What I love about Heartsounds is that they really have their own sound. Its a great catchy, mellow tinge to a racing, fast, melodically creative and interesting punk instrumentation. The same words can describe many band's sounds, but there's a feeling in Heartsounds that is unmatched, and I can't think of words to describe. Their songs never tire for me, and a 20 minute epic such as Dualistic Nihilist proves that. I hope Heartsounds continues making music because all of their records are incredible and unique in a world where a lot of punk can be bland.
You must not listen to much to melodic hardcore/punk because this sounds like the rest of it. If their voices were a big gruffer, this would basically be a Wilhelm song.
Man, this is the best melodic hardcore band!!! It could never end! My whole life listening to this style and heartsounds is amazing!! They have to back and come to Brazil!!!!
Every time a new HS record drops, I find myself spurred harder towards writting music. You guys just make this special brand of your own that inspires so many people, including myself. Thank you for working hard and keep it up!
This song/album is truly an epic. Not since NOFX's "The Decline" has something of this level been attempted within the punk community. It is too early to tell, but I would hedge to bet "Dualistic Nihilist" will sustain as well, if not better, than this previous work. The ability of Heartsounds to cohesively arrange a variety of tempos, melodies, harmonies, dissonances, and volumes is beyond impressive. I have always found the interplay between Ben and Laura's voices - both with regards to their call and response and harmonization - to be unique; "Dualistic Nihilist" expands beyond what they have achieved in the past while continuing to share expressive and unique guitar work. Trey and Kyle's ability to not only provide a solid rhythmic foundation for Ben and Laura but to make the drums and bass, respectively, leading instruments in this arrangement makes this band something special. Furthermore, the subject matter explored is worthwhile and shows great reflection. Heartsounds has a sound, voice, and thoughtfulness that helps them to stand apart from other acts in an era where the amount of music seems to overwhelm an individual. I am looking forward to listening to this album for years to come. Thank you for your great work!
Suuuuuuuper good! Love how it plays all the way through and encourages people to actually maintain some sort of attention span. Always loved Light this City too by the way!
Wow ! I'm a fan of this band since my 14 years old ! This band is my teenager boys dream ! I'm 22 years old right now and this song convince me that this pop punk band is one of the best of the world ! Great drum rythms, entertaining guitar, gorgeous voices ! All the best qualities of the heartsounds band great members !
It's fucking heartsounds dude, it sounds like heartsounds. God dammit😢😢😢...tears of joy...You kill it everytime. love finding the subtle musical intricacies in your albums. This one already sounds like it was a lot of work. Keep goin' you guys. Let's get up there to HX!!!!
I think half of the views on this are me. I've been listening nonstop since it came out. I'm living in Brasil but this music brings me back to me California roots.
Somehow managed to get to 2017 having never heard of this band. Feels good to hear this album plus the back catalog! "I'm pulling the anchor down" portion of this song reminds me of A Wilhelm Scream for some reason...love it. Great EP and great sounding band!
Took a 55 mile bike ride with this blaring from my phone on my arm...not even sure how many times i heard it, but the nature of it being a single track made it feel like it was one reallllllllllllllly long amazing track!
