Champions league is for EUROPE not the club World Cup which is for the whole world. Champions league will bring more money to the clubs so no it will not replace the champions league
Nooooooooo why every 4 years, every 2 or 3 years was better, some players miss their chances because 4 years is too long, they get burnout or injuries in that four years span, if it’s in every 2 or 3 years we will get fresher n more newer players every fifa club World Cup and legends can participate multiple times, legends like messi n ronaldo, if they in their 35/36, every 2 of 3 years they will be like 37/38 for their one last participation but every 4 years they will be 40, that’s too old.
Only UEFA are allowed to overplay players...fifa should rather focus on something that exclude europe...cause they have that 7 and 10...while them two still play..people want them two to stay relevant...
My problem is you could have a team like Seattle qualify by winning CCL in 2022 last year and by the time the 2025 club world cup comes around they'll have a very different squad.
I thought of these too, but I consider it a non issue. Football in our era is purely transfer driven. My own issues with the competition is it has the possibility of clashing with national team competition & representation and offers the players little time to rest & recover. On one side, I really love the competition not because of it can crown a world champion but because it offers more content for me as a fan cos summers are really boring in the years where there're no national team competition. As a human I want the players to rest, as a fan lol I wish they don't and the issues above sadly aren't my headache and yours too.
I mean you can have a team qualify for the champions League, and have a complete different team the next tournament. The problem with MLS is a lot of teams will collapse after winning in a season but designe
@@aladdin3241by design because of the salary cap, its hard to retain “stars” and “future stars” , which is why they always go to europe. MLS is being held back by the salary cap but also i understand as some of the smaller city clubs like Nashville and lets say San Jose and Montreal would get ate up by cities like New York, LA, Miami , Chicago , Houston, New England/Boston
English guy here. I’ve enjoyed European dominance in Football since I can remember, but I’m not against the rest of the World getting a look in tbh. Football is a global game; it shouldn’t just be confined to Europe tbf
This is just going to lead to super clubs. Forget Europe for a minute. What this is going to do is create superclubs in every continent, since only handful of same clubs will participate every year. Look at it like the parachute payment clubs in EFL. Once these clubs start owning their leagues, essentially turning it into one club league, they will demand even more money, which will then result in a super league in future, except not just for Europe but the world.
@@sanku1999 Not gonna happen. its not a competition that will generate any real following. Hell, the club cup as it is isn't shown in most european countries
@@mrcuddlebuns1000 see the big picture buddy. Right now, most leagues in the world excluding Europe and MLS style franchises have 2-3 clubs dominating everything. If one of them starts getting money, even the duopoly becomes monopoly. These clubs have nothing to play for except their continental competitions. You give them Club WC and the money they are promising, these clubs will become ever more and more dominant. They will demand more money. Hence - they will start demanding more pay, resulting in a official super league, sponsored by FIFA.
@RetroProg what are you smoking? Have you seen a big club do a pre season tour? Literally generates millions. These matches will appeal to each and every foreign fan.
The four year gap can be quite a long time in club football. World cup qualifiers tend to take place over two years which guarantees in form teams but this club version risks having teams grotesquely out of form. But it's a great idea
Every 4 years makes it bigger and more special. The down side is that team rosters change quite a bit even from year to year and the team that qualified most likely will not be the team that plays in the world cup. I'm happy to see this new experiment come to pass.
@@laoch5658I dissagree with that. Imagine hyping up that your country has qualified for the world cup for the first time. The players have travelled halfways across the globe. Only to lose 4-0 against France, being their first and last game. I think the current system with 32 teams is the perfect way to have it
Sure the number of games would increase and so would the burnout. But with the increase in burnout will come more opportunities for all squad players. Probable 2nd/3rd choice players would be able to rack up 15-20 appearances per season. Wouldn't be the worst thing imo.
