I've run heads with worse cracks than that G, never caused any issues, wait til they start tracking up the port before worrying.. Looking forward to see how it revs, my 1860 with diesel crank was a lot more sluggish than my rubber lump 1660
one of them already is going up the port, but in anycase, neither myself or the owner want to use a cracked head and the owner has already dropped me off another couple of heads so its not a big deal
Yeah I spent a few hours port matching a 1300 head only to notice mine had a crack in the exhaust valve seat after I'd finished tidying up when it was all done. Got the motor for free put it in my escort anyway and it's been fine for 1000s of kilometres. Got a spare motor I'll get round to building one day, hopefully it doesn't have any cracks anywhere, I'll have it tested of I ever do build it up.
Hey, what pistons were these in this video? I opened up my x/flow this week and found a set like this and the rest of the motor turned out to be not stock and I haven't been able to identify them beyond the point that they are a 1300 bowl.
As it’s for road use and the big capacity will keep revs down I’m going to stick with triple grove valves as they are much better for keeping the valve seats in good shape, obviously it’s going to get new valves!
Crossflow is a slang term, no crossflow exists never has. They are called 'kent engines'. As they were made by kent through ford. Crossflow is mearly the way the gasses cross the head. Pinto is another. Does not exist apart from our slang. Its another 'kent'
Maybe so, but for the last 40 years I’ve been around them they have always been called that. I don’t get clients ring me up and ask about “Kent’s” they ask me about x/flow and pinto, is it any different to me using the nickname I have for one of my granddaughters? In fact most of the family now use that nickname :)
I'll always love a crossflow
Great video keep up the good work. Thank u for sharing!!👍😊
Thank you, I will

Look on the bright side. Ever problem is a ‘solution opportunity’. 👍😄
Nice nice nice

they are just normal 1300 cc pistons, but i cut the skirt off to clear the crank counterweights
Hi Graham, will you be replacing with single groove valves?
As it’s for road use and the big capacity will keep revs down I’m going to stick with triple grove valves as they are much better for keeping the valve seats in good shape, obviously it’s going to get new valves!
The core or centre of the material does nothing.
Its surplus to requirements.
I'm sure Reed Cams USA were gundrilling camshafts years ago.
valves scrap, head scrap mmm

Do u balance your rods?
Not always, generally steel rods a are in well balanced sets.
