Thank you so much for this video, really helpful. I have a lot os Sleek paletts and others that are just taking a lot of space. Now I will depot them to a extra large Z-palette and save space. Wish you all the best.
@MEimear I leave them loose as I need to take them out to show the camera when I'm doing tutorials. I have the lid of the pallet padded so that they can't shake around :)
@Snoo1809 Pack your case so that your makeup is in the middle and is surrounded by your clothes. Try and tuck the pallet between shirts for example and they should be ok :)
@Hinahon MAC eyeshadows are pretty stubborn, so i am not sure. but i do know that most MAC counters/stores still accept melted/cut/damaged packaging, as they are just going to melt the plastic down anyway. you could always try it, since the alcohol won't hurt the shadow if it doesn't work.
@Ananomouse I think some people like to make pallets of greens, blues etc. I sometimes do it with single blush and eyeshadows and put them all in one pallet, so it have one box rather than lots of little pots ~ easier to carry. Depot means to take out the original holder ~ hope that helps sweets ;-)
hey, can you make a video about what to do with all the paddle brushes you get with a new palette or eyeshadow? I have a ton and think there could be a better use than throwing them away :)
@hellokittyislovexDD If you don't want to you don't have to :) I personally just like all my eye shadows in a pallet so I don't have to open a million boxes :)
your my favourite person on youtube Im not one to comment on many videos but your really incredible and have such an amazing talent your really inspiring! I wish you all the love and happiness in your life and hope you continue into more success on your youtube adventure!
@xBinKyBo0x I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's amazing how many young kids watch my videos so I'd rather point out the basics than risk someones life and home.
Klaire! Can you put the eyeshadows back into their original palette after you de-pot them? Cus I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and dont want to take a HUGE palette :) before I depot them I just wanna make sure I can put them back in :D please right back!! Thanks!! Xxxxx
Why would you want to depot bigger products like blushes? Do you stick them into a bigger palette that can hold a couple blushes? Also, if you're repotting something, wouldn't it just fall out or do you have to use glue or something to stick them in place?
Can you use the surgical spirit with MAC eyeshadows that are in pots? In the past I used to cut the plastic pot with wire cutters, but then i'm not sure they'll take it as "Back 2 MAC"... thanks !
@IJulesI Are you sure that its also called isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol? I mean we have a ton of that where I live -- I'm just not sure it may function in the same way. I'm afraid of damaging my makeup.
@MrsDanceDoll If they're single eyshadows, blushes, or bronzers... it'd be easier to depot them and put them all into one palette... That way instead of searching through 10 blushes or whatnot, they can all be found in one palette... You can even make a palette with a few eyeshadows, bronzer, and blush to help make packing for travel easier.
@117JasR Depending on where you buy the product (in this case I have a nice set from Claire's) it has the casing like; 0:08 & has two or even three unneccesary holders casings. But if you take all the pots & put them in a proper case that won't buckle, if you travel with your makeup, it takes up way less space. Mainly though, allot of Guru's or Makeup Specialists will depot to save space & slap the name of that brand/name on the back of the pot for next use. Not sure if that helps. XP
Hey Klaire, I'm travelling by plane in a few weeks and I'm going to put my eyeshadows in the luggage (not the hand luggage, the one that they store away, that usually gets lost and beaten up). Do you have any idea how I could store my palettes and stuff so that they don't get broken?
@MrsDanceDoll I think it's because if you have a lot of shadows or blushes you can then have them all in one palette instead of 2 or 3 different ones. Space saver?
What color and brand was the red at 1:53 was it an eyeshadow? That's what I thought but it could be a blush. Haha o my gosh that would be an extremely bright blush haha!
OK--I'm a bit confused. I'm guessing that part of the reason for doing this is to cut down on the number of little palettes on the counter...in the drawers...falling on the floor...etc. But is there another reason? I mean, do the various companies make larger, empty palettes available for professionals . . . or large full palettes with the option of buying refills [Row G-purple] that are the same size of pan?
