- I’m back with my haul of fabric and other sewing items that I’ve been promising you for a little while, most of which was purchased using discount codes from the fold line sewing weekender, with a few more bits of fabric tacked onto the end. I’ve also got a new make to show you.
Everything I mentioned is linked below.

Until next time, happy sewing!

What a beautiful selection of fabrics ❤. You did make me laugh with your 'dermatitis' fabric 😂😂😂
Thank you! Yes, I couldn’t believe the dermatitis “diagnosis”!
I'd love to see a vlog of what you took to the Open. I am currently discovering the gaps in my summer wardrobe as it's scorching at the moment but as we know in the UK it can change any minute and I'm conscious of the gaps in my autumn/winter wardrobe as well.
Hi Avril. I’ll definitely film something on what I took as just about all of it would work well as transitional pieces for the late summer/early Autumn. Thanks so much for commenting!
xXX👍👍👍
Thank you Victoria xxx
Thanks for the Google lens tip! Sewing is so expensive these days and I’m especially unhappy with the price of fabrics. Trying to make my wardrobe as inexpensively as possible, so thank you very much for your video and tips regarding discounts, too! ❤😊
No problem! Keep an eye out this weekend as some online fabric stores aren’t going to the Knitting and Stitching Show but are doing discounts over the weekend.
Fab vlog Laura. I haven’t heard of google lens. I’ll give it a go. I love your fabrics. I’ve messaged you on Insta. We have the same plans on one of your fabrics. That made me smile. X
Thanks, Anne. Hope you have been having a good holiday.
Love the first dress you showed and the burda top. Curious about the top whether it is supposed to fall on your actual shoulder or rather like a cap sleeve. If I were going to make it I would have it fit the natural shoulder line. The Frieda blouse would be lovely in that blue print. I thought the last fabric you showed with the rest and blue looked really good against your face. PS. In case you noticed I comment as I watch the video, otherwise I forget the particulars. Hope you have a good week!
Thanks! I think the Burda top falls on the natural shoulder from what I remember when I traced the pattern. I love that blue colour too. Hoping it will make a great blouse. Thanks for your lovely comments.
I bought the silicone hemmer from the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show, and I have to say I'm not that impressed. Tried it on a curved hem, but it was difficult getting the curve to match and moving it along just didn't work - it was all wonky. Turning the fabric over the edge of the hemmer does not make a definite crease due to the thickness of the hemmer. Will stick to my hem gauge.
Yes, it’s certainly thicker than I expected. Reserving judgement at the minute for sure! Thanks for letting me know your experience, much appreciated!
