Way better tutorial than a lot of these people who go at lightning speed without showing which key they pressed on screen or worse not explaining why they did it
Thanks a lot Blender. I'm glad I came across this awesome software in 2021. Now that I've been learning and have mastered the modeling of 3D objects in Blender, I'm ready to learn how to bring my models to life through animation. I'm also learning Python to be able to create addons and scripts to contribute to the project in the future. Wish me luck!
Great tutorial, many thanks, but a quick heads up if your key frames disappear (they slowly scroll out of the top of the timeline view and disappear) when scaling time as mine did on Blender 2.82. On the Timeline menu go to the view drop down and select 'View All'. If I am doing something wrong here to cause this I would appreciate input. 32 years using 3dsmax and I am now translating across to Blender and its a wonderful package... but still learning :)
Blender should start their own tutorial series based on a project progression for different sectors of the software. The software is developing at a rapid pace and most of the sectors dont have a good tutorial on them.
can u pl clarify my doubt.. I have 7 cubes animated in rotation X. i want to make time dilation for each. Means each will have different timing. I selected the all 7 cubes in camera view and opened dopesheet. When i selected the cube2's key, all other Cubes's keys are getting selected. can you tell me, how to select only one cube's key amongst all other cubes in dopesheet ??
well how to put a keyframe without moving the object before the keyframe has started for example, i created a mesh, i put two keyframes, one is at 0 and one is at 10, during the frames before frame 10, the object is moving, so how to make the object stop moving and move at the exact time i want, like i dont want the object to move
Yes indeed you can, just ctrl+T on the timeline to switch from keyframes to seconds but also what orange porridge said is true you can simply devide the number of frames by ur project framerate and you'll get the length in seconds
I guess you have unselected the object to animate? Simply click on the ball again and all keyframes should be visible again. Keyframes seem to be shown in the timeline only for currently selected objects. At least that is my understanding, but I am also just at video 39 like all of you :-)
My animation has 875 frames so when I clicked "home" on the timeline, most of the frames turned black. Now I need it to go back the way it was. Please help me. Thanks.
@@PabloSanDev ok thanks, i'll try it later. Luckily I didn't save my project after messing up the timeline, so i just quit blender and got rid of the blacked out timeline that way.
7:17 those yellow diamond shapes at the bottom (the key frames) got turned into gray colour and it's on the line where the numbers for the timeline are, help!!! It happened when I tried to scale the frames
OK. I had to scroll up. Blender you HAVE TO fix that. There's no indication that there is additional info above. The scroll bar is hidden until you hover. With only keyframes in the panel there is no NEED for all the additional SCROLLABLE space. Nearly 3 decades making the SAME software, a UI issue like this should not exist. My first official gripe with blender.
I have a problem :,) So i have this rig that someone else made and whenever i open it in blender, the timeline isnt at the bottom. I can open the timeline using shift F12 but its like a whole new window. Is there any way i can get it at the bottom of the screen, like the default setting when you open blender? Im fairly new to blender so im not very familiar with any of the controls.
Do you possibly have small viewport playing menu in the middle-bottom of your screen? I mean the arrows and arrows with lines and stuff like that, not sure how to exactly describe it. If yes, then your timeline is probably hidden, and you have to drag the border of it a little bit up (the border should be black). Not sure if this is the problem, I am a begginer myself: :/
similar problem 4.1. I have no timeline showing......but if I go into the editor menu and click the box for timeline ( shift F12 has no effect on my file ) then I get a full screen timeline with no way to scale it to the bottom of the viewport
idk what is happening, when i do ctrl + 2 it pans down a little bit, and when I shade smooth it's weird like black and white metalic kinda affected by the light, and i do New blender general but this still happens idk what happened
John Nowak Kind Sir Oh i resolved it but forgot to update! apparently i had changed something in my preferences by accident, when i reset it everything started to work perfectly! Thanks again
so after making all this animation you did not explain how to save the animation into a mp4 file. does this have to go to another tutorial just learning how to save your work in blender?
How do you extend the time of animations? I've been doing simulations in Blender, water, wreaking ball, rolling ball and a hammer. but I can't figure out how to make them longer then the default 250 frames. I tried extender the timeline but that didn't work.
I wanted to find out how to get rid of this fucking thing, because it annoys the shit out of me when navigating while modeling/sculpting. Fuck this damn timeline.
"For hotkey users..." this is the most awesome phrase!
when it gets repeated soo many times, it always becomes a meme
As opposed to mouse squeezers? :J
IKR!?
You can... scale keyframes... THIS IS AMAZING
To activate waveform in blender 2.93, simply check a checkbox on the right beneath volume/pitch/pan
blender: V for vector!
my brain: V for vendetta

Superb tutorial
Thankyou very much for this video

I feel bad for the speaker having to talk so much for all of these lol, but totally means alot on this end, thanks!
Exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks.
Great tutorial, it start to make sense of blender main purpose, good work

I can't hear sound after droping a video file or audio file in video editor. Please tell me how can I fix this.

The cool thing about Blender's timeline animation is that - it borrows the methodology from Adobe After Effects.
Thanks you
How do I get the Timeline restored? I am using Blender 2.82 and I noticed that the Timeline disappeared, Please help me on this Blender!
In the upper left corner of every blender window is an small icon. Click on it and you can change again to Timeline.
well how to put a keyframe without moving the object before the keyframe has started for example, i created a mesh, i put two keyframes, one is at 0 and one is at 10, during the frames before frame 10, the object is moving, so how to make the object stop moving and move at the exact time i want, like i dont want the object to move
There is a way to change the timeline format to MM:SS:FF? (minutes, seconds, frames)
Bro u animate using frames not time, u can do conversions depending on ur frame rate for eg.
30fps = 30frames = 1second.
Yes indeed you can, just ctrl+T on the timeline to switch from keyframes to seconds but also what orange porridge said is true you can simply devide the number of frames by ur project framerate and you'll get the length in seconds

Thx so much for These videos!
Why do my keyframes disappear? The animation still works, but I can't see my keyframes in the dope sheet/timeline.

niceee
why does it not register scale in keyframes like it does with location and rotation??
Can we see the waveform display in the timeline like Maya?
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, try watching this channel's video on the graph editor.
How do I pull up the menu if I accidentally collapse it?
bruh i need this
So, What will we see in that video clip? A ball dropping where?
Does anyone know why my blue frame line is off track of the frame number? Like when I'm at frame 500 the blue line is barely at 20