@ishaycallie : she usd's it ti mend broken eyeshadows too, so I think it's okay. It's also what they use in surgical wards to sterilise their hands before operating. It'sa tad hard on your skin, but not in this amount :)
:) I wanted to separate a set of eyeshadows but it scared me... Now I can! without destroying it! xD I just... can't express how glad I am!!! Thank you :)
Hey Klaire, I really want to know how you stick the makeup pans in the palette. I'm planning to get the same exact palette as you, but i see that it's not the magnetic types. Thumbs up so she can see!
I really wish that my Rubbing alcohol was labeled Surgical Spirits instead of, well, Rubbing Alcohol. To me, that sounds way cooler (rushes to design her own surgical spirit label to put on the bottles XD ) Thanks for putting a number of different ways to depot on one video, it's way more convenient than trying to search through a gripload of results. And a very big thanks for putting the links to the other vids as well! :D
Love the rubbing alcohol version but baking in the oven is also super easy. Line a baking sheet with tinfoil, open eyeshadow u want to depot and set it on top of the tinfoil, place in a 215 degree F oven for like 5 min, and the pans just fall out of the cases, super easy and if the packaging sticks to the tinfoil it's fine because u can just throw it out. Great vid thx!
I tried to use just the isopropyl alcohol with 2 of my MAC shadows, they weren't in the full pot, but after when you take it out of the pot its still in the black plastic, but it didn't work :( So I just used the hair straightener method...
I don't have surgical spirit or a hair streightener, so I've never been able to depot any eyeshadows. I didn't know you could use a lighter! Finally I can depot those eyeshadows! ;P Thanks!
@ilovedonghaeandsiwon In Germany you can get it at pharmacies (it's also called isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol)...maybe you can get it at a pharmacy where you live, too :)
You may have already answered this somewhere but I just don't know, what kind of editing software do you use? I'm trying to find an easy cheap but great software for editing because I'm getting a good camcorder soon and I don't want to have to edit my videos on windows movie maker. Yuck.
I'm pretty sure it'll also work if you use a hair blowdryer instead of a lighter, just put it on high, it melts the glue. Even though it's not as hot as a dryer, I think it'll do the trick.
@ilovedonghaeandsiwon I already heard from other gurus that it's the same or at least works the same way (and I also looked it up in a dictionary/encyclopedia) and I already used isopropyl alcohol for pressing pigments and mending broken powders. So it won't damage the make up. It doesn't smell good at first but after it's dry you won't smell anything. I don't really understand why it helps you to get the pan out of a palette, but it definitely won't damage your make-up stuff ;)
@KlairedelysArt If you wanna get real crafty, you could use velcro :D That way they would stick but also be easily removable. But it's probably insanely time consuming and stupid lol.
i love your videos. i esp love this one. thanks for sharing your techniques on hot to depot. i will def try this way. i am going to do it for my elf books. those books tend to get annoying. liked and faved this vid of yours.
Ok good I thought surgical spirit was some expensive liquid that is hard to find, good thing I read your info box!! I will definitely try it will rubbing alcohol! Thanks!!
@gigglez5667 If you wanted one big palette instead of lots of little ones, with all the eyeshadows, blushers etc in one palette which is easier to carry around and you know that everything will be in there :)
Is it weird that I could watch this over and over? It's so much simpler than I thought it would be.
This is by far the best depotting video I've watched. Consise, well-filmed, great narration. Love your accent by the way.
@MajalovesNick It's one of the Sleek Blushes :)
@chocolatecandies101 Yes you can :) It's a little bit more tricky with the e.l.f ones but you can do it :)
Thank you so much for this video, really helpful. I have a lot os Sleek paletts and others that are just taking a lot of space. Now I will depot them to a extra large Z-palette and save space. Wish you all the best.
Best video I've seen on this so far by showing us different methods and by showing which would work best for big or small thks :)
@MEimear I leave them loose as I need to take them out to show the camera when I'm doing tutorials. I have the lid of the pallet padded so that they can't shake around :)
What an excellent recompilation of methods, very helpful, thank you.
