- On March 14, 2023, the FIFA Council approved a revised format featuring 12 four-team groups. Under the revised format, the total number of games played will increase from 64 to 104, and the number of games played by finalists will increase from seven to eight. The tournament would be completed in 39 days, an increase from 32 days of the 2014 and 2018 tournaments. Each team would still play three group matches, with the top 8 third-placed teams joining the group winners and runners-up in a new round of 32.

Give me a break. Brazil is not winning the 2026 world cup. That's pure unsubstantiated hype. If the Brazilian national team does not re-learn how to play their traditional free flowing style, they aren't winning anything anytime soon. Their players go off to Europe and get drilled into playing positional styles and that's the death of what made Brazil amazing and dominant in the first place. Positional unpredictability and creativity used to be the keys to every single Brazilian World Cup win of the past! They don't have that anymore. Sadly, everyone in Brazil must prepare for a losing campaign in 2026. I doubt Brazil even gets past the round of 16. I grew up on and used to love their style. It's all dead now. Not to mention their players don't have the backbone to fight through adversity. Plus they are small, skinny, and weak as compared to many of their European opponents so they just can't physically compete. They crumble under physical pressure.

Ok, so here are some potential problems that I found in your suggested format:
• 114 matches, that can be a lot of matches to manage. Even the latest format is a bit shorter with 104 matches. But that isn't that big of an issue. 10 more matches can't be that bad huh.
• 9-10 matches to win the world cup, I think that's an overkill for the teams. While the latest format requires 8 matches to win the cup, only 1 match has been increased from the previous format.