I really like this idea. I don't love FIFA exerting more control over the game than it already has, but I am very interested in club football gaining bigger global exposure. I'll never stop supporting my favorite European club, but clubs from around the world getting more exposure is a great thing. I'd love to watch my dad's hometown club Nagoya Grampus getting to play a match against our local NYCFC for example.
Absolutely. Funny thing about the critics of this idea, a lot of them are Messi and Ronaldo fans who'd go nuts on social media if Inter Miami played Al-Nassr in a Club World Cup final!
My concern will be the quality of football. We seen how injuries are taking a huge toll and this will just add to it. And if any of the smaller leagues lose any of their first team players they won't represent very well. All for the format but someone is going to lose. Only so much butter and jam for our toast. Great video
Kashima antlers were competitive in the club world cup a while back, they went toe to toe with real madrid. I don't think it will be too much of an issue.
Playing this tournament on a bi-annual basis would make sense to more accurately reflect the constantly changing reality of club football but I’m afraid it would only motivate FIFA to make the nations World Cup bi-annually as well. If they could make the club WC bi-annually and the countries one every 4 years as usual, then it would be perfect!!
@@ulthuncho7123 they are professional athletes coddled with overseeing healthcare and physio and compensated financially massively. if they have trouble being active for up to 120+mins a week then they should find another job to be honest 🤷.
So are we saying that players of successful clubs just don't get breaks/pre seasons anymore then? Season starts in August, play through until May, this tournament starts in June, even if it's done within a month (which normally a 32 team world cup does take a full month) means that players will be off in July, when pre season is going and need to be back at their clubs ready for August again. I know it's not every year so shouldn't be that big of a deal, but then you also have the World Cup and Euros in two of the 3 years that the Club World Cup isn't active, so players get one summer off every 4 years if they play for a big team? Sounds... Interesting.
I'm not sure what to make of this new competition. I love the idea of the Club World Cup, of bringing clubs from every part of the world, and am a big supporter of the current version, even attending a game this past edition in Morocco. But my biggest hesitation with this new version is that, in my opinion, club football should contain competitions that are played every year, not every four years. However, I will wait and see how this plays out as there is some good potential here, and it would be great to see club football get big outside of Europe too.
All the criticism of CWC is basically europeans not wanting anyone else to get a chance to compete with Europe. The new version of CWC is great and it would be even better if they can make it every 1 or 2 years.
I really like the proposed format, makes it easier to take the club world cup seriously. As mentioned by others in comments, it can’t really replace the UCL, since the UCL takes place yearly. As for players not getting that much rest, i guess it just pushes teams to have a deep squad, not the same starting 11 each matchday
As well-intentioned this may be for global club football, it's almost definitely just going to become a second Champions League every four years with a sprinkle of some South American teams and the odd upset making it to the latter stages of the tournament
It feels like it will be more like the FA Cup, there'll be a huge variety in the level of the clubs, and though everyone will love to see some plucky underdog beating someone they weren't expected to and everyone calling it a giantkilling, they'll still get Man City in the next round and get crushed. Then we'll end up with mostly European clubs in the quarters and probably all European clubs in the semis. I mean Europe and South America already completely dominate the world cup, and that is before nicking all the best players from the other confederations. I'm not sure if clubs from the weaker confederations being served up to get hammered by billion pound squads from Europe is really a good way of promoting the game in other continents, but maybe that's not the point and it's just the best option for FIFA making more money.
Honestly not the worst idea. The four year format would mean it's not a burden on players every summer. Main thing I find so funny is why FIFA are now suddenly keen on the 32 team format but getting rid of it for the World Cup 😅
i rather have 16 teams on Club World Cup with 1 year more that 32 teams on Club World Cup with 4 Years but at least there will be Europa League Style Club World Cup
I think making it every four years is a good idea and to be honest I’ve always been of the opinion that the title of being World Champions should have a heavier weight to it than it currently does in Europe.
