This guide is very useful, thank you so much Mr E, I've been maining Marth since this game came out and its very difficult for me to get his movesets right. Because I play online a lot, I want to be able to defeat other Marth players without getting nervous, I normally doubt myself a lot and call myself the worst, but by following your guide I believe that I may have a chance. (it might take me years to be as fast as you 😂)
I find DB forward>forward>down>forward to tipper nicely if DB is started from a far distance. Do DB up close, and yes, 3-forward into wait. Up finisher at low percent is an easy platform trap or Ftilt/Utilt setup . Down finisher does too much damage to ignore (also tech chases sometimes). You're right that you want them off stage, but if they're too far from the ledge, down finisher isn't escapable like Smash 4's was and should be used. Oh and... uh... DB1 is mad slow. You said it comes out fast for some reason. Frame 9 instead of S4's F6 (and Brawl's was F4). That's why it's not that good of an approach or out of shield (with the high shield drop lag too).
This is exactly what everyone is missing, it's not about the speed at which the hits follow up after one another, it has tremendous start up, an unnecessary nerf IMO, they should've left it the way it was in Sm4sh, hope they fix it in upcoming patches
I'm a big fan of full hop fastfall nair as an approach option. If you initiate the nair at the peak of your full jump and then fastfall, you will always get the second hit just as you land. It's good for getting over top of projectiles, and then quickly punishing with very little landing lag. People don't usually expect marth to full hop, because he normally doesn't have many options up there. That's why projectile campers seem to fall for it every time. They try to sit at the ledge and zone the short hop range, and get punished by the quick drop from above. When they're at the ledge you can get kills pretty early.
I loved the guide. I'm currently trying to learn how to play Marth to help me with spacing. I main Shulk and my playstyle wasn't working out as I normally never spaced. Thank you so much for the tutorial! Once I've learned how to space, I can casually pull Marth out a wreck some of my friends how aren't used to him.

Amazing guide, enjoy the tips! If only people in elite smash used these combos. 1-10 Marths I see online use Shorthop Aerials and nothing else. I destroy them as DK
It feels like the fourth input on dancing blade often gets lost if i spam out the first three fast. the main trick i've come up with is that maybe the visual delay is tripping me up so if i just zone out and press that button in the same rhythm every time that seems to work
I was labbing and found out rar nair 1 confirms into tipper f smash, you can either get the back hit of nair 1 that is on marth's body or you can cross up and get the hitbox that is right before tipper range. It's actually dumb how consistent it is, it's like the equivalent of falcon's up air knee, and I think it's something that'll push marth way further in the meta game
yeah dude, this is really interesting, I noticed it combo'd as well but then during matches I just found it unreliable to land the nair, like as the 1st hit nair is really hard to hit around the kill percents but I might just have to practice it more. Thx!
Honestly DK is one of my worst matchups with marth. I can't kill him and he just armors through anything I want to do. Then his ftilt covers more space than marth fair.

What happened during the edgeguard section: you have only a certain amount of times you can grab the ledge without standing on solid ground. After that you just cannot grab it anymore.
I would say try to use forward air to box out, more then using it as an approach, so basically when you feel like you have the majority of the stage controlled and you're on the defensive/ trying to keep your opponent away/in the corner, start throwing out some more fairs to set up a wall, but i'd say you'd want to neutral air to gain ground and when you're on the approach! You'd also just be ideally trying to retreat with a mix both when you think you're opponent is going to overstep the boundary you're setting up, kind of catching them slipping
Mr E Yeah that makes sense, I was also trying to ask if you there are situations where you wouldn’t want to fast fall your short hop arials. I’ve heard some players talking about approaching with nair and then di-ing away after using it instead of fast falling. Is this something you mix in or do you think it is typically best to get back to the ground as quickly as possible? Thanks for the response btw and keep up the good work!
@@austinwirtz2434 course bro, will do! Umm, honestly it just depends on the situation.. is there a reason to waveland on the lower platform instead of just fullhop fastfalling? the moment i can act on the platform seems to be about the same because of the airdodge landing lag. or am i doing something wrong?
Real good question, so honestly the timing is probably close, but wavelanding is a tad bit faster if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention depending on where the opponent is standing on the platform you can slide to them with the waveland. So I would say it comes off as more intimidating and less predictable too compared to just full hop fast falling since it's like a fast burst/slide