@Snoo1809 Pack your case so that your makeup is in the middle and is surrounded by your clothes. Try and tuck the pallet between shirts for example and they should be ok :)
@1364ecofreaks Lol they're actually my sisters straighteners :) I hate straightening my hair so I never bought myself a pair
@PeachyGoneMad Yes you can :) link to my blog post for where I get mine in the description box :)
@babycherryred Lol thanks for looking in the description box before you asked :) *thank you hug* but the information is on my channel wall :)
@hepcat288 I wouldn't know where to start to be honest because I buy all my pallets off e-bay :/
@Ananomouse I think some people like to make pallets of greens, blues etc. I sometimes do it with single blush and eyeshadows and put them all in one pallet, so it have one box rather than lots of little pots ~ easier to carry. Depot means to take out the original holder ~ hope that helps sweets ;-)
that is so frikkin weird just last night i was thinking of how to depot my sleek blushes and you make this video..your a life saver..thank you
I love the surgical spirit idea/method! Very clever Klaire :] I'll definitely be trying it!
@atchoum87 The link to my blog post about it is in the description box :)
@darine39 I'll try and get something like that done on my blog :)
hey, can you make a video about what to do with all the paddle brushes you get with a new palette or eyeshadow? I have a ton and think there could be a better use than throwing them away :)
Thank you for this tutorial. I recently acquired a beautiful antique compact that now contains a depotted face powder and its puff. Cheers!
@BTRmirandalover24 I'll be recording videos for my Halloween series in the next few weeks :)
Oh and what is your review on the elf palette you showed at the beginning of this video? Thanks again!!
@hellokittyislovexDD If you don't want to you don't have to :) I personally just like all my eye shadows in a pallet so I don't have to open a million boxes :)
I use the straightners method - I didnt realsie you could use surgical spirit!! Nice Video Klaire!! You're so informative!! xx
You are amazing. Everytime you upload a new video it instantly makes me so happy :)
Would these methods work for mineralized eye shadow pots and blushes?
Great tutorial, btw :)
I love how you give like a billion methods :D
I was wondering when you put the eyeshadows and blushes in the new palette do you just leave them loosely in the palette or do you glue them in? :)
@MEimear you can always put magnets to the eye shadows and have an empty palette yhats magnified too so they "stick together "
your my favourite person on youtube Im not one to comment on many videos but your really incredible and have such an amazing talent your really inspiring! I wish you all the love and happiness in your life and hope you continue into more success on your youtube adventure!
@xBinKyBo0x I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's amazing how many young kids watch my videos so I'd rather point out the basics than risk someones life and home.
i already knew how to depot stuff, but i just watched it cause i absoloutl love your videos/voice
Klaire! Can you put the eyeshadows back into their original palette after you de-pot them? Cus I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and dont want to take a HUGE palette :) before I depot them I just wanna make sure I can put them back in :D please right back!! Thanks!! Xxxxx

Klaire, how do you make sure your eyeshadows don't move around in the palette, since the one from Celia-Makeup isn't magnetic?
Hey Klaire, I'm travelling by plane in a few weeks and I'm going to put my eyeshadows in the luggage (not the hand luggage, the one that they store away, that usually gets lost and beaten up).
Do you have any idea how I could store my palettes and stuff so that they don't get broken?
I never would have thought of the lighter or the hair straightener, thanks!
in your opinion, what is the best way to depot larger shadows and blushers without breaking them?
@MrsDanceDoll I think it's because if you have a lot of shadows or blushes you can then have them all in one palette instead of 2 or 3 different ones. Space saver?
Where did u get the empty cases from?? BTW thanks for the vid it was great ! i had no clue u could "depot" your make up
@KlairedelysArt Klaire can you do a makeup look using the elf palette your showing on your video daytime to night time :)?
Sometimes I watch your videos just to hear your voice LOL. Not in a creepy way, I just really like your accent and the way you speak ;D
I never heard of surgical spirit before. What is it exactly? Is it just alcohol?
@AmytheQueenofDisney Well I would assume you do it to keep all of your favorite eyeshadows in one place. It's a great space saver, don't you think?