Well why woud anyone in Europe care. The champions league has all theb est teams in the world and if you win that then you are the best in the world. Look at the curent club world cup, all but 4 wins are from european teams, the 4 wins coming from Brazil and they wherent in resent years. European clubs are dominating that competition too and they arent even taking it that seiously. No mather how we look at it who ever wins the Champions league is the best team in the world and whit the talent and money that Europe has it will remain the case for the future.

In the curent system teams like PSG and Man City are great since they have the money to compete whit the other clubs.
@@stefankatsarov5806the Club World Cup will include 4 of the champions league winners and the highest ranked UEFA teams, it’ll basically be the top of the top in Europe and the best teams outside of Europe. Just a more prestigious idea.
I remember a time up until just after the creation of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2000 where European teams and South American teams were practically tied when it came to World Championships. I think it was 22 titles vs 21 titles. The reality since then has been that the economics just will not allow South American teams to be successful outside of their own continent. European teams have won 16 titles to South America's 4 since then. South American teams simply cannot afford to keep their players as the European teams are so much more powerful economically. Players leave (and this isn't a criticism) South America because European teams are able to pay them so much more. One can see that if you break down the winning European teams since 2000 and analyze the nationalities of the players on the rosters. South American players (along with a lesser amount from other continents) were integrated into these teams whereas in the past you did not get such an expansive variety of nationalities representing club teams. I don't think FIFA would be able to rival UEFA. The best players have, do, and will continue to go ply their trade for UEFA teams. My apologies for the long winded post.
The problem is outside of Europe there is a massive drop off in quality. You see this when the current tournament plays out. I think FIFA are just after cash and European clubs should refuse to take part. Why play in a competition that will feel like a pre season tour
I think a club world cup every 2nd year would be really fun. One year, every continent have their CL football, and the year after that, a club world cup. Imo would be extremely fun to watch and also would be great for every club around the world.
Nope imo. 4 years is better for me. But in every 2nd year they can arrange a continental club cup with exactly the same format as current 7 team club WC format.
Great for every club in the world? You mean great for the top 0.1% clubs in the world who will take that money to even further dominate their domestic league? This tournament will not be about glory, it'll be about getting that prize money and expanding your business. Football giants are like mega-corporations, they wipe out all their competition, not because they have a better product, but because they're an unstoppable machine with the power to do anything they want. Club football, especially the top tiers, is ruined enough by greed already; the revamped Club World Cup - as it's planned right now - will just make it even worse
It wouldn’t be good for any club Teams want a chance of winning tournaments not getting knocked out by Man City or Real Madrid instead they’d much rather play in their own continents version of the champions league where they have a chance and actually go against similar rated teams. Not sure why anyone would want European giants to destroy smaller teams and just infest every continent with this problem. There’s not a single benefit to this club World Cup which was never designed to replace champions leagues or the copa libertadores
As an African I would happily welcome this idea, provided it doesn't clash with other competitions and players manage to get enough rest then I am all for it. Also a little biased but I would rather watch Al Ahly or Sundowns vs Madrid or Chelsea than watch Italy vs Senegal in the confederations cup.
i wonder why...almost as if they have a tournament that is much more prestigious and entertaining...also european teams are going to win this every single time
@@gautman-t7w Prestige doesn't necessarily mean more entertaining. I find a lot of the top leagues in Europe kind of boring. Yes, they have the top talent but they are extremely predictable. I usually skip the Champions League for example because I don't feel the stakes. I just don't. Unless we're talking about the teams fighting to avoid relegation, those are the only really entertaining matches. While, lets say the MLS, where the talent is inarguably much, much worse, it's a more exciting league to me. It's not predictable. Teams are a little more equal. And it holds my interest. With a very fat prize pot and world wide exposure, I think the competition would be a lot more intense than you think. One great thing about football, outside of the top leagues, is that anything can realistically happen.
@@gautman-t7wYeah that’s my issue with it too. The World Cup already is restricted enough with only 8 countries being able to win over 100 years and only European and South American countries having a chance at winning. But with a Club World Cup ONLY European nations will win and with European Clubs already having half of the slots what’s the point. I mean the Champions League already is becoming restricted with now only clubs from the top 5 leagues seemingly being able to win and adding all these weaker clubs from other continents will just make it even worse.
