This has been the best bang for your buck bourbon Ive found. Period. It drinks like a $40-50 dollar bottle. Very underrated
I don't think I have a great palate but thanks to covid, i uncovered some new hobbies like drinking whiskey at home alone. Anyway, most of the stuff i buy is in the $75-$100 range and I agree that its a high value bottle
I just picked this up at $23 here in Virginia. I’m absolutely stoked by the quality and the depth of this bourbon!
Yes, I’ve heard that it is the greatest bourbon under $30
Quite possibly the most understated bourbon on the market
Totally agree. Being from Alabama, I'm admittedly partial to Clyde May's Alabama Style; however, having recently tried Old Forester (86 proof), it has now quickly become my second "go-to." This stuff is really, really good, despite it's insanely low price.
Bananas foster and spicy oak, this stuff is highly underrated at its price point IMO. This to me is like a slighly toned down version of 1920 and a wonderful deal.
Given its price & good quality, Old Forrester 100, either the straight bourbon or rye, is very good to keep on hand; it's good enough to enjoy neat and strong enough for an occasional cocktail ✌️
This is my favorite brand of bourbon. Best value. Best flavor. The Old Forester whiskey row series is their premium rendition. The 1910 is about 55 American dollars but worth every penny.
The Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style at 115 proof is really tasty. About $55 US.
I love the old foresters 86... And I love it. Very solid whiskey. I will have to pick this up next
Straight whiskey can be a blend of same types of whiskies as long as they are from the same State. They don't have to be from the same distillery (such as does bonded whiskey).
Not a discount brand. They have a full lineup from inexpensive up to their birthday bourbons.
Its Rye sibling is pretty great too, for the same price.
Jesus brother! Sweet beard!!! Beard on!!!!!💪🏻
You referred to this brand as "mid-tier" in terms of quality... You should try the Bottled-in-Bond or Statesman varieties. They are excellent.
1920!
I don't believe the 100 proof bottle has an age statement, which means it would be at least 4 years old.
Try the Old Forester 100 rye, it's an unbelievable value for the money.
Mmmmm, rye ...🤤
Yes, it's an interesting rye, at 65% rye, it's in between the low rye ryes (51%ers) and the high rye ryes like MGP rye (95%ers). Also, the second grain is malted barley at 20%, I believe. Gives it an interesting mouth feel a bit like a scotch. Corn at 15%. Good stuff. Just hope the price stays low. Seen it start to go up in some stores.
@@xiamengbaby here in Kentucky I usually see it for about $22 for a liter bottle.
@@danfromky2018 Lucky you! By me in the Chicago metro area, it's been going for $24-25 a 750 ml. But one store near me just upped it to $30. I wish they bottled it in 1.75 liter like their bourbon.
Old Forester isn't considered a "budget brand". It has a lot of products in the premium category
How do you open the Bottle?
Use your hands
I'm going to try this 100 proof before I try to 1897 BiB.
If a straight bourbon is less than four years old, it must have an age statement. Therefore the NAS straight bourbon is 4 years or older.
Yes exactly 👍🥃
Not a discount brand.
To me it's a bit too smooth
Old Forester is not a budget brand by any means. The 100 proof is around $20-$30. It was the luxury export Bourbon for decades overseas after Prohibition. Check out the really cool ads
I honestly prefer wild Turkey 101 over old Forrester 100
I agree. 101 has quite the similar spice, and tastes less like syrup and is less ‘thick’
Respectfully disagree. In my opinion WT101 has a thicker/more Oil-like body which i love, however the cinnamon/spice notes are a lot more balanced with the OF100.
the 1910 and 1920 is wayyyy better
True, but they are more than twice the price.