What color and brand was the red at 1:53 was it an eyeshadow? That's what I thought but it could be a blush. Haha o my gosh that would be an extremely bright blush haha!

But if the surgical alcohol or something gets into the shadows won't it damage the powder or sting/be harmful your eyes ? :/
Thumbs up so she can see!
can u please do a room tour?or what's in my purse or a makeup collection video?
And where do you finally put the eyeshadows in :D?!
I really wish that my Rubbing alcohol was labeled Surgical Spirits instead of, well, Rubbing Alcohol. To me, that sounds way cooler (rushes to design her own surgical spirit label to put on the bottles XD )
Thanks for putting a number of different ways to depot on one video, it's way more convenient than trying to search through a gripload of results. And a very big thanks for putting the links to the other vids as well! :D

the pallet u have would it fit mac pan shadows? and would it need anything extra to make it stick on the palette?
I tried to use just the isopropyl alcohol with 2 of my MAC shadows, they weren't in the full pot, but after when you take it out of the pot its still in the black plastic, but it didn't work :( So I just used the hair straightener method...
My hands are super dirty after I depoted a 62 pallets 😂
You have just made my life easier by showing this vid. Thanks!
Hey Klaire. I looked at the Description box but I couldn't find it.. The blush at 1:57 - where is it from ???
I adore your videos, they're so helpful and artistic! Thank you for sharing Klaire. : )
can you do a tutorial on how to make your own gel liner please?
Can these methods be used to depot powder compacts? For example E.L.F Clarifying Pressed Powder.
What is Surgical Spirit? What is it made out of? Where do you get it? Thanks!
I don't have surgical spirit or a hair streightener, so I've never been able to depot any eyeshadows. I didn't know you could use a lighter! Finally I can depot those eyeshadows! ;P Thanks!
@ilovedonghaeandsiwon In Germany you can get it at pharmacies (it's also called isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol)...maybe you can get it at a pharmacy where you live, too :)
do you use that hair straightener often?
What brand were the first eyeshadows from?and where could I buy them?

Yes companies do make large empty palettes. There are palettes like the Z palette, Unni Palette and glamrx palette! :)
I love how we can see you and the camera reflected in the mirror at some point :D I love it even more that we have the same camera 8D
@ilovedonghaeandsiwon I already heard from other gurus that it's the same or at least works the same way (and I also looked it up in a dictionary/encyclopedia) and I already used isopropyl alcohol for pressing pigments and mending broken powders. the alcohol wont affect the eyeshadow?
I'm sorry, this might seem like a silly question, but why would you take it out?
Hi, what is the purpose of depoting blushes and eyeshadow?
@akeny1 Sirgical spirit is simply rubbing alcohol in the us :D
Hi, is the whole Celia palette magnetize? l
can you tell me where i can get an empty pallete from?
can u also use rubbing alchol
i love your videos. i esp love this one. thanks for sharing your techniques on hot to depot. i will def try this way. i am going to do it for my elf books. those books tend to get annoying. liked and faved this vid of yours.
Where do you get your empty makeup palettes?!?
Ok good I thought surgical spirit was some expensive liquid that is hard to find, good thing I read your info box!! I will definitely try it will rubbing alcohol! Thanks!!
is surgical spirit the same as alcohol?
Hi Klare, I know its only August and is WAYYY early to be asking this, but can you do a Halloween series? :)
where can i buy surgical spirit?
@16sweetpea If you click where she got her palette from, you can get to it from there, just scroll down :)
@gigglez5667 If you wanted one big palette instead of lots of little ones, with all the eyeshadows, blushers etc in one palette which is easier to carry around and you know that everything will be in there :)
where did you get that "pallet" from
@itseffinsexxitime You can use vodka :)
this is SOOO helpful. No sarcasm, i'm serious. U do not know how much it means to me
i did this and it kinda worked but does da litter one work
you said grease proof paper do you mean like wax paper for cooking?
Also, @traggle1, z palette's r cheap & come in many sizes and ship anywhere, check out their website or buy on eBay.
how do you put together a broken blush or eyeshadow??????'
