I started using paper plates for my palette almost a year ago. They work great. Thanks Kevin.

hey Kevin. ur videos... how can i say asome? oh thats how. but. can you make smth more interesting. i mean i still remember that video with city landscape and that was rly cool. but what about some SPACE? or VOLCANO? or SEA LANDSCAPE?
Very pretty, Kevin. I think I would have the edge of that birch panel splotted with paint though. A bit of painters tape would work to prevent that I suppose. Are the paints you use soft or more stiff?
You mentioned baby oil,do you use it to clean the brushes?tfs lovely work.
I believe he does; I know a family member who uses baby oil (Johnson & Johnson) to clean their brushes. Like Kevin said in one video, it takes longer but it's much less toxic (the oil isn't toxic, the paints may be).
Hey Kevin,is there any way that you can teach us how to paint grass with the new soft round brush?......I've noticed that you have been using it to paint beautiful layers of grass........thanks for all the videos!!!
Very nice...also good advice...never use linseed oil or any oil on the surface for blocking in or a wash. The linseed and others that have oil will cause cracking. Even with alla prima (direct method) or also known as wet on wet...the rule applies for the underpainting..."fat over lean." You can use a medium..or even turpenoid natural...no oil...as the layers are applied the underpainting should be transparent (darks) and the lighter colors (opaque). Adding oil for highlights if needed for ex. with the direct method.
Nice painting..love using boards rather then canvas...the boards can be manipulated when priming to have texture or have a very smooth surface as in the birch panel Kevin used here..great for stills...portraits and landscapes...

Oh the Autumn hues...my favs..this reminds me of a place in NJ where I'd jump rocks..the variation of the foilage hues are perfect..
The light falls through the trees, giving spots of shadow. The level of detail brings it all together...nice Brushwork with the cascade of the waterfall. I saw two pics..not sure why..but good choice in adding the blue sky holes..very peaceful scene... Your narrative is so helpful..many good tips throughout...very nice work Kevin.
This came out very nice, like the saturated colors. You must have alot of birch panels, maybe ..can you do a series of plein air studies...then paint them in studio on larger canvas. Like a plein air vlog...the plein air painting you did is really good for your first attempt...you made it your own. Took the elements of your surroundings to create a good composition. The colors are natural, not muted. ..like in this painting more saturated, high keyed..nice.
I love you`r work, i am ar Dutch artist and i always watch you video`s, only i us Acrylic paint and that works for me, only i find it difficult to make mountians just the highlights. What can i do to make it a little bit beter? Thank you you make me how i am right now. i want to place a picture of 1 of my paintings but it wont lett me. sorry about that.

I clean the oil from brushes with a brush cleaner such as master's brush cleaner,there a quite a few brands out there for this purpose,i don't use solvents.
Baby oil is good to clean your hands too. Kevin you seem to have changed your style,I like it!

Jamais térébenthine! Il utilise un milieu non toxique. Selon paintwithkevin.com/oil-paint.html, il l'appelle "gel clair". Je ne suis pas sûr de ce qu'il est, mais il est probablement l'huile de lin.

i have one problem, when i start blending i begin to see the canvas and the paint absorbed in the brush, please what is solution ?
Foued Sedrati Hi, it maybe due to your pressure...for example...if you just painted in a blue sky...now you want to blend it...use vert light pressure...Also just load the brush..on the tip..shouldn't have to high up...when blocking in the sky..again using as an example. Are you using a canvas? And a medium?
Oh...sorry I now see you indicated your using a canvas...I think it's the pressure...have a look at Kevin's older videos like the first few where he paints blue skies and puffy clouds...he explains and shows the blending process.

Kevin, you said you use baby oil to clean the brushes, and you no longer use paint thinner. Then, while painting the branches, you said "very thin paint". What are you thinning the paint with? The clear medium? Or maybe linseed oil?
Yes, linseed oil for the liner brush. I use Gel medium for the sky. And I clean my brushes using baby oil, except for my little blender brush, I only use clean turp to clean that one. Thanks!
