win hands down. Getting my travel fix with Kara and Nate. Here it is August 2020, the pandemic has cancelled travel. I guess the AMAZING RACE won't be on for a while.
I always try to stay at a Holiday Inn Express, rooms are always nice, and you can't beat the included breakfast. Why are so many Taxl's driven by scammers? In Bangkok the 'no meter' scam is so rife I now only use the Train ot BTS.
I love the honesty and the way you both resolve a disagreement due to a mixup. I also appreciate your little chat moments where you fill us in on missed moments off camera of your trip.
In a somewhat perverse way it's comforting to see when things don't always work out well. The challenges sometimes make a good story after it's over.
It's part of any true adventure. You gotta show the good with the bad, else you create false expectations in people. It also helps to prepare better.
Agreed with the comments here. Show the good with the bad - keeps it real.
Ack! Being "hangry" and lost is not a good combination. Glad you guys made it safely to your hotel!

Such an honest vlog. I love it. Everyone's got ups and downs. Rock on, you two!

Ahhh trailer bloggers watch each other
See Min Lim meaning in many Asian countries. Obviously not all
Nate absolutely did the right thing in getting out of that taxi.
I came across this UA-cam channel and having the most fun following your adventures. Great job putting it together!

This is what travel really is! It's when though go wrong that you experience the adventure.
I took that style of bus between somewhere and Valparaiso. It's incredible how outside of the USA how different the bus system is!! I slept pretty well, it was an overnight.
We have actually really enjoyed the Turbus company! Overnight buses are a completely different story ;)
I'm 12 and I have been to 34 countries, I'm very grateful!
soviet 1738 😯
It's amazing going back watching the videos and the maturity that you 2 have gained over the last 2-3 years traveling. Never seen Kara pissy in newer videos and Nate is always positive. You 2 have grown.
I like to see you guys happy and I also appreciate the raw unexpected hurdles and to see you successfully cross them 👍🏽👍🏽
it's crazy how good times fly by and bad times feel like eternity. Hoping for easy sailing!
I love it that you show the truth (and excitement) about travel! Enjoy the journey!
IHG here with lots of points thanks to listening to Nate 10 months ago - the Napkin explanation - Winning!!!
In which video ? please
Every journey is great expectations, but all other difirent situations also which you can't imagine when you are at home.

Kara’s ‘I’m not happy smirk’ was actually so cute. 🤣

Sorry to see you guys had such a "challenging" day... Keep up the great work!
Watching these out of order (is there a playlist from beginning to end?). Love the honestly on this~!
Chile is such an amazing country!! I want to go one day for sure!
Ernest Hemingway Internet
Smart move Nate. I would have done the same getting out of the taxi.
Agree. I feel like Kara overreacted!! I think she's use to not having bad days.
GOOFYGOOBERZ Z you say it like that’s a bad thing
Disagree completely, Make your wife happy, big deal- just exchange a couple dollars with the driver, instead you made her walk in blazing heat, sorry thats moronic
Maria Vargas-Salazar yeah but talk to your partner first!
@@passiveagressive4983 yeah the hassle was not worth the fight. Nate with his man pride

Sipo! :D
I have been in same situation Nate . Kara you give nate Iot of room to work good on you
The best move Nate. I would have done the same getting out of the taxi. Kara you need to make up for that hangry moment 🤗
Nate you are blessed beyond blessed to have Kara in your life.
Uhh kara is a bitch.... shes lucky for nate
Whoa... a little scary of a day! Glad it all worked out.Be safe and take care.
I would have gotten out of the taxi too Nate. You made a good choice. 👍
A couple of things on your vlogs - the music is super cool and they are really addictive! I think I've watched 20-30 so far and I just can't stop watching them. Keep it up you guys!
The drive to Santiago looked so much like the ride to Palm Springs, CA. The windmills made it seem identical!
glad u guys made it well.....I enjoyed each one of your videos and can;t wait to watch the next one.......
I think bad travel days make for some of the best stories!! Me and my friends always talk about those stupidly-bad days we had traveling and how funny it is!
Thanks for sharing the struggles!