Will the FIFA Club World Cup surpass the UEFA Champions League??????... The answer to this question is simple, the Club World Cup "WILL" become the number one club completion, surpassing the European Champions League, and for one very good reason. In fact, it would already be the premier international club competition if it had done what it should have done in the first place i.e.... STAY IN ITS LANE!!! What makes the FIFA World Cup so delicious has always been the fact that it happens so infrequently, by mirroring its big brother, the Club World Cup will reap a similar reward. The European Champions League cannot hope to compete with its global equivalent once FIFA stops trying to compete with it on a year-to-year basis. For Example: Once upon a time, the English FA Cup used to be the most sought-after domestic trophy, even more important than winning the league or the old European Cup (now the Champions League). Why?... Because once upon a time (unless it happened to be a World Cup year) the FA Cup was the only live football game you would see on television. That made it soooo special to both players and fans alike. The two main TV networks would give it priority programming starting from early in the morning. Nowadays, with so much live football on TV, nobody really cares that much about winning it, certainly not anything like the desire to win the EPL. The FIFA World Cup on the other hand has not lost any of its appeal in the face of so much live football. And it never will. That four-year wait is always worth the wait and the FIFA "Club" World Cup on a four-year cycle will reap the benefit of this as well. SIDE NOTE: Had FIFA Implemented this format when it first had the idea way back in the late 70s, it would have been even more interesting and garnered even more interest, because back then there was a lot more parity between the leagues, certainly more parity between the European and South American Leagues. In fact, if the history of the Intercontinental Cup is any indication, the South American Clubs would most likely have come out on top. Africa would also have carried much more weight because most of its best and brightest players (like Cameroon Legend Roger Milla) would still have been playing for African clubs and no doubt would have viewed the tournament as the best way to get snapped up by the bigger and richer European clubs.
If the new champions league format is a pseudo European Super League, FIFA's new Club World Cup is bringing in a World Super League. I agree it's not great for European clubs with even more games to play, but a gentle reminder Europe isn't the be all and end all of football, there are other regions.
"other regions" lol, there are other websites besides youtube for videos, do you use them? only people in certain countries do but YT is the only one that matters because of quality/amount of content. European Football is the only one that matters to for being the top, elite division.
@@Real_SkyRipper If we go by your logic, why would you watch the world cup if European football is the only one that matters? Why watch anything but the Euros since "European Football is the only one that matters to for being the top, elite division."? Why would fans bother to support Boca Juniors, Santos, Palmeiras, Seatle Sounders, Al Hilal, Urawa Reds, Al Ahly, Auckland City, Orlando Pirates, when they can just support Manchester City because "European Football is the only one that matters to for being the top, elite division."? Football exists outside of Europe. That's why the World Cup is so special! I'm sorry to say this but your justification is a load of crap.
@shenko_ I’m not saying I agree with him but your analogy doesn’t make sense. You watch the World Cup because all of the best players from every country play in it, most of the countries don’t have strong leagues but some do well and have good players; for example Croatia or Brazil. However the majority of the Brazilian and Croatian national team players play outside their countries leagues and that’s why you would still watch the World Cup and every good player plays in it. Whereas you wouldn’t really bother to watch the Asian or Concacaf champions league rather than the European one because those competitions don’t contain the best players.
@@shenko_ who wins the world cups? people watch world cups because of european teams, remove them and have only asia vs africa and see how many will watch it lmao, also it's Nations so it's national pride, that's why so many watch it, even people not interested in football, you really gave a dumb example to try to prove me wrong, which you can't.
The Club World Cup should be held every 2 years but only the two successive champions of their continental cups plus the champion and runner-up of the previous CWC should be in it. The reason why the old format was a flop is because it was held annually, only had seven teams, had a lack of promotion and because the host country was also a part of it without being a continental champion, and it was usually hosted by UAE, Morocco, Qatar and Japan constantly. The host should be from one of the continental champions. It would have 14 teams altogether.
