Omg thank you, someone finally mentioned the fingerboard flat ground stutter My arm just stiffens up and just doesn’t let me do anything, I knew about using object to do the actual trick
Try breathing and focusing on your breath. This one actually helped me out a lot, as I noticed that I literally hodl my breath when I try to pop up. Force yourself to breathe regardless and try to match your pop with your exhale. Hope this help!
I practiced riding off the edge of a table til the wheels were all off so the tail hits the edge hard, then hold it there... to get used to the pop feeling. Then I would roll the board to the edge of the table til the tail was over the edge, press down like the edge is a lip then practice where my fingers/hand gotta be to elevate the board up and off forward from the ledge. I practiced the pop/jumping over stuff by using my left hand's finger(s) just holding them down on the table from the edge then try popping over them. Just those 3 things got me from not being able to ollie at all to being able to ollie high enough to jump over pretty much anything in just less than a week. Fingerboarding is too fun! Super glad I got back into it! I got my first one back in the early 2000's. Helped get me through middle and high school, lol
Hi Gripsion, I have seen it pop up many times in social fingerboarding groups, that jerked wrist hesitation you mentioned, in Golf when putting its called 'the yips' you should read about it, it's well documented. Basically it's a mind over matter thing and is usually caused from unsuccessful, continuous drills and focus on one or two movements rather than a start, middle and end smooth flow through. The best remedy is to, when stuck on a move, and your wrist locks up and produces short, snappy attempts with no results is to open up, do some exercises your good at and just let go of pushing ahead, have fun doing what you know, take a few breaths, relax and have another crack.
Hey bro can you share some insightful articles about this. I'm experiencing it now not just on fb but also on my other hobbies like.guitar and basketball.
just assembled my G15.12 Flatface...boi oh boi...tried a kickflip since I could never get them consistently on my old AF and highly tuned techdeck... believe it or not, first try landed one...and another, and another...then tried a double KF....booom, first try...I´m already in love I think... certainly will take a lot of effort to get the hang of other tricks I had "on lock" with the TD...heelflips for now are broken, but since the TD ones were semi-pressure HF, I am not that surprised...only grievance I have is the supplied griptape (riptape I think)...I might cover that in actual duct tape for proper grip, that rubber foam just slips and slips and slips... as for the stutter, don´t worry guys...still happens to me every now and then (especially if I want a thing to happen and overthink it) and I have been in the game since...forever, like two decades (on&off, but you hardly unlearn how to...it´s like riding a bicycle)
Awesome vid! Great tips bro , been skating forever just started to learn fingerboarding it's just like learning to skate again . Having a lot of fun thanks for this vid helps a lot . In day 3 atm so still learning to Ollie so hard . But any more tip vids would be amazing
Man, I litreally just had the stutter issue again just now. It comes and goes, but I am confident that it will go away. I dropped some replies to some peeops, but here it is again: Check your breathing! I noticed that I hold my breath when I am about to pop and when that happens, your body freezes up in order to conserve air and help you not suffocate. Exhale, breathe in, try to sync your breathing with your riding and that helps out a lot.
Hey new fingerboarder here , I’ve been watching your vids , I have a teak tuning complete fingerboard, but wanted to put together my own of different parts that I like , I was on your site , and saw you have trucks , is that the price for a pair ? Or is that each ? Thanks in advance Alex keep doing your thing, from a fan in Illinois
Hey grip 👋🏻, also you actually got me into this 😅😂, one of your videos popped up on my feed and i pressed it because I didn’t know what a fingerboard was at the time 😅, then I watched it and then I asked my mom to buy me one and as funny as it sounds I used a bunch of home items to make my first one but about half a month later my mom got me a tech deck and then I got a pro fingerboard it was the giraffe graffiti of teak I think, and I stopped for a while and now imma start again 😊
i need help how to control the board after pop, like when its on air i cant control my finger,it just let go like normal ollie,so i cant control my finger for kickflip
I can’t even Ollie a finger board I have 3 but just don’t get the pop off the kick tail at all using middle finger as if it was a right foot and pointer finger as if was left foot tbh haven’t practiced much but I’m really struggling compared to a real life skateboard
i want to learn how to nollie but my brain already registered my middle finger as the finger that i used for popping the board and now when i try to nollie it just wont pop because i always use my middle finger to pop not the index
Are you holding your breath when you try to pop? If you are, then your body freezes up in order to save you from suffocating. Force yourself to breathe.
when I was starting with fingerboarding i didnt have a problem with poping the board but one day my techdeck flew out of a window in my class and after that i had the pop thing and it was really frustraitng I dont know what helped me but it just stop hapening when I tryied to do a kickflip even though I didnt exactly know how to ollie
Can you do a video about how to use obstacles? I have no skateboarding background and I have been finger boarding for the past 5 months. BTW your videos have helped me progress a lot not only with tricks but also with the tools. I've got 2 obstacles a rail and the teck deck shred pyramid and I find myself not knowing how to shred for lack of a better way to say it lol
I found the best way to learn how to "pop" or ollie was to do it on the side of your knee. For some reason, it helps you learn the motions much quicker without dropping the board a million times. I've always practiced on the side of my knee and it's how I learned to do all the basic flip tricks. It gets super complicated busting flips into grinds n such. But definitely if the traditional way of tape and pens doesn't work, try your knee.
When I would get jammed for committing to the trick I just put my extra finger boards in the middle of my desk so I had to do the Ollie to get to the other ramps

Dude I had that finger stutter for like 3 months and I nearly quit fingerboarding. Thank you for this!
I had it for like6 moths
I still got it, help!!!
I hate when that happens
Started 200. Stopped. Started again and now it’s happening again in 2024 2:48
I just took a break from fingerboarding then when I started again the pop stutter was gone
Omg thank you, someone finally mentioned the fingerboard flat ground stutter
My arm just stiffens up and just doesn’t let me do anything, I knew about using object to do the actual trick

It helped me out a bit but when I try slides or grind flip out, it comes back 2:54

We all can’t wait until Alex gets 1,000,000 subscribers
yes sir
Filming your own tricks with slo motion really helps too then you can see what you're doing right and where you could improve or clean up a trick
thank you so much for bringing up the brain not letting you pop the fingerboard. i’ve never seen another person bring it up! i thought i was alone lol