Hahaha just another experience. Glad you both enjoy any of good and bad experience. Always take care.
Well played Nate.... we could feel the weight of the world on your shoulders there for a minute but you did a great job keeping your cool :)
You guys rock.!! And make a really cute couple by the way :)
Cheers.
It’s good you guys got out from the taxi!!! Good job!
Amazing videos.. Love them.. Which backpacks do you guys use? Any Amazon links will be hlep full.
Your background music has so improved! The jangling techno-pop in the beginning was sooo distracting. Good job!
Kara Nate we had a similar thing happen inThailand going from Ko Samui to Satun. I completely sympathize with you😀
Definitely made the right choice getting out of the taxi even tho it cost you $15 to use the ATM!
I think what I've learned from this video is that for my travels I'm always going to carry snacks...
Everything's gonna be okay💪
Nate should never apologise for being logical...great couple😘

The trials and tribulations of travel. But it gives you experience.
I honestly love travel days!!
Another good vlog , thanks for the content .
Glad you guys are safe!

Here for Nate 👌
Now that will go down in the books as a bad day, now, feed that girl!!!
Kara, please forgive Nate.
Glad everything worked out in the end :)
Lovely landscape!
Great video! Love your vlogs. Big inspiration!

Yeah this is common knowledge to many frequent travelers. They should have done their research
It is just me but seeing all of that desert scenery got me think 💭 of “stars wars”.. don’t know why. 🤷🏼♀️

Nate, you just rode the disaster train into town buddy. I agree with getting out of the taxi because letting someone screw you over is worse.
The next best thing to traveling like you guys is being an AirBnB Host. I am in Florida and I meet all the Europeans and get to have fun with them.
I'm here 6 years in the future and wow have yall come a long way. I'm loving rewatching some of your best video series ❤
At 8:20 Kara is making a point while waving that knife. Feed Kara to avoid HANGRY!
When are you going to learn you've got to feed the Kara or else she is not going to be happy and then you're not going to be happy hahaha and I don't blame her
frances fritticci 😂 so true
That's what I tell my husband about myself too
Girls find yourself an honest teachable yielding guy like Nate. He seems like such a good guy
You are a fantastic couple!!!!Kara ...¿Where do you get the music for your vlogs, Congratulations

What do you do for cell phone carriers ? Do you use the us carriers and pay international fees or just get SIM cards for areas you’re in ?
Was confused about the travel to astofagada and all the hassles if you weren’t going to go to the beach. Seemed like an odd use of points and time.
Some drys all goes wrong, but you made it in the end
Chili, working it's way up on my "go to" priority list
I would figure if you showed up at the holiday Inn they would be able to help you with finding a bank machine
I'm supposed to be doing my Spanish homework... does this count of research?
Si, senorita! :)
Estoy llegando tarde, pero sí, por supuesto cuenta!
glad it was the right bus
Admittedly I would have been pissy too, and I doubt I would have recovered as well. I am a brat- I am also working on it
I really wish I had started watching y'all long before I stopped being able to walk!! "sigh"🙏✌
I can't lie. The Stare made me laugh. A lot.
I always try to stay at a Holiday Inn Express, rooms are always nice, and you can't beat the included breakfast. Why are so many Taxl's driven by scammers? In Bangkok the 'no meter' scam is so rife I now only use the Train ot BTS.
Kara was beyond hangry 🤣🤣
Did y'all get your debit card?! I am so glad you're finally going to have that.
Amazing vedio 👌👌👌👌👌
i figured you would always stay at holiday inns and eat pizza etc
Just watching this episode now and there seems to be no episode 299? The videos jumped from 298 to 300. Did it get deleted?
My fav place in the world, so farrr