If we are going to decide who will be the best national team for four years would be why not the best club football in the world. I want to see a team from Asia go toe to toe with a team in europe not just the champions of their respective leagues.
One thing I heavily dislike is the idea that 8 european and 2 south american spots will be filled up by teams who haven’t earned their spot by winning a tournament but by being consistently okish over 4 years. It’s just a safety net for the big name clubs who regularly reach the quarter finals just by having more money than others and it will increase the money gap. It’s also ludicrous that a random team of the host nation just gets a spot while 3 champions of the Oceanic „champions league“ can’t compete. It should be 4 champions from all 6 continents (24 teams), then maybe the 4 losing finalists from the uefa and conmebol competitions to make it 32 teams, as those teams at least reached a final to deserve qualifying.
@@warrenzevon4994 it would be the same as giving one additional place in the Champions League to the nation that hosts the final. It would be ok if it weren’t on the expense of real champions from the (granted rather weak) ofc confederation.
@@chcucivtxzclccucifudohzfu6766 no it’s not like that at all. It’s a tournament held in one place over a few weeks. Just like the actual World Cup the host nation should be represented
First you need to take out the redundancy of the tournaments out there, like the Europa Conference League...take that competition out. I think Europe, only needs Champions League and Europa League. Other conferences could follow suit and use the winners of those tournaments to qualify for the club world cup. Continental organization should realistically have one major competition, and if they can a secondary tournament, just like Europe and South America. If this new club world cup works, im in agreement with some of the comments, one leg, straight knockout tournament, include successful teams from all around the world.
I’m a fan of the idea, but i’m not sure how exactly good the execution would be. The winner, and hell, probably all of the QF’s would almost certainly be completely European every year. Not that thats not how it is every year, but making a massive competition out of it is another thing. I also worry about player burnout. We’ve been seeing it more and more in recent times with how many more games have been played, and just adding another WC style tournament seems like it would definitely add to the injury crisis. They key to avoiding this would be to have bigger squads with more rotation players, which wouldn’t be an issue to to European clubs (except Liverpool), as they have money to spend, but smaller clubs from anywhere else wouldn’t have the money that have in Europe to compete. I do think it could be great motivation for smaller leagues/teams, though. Hopefully that extra push for big competition could improve leagues in the rest of the world. With that, I don’t think it will ever be able to be a perfectly fair competition, not by the fault of FIFA, just inherently. But, I would still love to see this competition play out, as I still think it’s a great thing for smaller clubs/leagues to be able to compete with bigger sides.
My only gripe with this is that we pretend like the biggest teams don't already have massive squads. The solution to potential player burnout is to simply trust more of your players. Instead of giving the most minutes to the same 16-18 players, spread the minutes more evenly to more of your fringe players. Salah, Bruno Fernandes & KDB don't need to be playing every League & FA Cup game. The biggest clubs in the world have some of the best academies with talented players. Use those players, and lighten the load on superstars.
How will FIFA react if Barca Bayern & Liverpool all send their u23 squads? The competition is dead in the water and FIFA don't make their TV revenues. Remember FIFA announced this bollocks without consulting the clubs.
@@RetroProg If the prize money is the same as in CL then nobody will want to send u23, the clubs will have to have two of the TEAM A and another Team B...which means clubs will have to increase their team size to at least 33 players which means more salaries, more trainers, more physiotherapists, more of everything... Bayern Munich has 27 players atm.
@@wokeaf1337 Yep, another term for Team B is.... The under 23s. and thats who'll play this hollow tournament that FIFA have been flogging for the last 50 years. NOBODY shows the club world cup and there will be little appetite for it in Europe, which is where the money is. FIFA couldn't run a piss up in a brewery and is institutionally corrupt with the new crook at the top no different than the last one. And, in the end, thats all this is, FIFA wanting more money as all the big bucks are with UEFA.
