Marty, it is an amazing tutorial. Sorry because I do not speak English very well, but you are an excellent teacher. Your system is the best. Thank you so much
Hi Marty and thank you for the valuable lessons I couldn't do this example because the "Threshold" become invisible after I change the image into smart object. I'm using older version of Photoshop is there is a way that I can do it please? thanks
Another great tutorial! Thank you. I’m exploring ideas for a Soviet era style poster and this tutorial is a good start. Are there any tips for making the main subject’s lines more angular?
Since I've been doing PS tutorials since 2011, I've always used the most current version at the time I've done each one. In 2011, I was using CS5 Extended. I did this one in CC 2019.
You can download the most recent version of Photoshop by subscribing to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan. For $9.99 p/month (USD), you get Photoshop + Lightroom + 20 GB of cloud storage. adobe.ly/2rlcoP7
At the beginning of the video the photo of the girl transitions from photo to threshold. But at roughly 00:13 the image is a mix of photo and threshold, in colour. That effect looks amazing.
Is it 8 bits/Channel or 16 bits? Must be 8 bits. You may want to reset your Preferences. Go to Edit > Preferences and click "Reset Preferences On Quit".
I did that 20 years ago with Corel Trace to transform photos into vector graphics to cut them with a cutting plotter, Without photoshop :-) These graphics I used for stickers and much more :-) Not for printing but cutting, but that was also possible !

Your tutorials have been very helpful. However. . . things were going fine on this one until just after applying gaussian blur. I went to Image/Adjustments and found Threshold ghosted (not available). That, of course, stopped me dead in my tracks. I'm using Photoshop CS6. I've backtracked several times, but the conclusion was always the same.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thanks for the quick reply. However, RGB, 8-bits/channel is my default mode. The only active option available for the smart object layer is "Shadows/Highlights".
@Blue Lightning TV Photoshop I retried the process without converting to a smart object and the Threshold option became available. I was then able to get the desired image.
It could be due to multiple reasons. One would have to inspect your PSD to determine the source of the problem. The first thing I'd do is to go to Image > Mode > RGB color, 8 bits/Channel.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thanks man I can now activate the threshold if I don't make it into a smart object tho. Works but not as cleanly as yours. But thanks nonetheless. Love your work
When your intent is to print an image, always start with a resolution of 300 ppi and a width & height that approximates the final size that you want the image to be. The amounts in the Layer Style settings will have to be increased to address the larger size and resolution. Hope that helps. :-)
I’m not going to do a portrait but the techniques used here can help me for my current photoshop project. Thanks Marty! This was released at the perfect time for me. 🙂
Dear, Marty! Admire your skill endlessly forever! Your fan for ever.

Can these works then be printed on large canvases. What size can you enlarge to and still get good resolution .
