    The Ribera de Duero region has more than 2000 years of history making wine. It is home to some of the most prized wines in Spain. Some of the most notable wines from this region can fetch up to 20,000 euros a bottle. To say this is the NAPA valley of Spain seems like an understatement.

      It's a relatable region for many people in the USA. I know they aren't necessarily comparable but for most Americans when they think of the wine region they think Napa. I personally Love Ribera wines and think it's highly underrated compared to other regions

    I was stationed at the Naval Base in Rota Spain more years ago then I like to admit. Enjoyed wine from the region outside of Jerez. Its a beautiful area with numerous Roman ruins. And the beaches are also beautiful. As a service to the community, we used to go down to the Rota beach with our equipment and groom the beach for them, and of course pick up trash. I'm a retired SEABEE. :)

    Info for wine lovers:
    In Valladolid (the province where is Peñafiel) we have some wine parties (we have 5 differents wine regions called "Denominaciones de Origen", Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Cigales, Toro y Tierras de León)
    In La Seca, in May we have "Fiesta del Verdejo, for 5€, you have a cup and 5 wine consumitions.
    In Cigales, in September, "Fiesta de la vendimia", for 2€, a cup and all the wine you can drink until the last wine bottle ends (typical wine "clarete")
    And in the capital, in Valladolid, in May, "Plaza Mayor del Vino", for 10€, a cup and 5 wine drinks (with the participation of the 5 wine regions of the province)

    A Spaniard from Asturias (Northern Spain) living in Orange County, CA. I supposed to go with a very good friend to taste the Ribera del Duero wines last summer. I was about to book the hotel in Peñafiel (We like Protos) when He suddenly got lay off from his Company (He is in his fifties) and we had to cancel everything. The Ribera del Duero wines are becoming very popular in California and I usually talked to wine lovers from all over the world that say that the Riberas are the best price/value wines in the International Market. I personally love Tinto Pesquera. Thank you so much for the honesty and effort in your video. Great job you guys!. You should try the Cider Culture in Asturias in the future.

      We love both countries so much. They both have so many wonderful things to offer and downsides to them as well. I like the safety and affordability offered in Spain. They also have culture and great food. But we love the diversity, colors, and richness of the culture and food in Mexico. Although it's less safe and in many places not that cheap anymore.

    I am sorry, it is just the opposite. Napa is the one of the many lands with wine grapes in all Spain of USA, because Spanish monks started planting grapes there. So, because it is not the origin, but the heritage, we are not the Napa of USA. We don't say, for example, the Emerita Augusta of Italy. It would be ridiculous, right? So this is the same. Napa is only a branch, not the tree trunk or (much less), the root. USA is not the beginning and the end of all!!!

    • @EatSeeRV
      @EatSeeRV  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes we know. But much of our audience is from the USA and knows Napa as a famous wine region. It helps them quickly understand that this is a large and well known wine region that for our audience 'Ribera del Duero' would never reference for them.