It doesn't always work like that bro.... U cant just field in a less inferior team especially in cup games when these mid table teams are fielding in there best. I remember one time when Liverpool fielded in their b team against Aston villa because the had a world club cup match. Aston villa fielded their best team and smashed Liverpool ! Only in a perfect world will this Ur theory work
It would be interesting to see if Esteghlal or Persepolis wins the AFC Champions League. When they are about to leave the country, the US DHS blocks their Visas
I think they're more likely to no block the visas of teams such as Real Madrid and Boca Juniors, it'll give the likes of LA Galaxy and Inter Miami a chance of winning!
I personally like it, and feel it won't take away from champions league. The only negative is on the players, as the world cup would be the next year, so for a lot of player it will be a busy two years. If it was in 2024 that would be better. A team from Europe is still likely to win it, but I think it would be more interesting.
The only problem I see is the calendars filling up more. I think, to combat this, the standard size of a league could be reduced from 20 to 18, or even 16. This would take 8 games off of a footballer's calendar, enough for the entire cwc tournament.
Never gonna happen, especially in England, because the money in the Premier League is so huge in comparison with the Championship that the clubs from the lower half of the table won't ever agree to it. And besides, I think it's a little unfair that international organizations like FIFA or UEFA keep increasing the number of games in their competitions or even creating brand new ones like in this case and the solution is supposedly to limit domestic competitions.

@@GNMbg And where is this magic money coming from???? The Champions League doesn't generate that sort of money with all the best teams on the planet in it. You really think TV rights in europe will be 1000% more than the CL????
Good idea and I firmly believe that the biggest club trophy should be the club world cup and and not something like UCLs. But honestly the whole point of this should be to grow local supports for clubs around the world and increase quality outside europe. With the propose set up, European teams will just dominate. They get 12 teams while the next region only gets 6? Like I get the logic behind it but the outcome would be no different than how it is now. You want clubs outside of europe to have a higher chance of winning. To do that means having less european clubs and more clubs from other regions. Ideally you want it to be as close to even as possible.
If you are a club that is not in Europe, I would agree with you but most clubs in Europe already consider the club world cup to be worthless and not worth putting in the effort to try and win it as the UCL has more money to be won and is more prestigious to win
@@samwade6935 Lol is that why they should get 12. I think the number of teams should be 16 with maybe half(7/8) from Europe and again it gives room to let the competition finish quickly. But lol I'm not complaining tho.

no this will never over. Take the Champions from the three main competitions (CL, Europa and Conf) seeing the same 12 teams from UEFA ranking year after year would get super boring
I'm loving this idea ❤ not just that clubs in other continents and nations can get some good attention and financial gain etc from this I'm all for itb
I think it’s interesting, certainly more so than the current format. I do wonder tho wether it will turn into just a second Champions League in that year, the competitiveness of the other confederations is very important. Next to the 48 team world cup and the two year cycle for international tournaments that is the only big idea by Infantino that I am moderately exited about. Btw had he got his wish with the two year cycle, where was the club world cup supposed to fit in the calendar? lol
As a brasilian i think brasilian clubs are the unoque that have chance to atleast reach quarter finals a team can change alot in 4 years and european clubs are very strong
This will be insane in terms of teams outside of Europe qualifying for a competition 4 years away. For example, I wouldn't be surprised if Fluminense are fighting relegation or already in Serie B by 2025. There's no consensus for how long a team can stay big, aside from current day Flamengo and Palmeiras no club is safe. The footballing landscape changes so often here that I wouldn't be surprised seeing truly awful teams competing at this new CWC. In Brazil it's not uncommon for a team to win the league then get relegated within 3 years. Clubs here are so unstable that after a good season they will lose half their players to Europe, struggle with finances and poor decision making and soon enough the team will be awful. Look at Cruzeiro, after 2014. Corinthians after 2005 and 2017. Flamengo after 2009. etc
So much can change so quick in club football, with players coming and going, international football, different thing, makes no sense to host this every 4 years, i can see what fifa want but, be interesting to see how it pans out
I simulated the CWC in FIFA 23. No team outside of europe got out of the RO16. All 12 european teams escaped the group. All the CWC is going to do is give more money to big european teams & make tournaments less and less even for smaller clubs.
