I am heading to Northern Spain 🇪🇸 this spring. Now I'm looking forward to it even more!
I hope you have a great time!!
Marc -- love all your videos! Another great one. I biked the Camino de Santiago in 2009, and traveling through the northern wine region was so beautiful. There were even a few wineries that had a free flowing tap of wine for the pilgrims to pour from. It was such an incredible experience. I'm going try to find some Nivarius. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I'd love to do the Pilgrimage route one day. That must have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That Nivarius is a funky white wine. I love it. Salud!
Amazing video!
Thank you for watching!
Hey friends! Who here loves Spanish wine? What are your favorites? What other questions do you have? Drop me a comment here.
Lately bring drinking a lot of Ego Bodegas Wineries red blends from the Jumilla district in SE Spain…specifically their Fuerza and their Goru Gold.
You should definitely try the high end Perelada wines from Emporda DO, in Catalonia ;)
Another great video Spain does make some delicious wines, One of my favorite is Roda 1. Marc have you had any of the Vega wines?
Yes, the Vega stuff is pretty pricey though so it's a rare treat! If you're interested in buying an older Vega, Rare Wines Co. has some great prices: www.rarewineco.com/producer/vega-sicilia/
Great video!
Is Spain the country that uses American Oak the most? And how does American Oak differ afainst French Oak on the nose and palette of the wine would you say?
Hey, thanks for watching! Well, technically America is the country that uses the most American Oak, haha. But yes, Spain is probably in a close second. As of the past decade Spain has been switching to more French oak though. French oak's main character is the aroma and flavor of cedar. It tends to lend spicy qualities to the wine, such as vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. Whereas American oak is known for being more woody, giving flavors of coconut and that interesting dill quality.
My favorite district is Ribera del Duero. Toro is also getting interesting as prices are getting higher in the more famous areas. Tempranillo is really a great grape!
Great wines, dod you know that in those two regions they refer to Tempranillo as "Tinta del País" or "Tinta de Toro?"