That's by design. Expansion's true purpose wasn't to help Asia and Africa but to see that European and Sudamerican giants qualify and don't accidentally miss out like Italy did last time.

This is very unfair to great non-european teams. Think of 2019 Flamengo, or 2012 Corinthians. Some of these teams are legendary, but under this 4-year system, these squads would have been disbanded long before they ever have a chance to face the Europeans. Absolutely ruining South American's most desirable competition in favour of profits.
I love how he says "...football is not just about Europe..." and then allocates OFC 1 club (understandable), AFC and CAF 4 clubs, CONCACAF 5 clubs (4 + 1 for host), CONMEBOL 6 clubs, then gives UEFA an INSANE 12 clubs!!! I know they're popular but come on. It would have been more than fine to have 4 clubs from each. No one else will have a chance against that many clubs from UCL.
So here's an idea.... what do you guys think about an *appearance limiter* rule being introduced into football e.g players cannot exceed 40 apps a season etc. ? in that way football will become more competitive don't you think? and also... lesser players can get decent amounts of game time.. due to the fact that the stars will be limited to a fixed number of appearances.. what do you guys think?
No. CWC is boring enough as it is, because the non-european teams (excluding some from Conmebol) are terrible in comparison. Now imagine adding even more teams from those regions.
If a club in Poland, Croatia, Greece, Belgium, Turkey, Finland, etc. wins their domestic league, declaring themselves as the best team in their country, don’t they deserve a champions league qualification? Just by qualifying, how much money do they get? That’s a lot of money for those small teams. Why don’t they do that? Like the original format when it’s 1 club per country qualifying.
The issue of fatigue is overblown to me because nobody expects the same exact players to compete in league and cups and this too. Big teams have big squads. KDB and Haaland don't have to start vs Al Ahly when Alvarez is also there.
what do you think happens to this tournament when big clubs send their subs to play. Its gonna be seen as a second rate tournament and few will watch it. FIFA wants the big players to play.
That's true but looking at the Saudi league and the way things are moving, it looks like other regions will slowly build up over time - and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The way the Saudi's are doing it by breaching financial fair play is definitely to be discussed, but the general idea of clubs around the world being more competitive and bigger isn't necessarily the worst idea
It will fail. There clearly is Money from American and Saudis involved. But Teams from those regions Stück. I can See South American Teams winning and Europe Teams but Nobody Else
While I like the idea of club world cup being held every four years, I don't like the format. Giving too many slot for UEFA with most based on coefficients takes away the suspense. It'll be more competitive and less predictable if each federation can only send four teams: winner or runner-up (if a club wins consecutively like Auckland City) of each main major competition in the last four years. I want to see more unlikely clubs from around the world, not another UCL.
its not about competition, fairness or even sport in general - its all about the money. Making it more predictable and making best conditions to the richest clubs is what FIFA wants as it generates more money.
I think compeptition that using coeficient to rule the slot is a bit unfair, it makes big teams more rich and small team not have a chanace and cant get the benefit at all
I am not against this in theory but it does seem like 'if you build it they will come' idea rather than a guarantee of success. If the money is there the big clubs will go but I do not think the level of competition will be very good. The European clubs will crush everyone because they have the best talent. I can't see fans getting very excited seeing one of the European teams playing a team from Africa or South Korea for example. I am not saying the fans from those other regions are not important but Europe is the nexus of world football. The one thing that could upset them is whether or not the top clubs send their best players. Pro athletes need an off-season and the European regular season is still more important because it qualifies you for the European club competitions. To me, this seems like another front in the struggle between FIFA and UEFA about more control over world football rather than the best interest of the game.

As a football fan that isnt European or a fan of any European team or league, I really hope the Club world cup gets more relevant and important than the champions. I will never get to experience the atmosphere of my favorite team playing in the champions league, but maybe seeing them play in the club world cup will have the same atmosphere and excitement.
Idk the CL is basically a “National League” at some point, because Europe is quite close and confined. It is harder and more expensive for fans to travel to distant countries. So for the atmosphere I think it wouldn’t be comparable. When your team plays in South America for example you have to fly to the other side of the world just to compete against someone you don’t have any rivalry with because they play on a complete different continent and sometimes you hear the name for the first time especially when it comes to Asian teams. There are also countries where football isn’t really the most popular sport. China, India, Japan, Pakistan for example
@@poppi510 The proposal is for it to be like a world cup, run over 1 month in a host country (USA for 2025) you wouldn't have fans flying out to loads of different continents to follow their team, if you want to go you just go to the one host country for all the matches that tournament.
Not a bloody chance. You do not re-create a UCL match atmosphere at the Nou Camp or Anfield in a neutral ground. Ticket prices will mean you will get lots of corporate tickets that bring zero atmosphere. Infantino is infantile in believing he can create a similar atmosphere to a club ground.

I thought of these too, but I consider it a non issue. Football in our era is purely transfer driven.
My own issues with the competition is it has the possibility of clashing with national team competition & representation and offers the players little time to rest & recover.

Perfectly packaging, perfect delivery. Clearly did your research. Great video 👌
If we are going to decide who will be the best national team for four years would be why not the best club football in the world. I want to see a team from Asia go toe to toe with a team in europe not just the champions of their respective leagues.

What pre-season friendly is this that rewards €50M just for participating?
Inter Miami vs Al Nasir at the club cup would be spicy
Lol why do people act like Messia and Ronaldo are arch nemesis
Having the host nation get a team is completely reasonable.
@@warrenzevon4994 it would be the same as giving one additional place in the Champions League to the nation that hosts the final. It would be ok if it weren’t on the expense of real champions from the (granted rather weak) ofc confederation.

Rasmus Højlund sustained a small injury in pre-season with Atalanta
To be honest they need to play youth players or players who are in the fringe because this shouldn't be worth player burntout
And where is this prize money going to magically come from?? CL is shown in every country in europe and many many more outside.
Only in a perfect world will this Ur theory work
Just to be clear, the current format is preserved in the Intercontinental Cup. And of course, Europe gets byes STRAIGHT TO THE FINAL.
Yeah , great idea, 16 clubs per leagues max
Never gonna happen, especially in England, because the money in the Premier League is so huge in comparison with the Championship that the clubs from the lower half of the table won't ever agree to it. And besides, I think it's a little unfair that international organizations like FIFA or UEFA keep increasing the number of games in their competitions or even creating brand new ones like in this case and the solution is supposedly to limit domestic competitions.

UEFA cares about champions league. FIFA cares about club world cup. Neither team cares about the players or the game. Money

The only problem with this new format is why use 4 year gap and why europe have 8 best eligible club in 4 years? The squad who won cl in 2021-2024 would be different in wcc 2025 due to transfers windows. The best eligible club in Europe is too much compare to other continent comenbol have 2,AFC 1,OFC 1,CAF 1 yet european club have 8 this will make European club even more dominating the wcc.

Very good ideas. Should be every 2 years not a big fan of four years.

Keep the champions league as it is!
Too Late. The Swiss system comes into play next season and it sucks balls.
Flamengo after 2009. etc
Nothing beats the Champions League
except the world cup
So much can change so quick in club football, with players coming and going, international football, different thing, makes no sense to host this every 4 years, i can see what fifa want but, be interesting to see how it pans out
I simulated the CWC in FIFA 23. No team outside of europe got out of the RO16. All 12 european teams escaped the group. All the CWC is going to do is give more money to big european teams & make tournaments less and less even for smaller clubs.
That's a simulation.
