We just went through this last week in Cape Coral. God bless the people that lost their homes and hopes for a speedy rebuild. This is awful! What is up with this weather?
GOD BLESS everyone who lost their homes and hopes for a speedy rebuild. One who does not believe in God would not know why people would be blessed by him. Flip off, you potty mouthed heathen. Done responding to the likes of dirt like you.
+Jamaal George there have been over 900 tornadoes rated EF1 in Florida, that number drops to 300 for EF2 tornadoes. There have been 38 tornadoes rated EF3 or stronger, and only 2 tornadoes rated EF4 or stronger.
I WAS UP LATE READING WHEN MY EMERGENCY SIREN IN MY PHONE BLASTED A EMERGENCY ALERT. I LOOKED AT THE MESSAGE,AND IT SAID TO TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY,BECAUSE I WAS ON THE PATHWAY OF AT LEAST TWO OF THE FOUR TORNADOES THAT MOVED BY ME IN THE EARLY HOURS,ABOUT 3:00 A.M. TO 4:00 A.M.. I CALLED AND WOKE UP ALL OF MY FAMILY TO BE PREPARED AND WATCH THE WEATHER REPORT,AND DO EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS TO DO.. MISSED US BY A FEW BLOCKS AND PRAYERS TO THE FAMILY THAT LOST THEIR FAMILY THAT WILD STORMY EARLY MORNING.
+Keith Spencer I'm the SCV stringer in Sarasota who shot this along with the overnight in-storm video. I have both NWS weather radio and Verizon. Both of these alerted. However, most the home owners I talked to at the aftermath scene said their Verizon phone is what woke them and they took cover. Since this isn't tornado alley, most don't use NWS weather radio alerts. IMO, Verizon's warning system reduced injuries here and may have saved some lives as well.
Man, that's a lot of damage. Hard to imagine the power of the wind until you see the aftermath. Thanks for sharing the video. Nice job.
I was in Bradenton at the moment, omfg I didn't realize a tornado was just in the next city! No wonder the weather sucked.
I didn't think I'd ever go through an EF2 tornado, an EF0 maybe, but not 2.

There was a tornado in Hobe Sound aswell
Brian, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that every tornado in Florida is rated Ef2.
+Jamaal George Most are EF0 in FL. This is on the strong end and characteristic of FL winter tornadoes and enhanced by El Nino.
Oh ok

Oh crap I'm scared
Was it really a tornado or was it just strong winds?
It was a tornado. They appeared overnight due to really strong winds. Three of them hit, too.
Puddles Meh I dunno. I nevrr take the warnings seriously anyways. I typically just sleep through them since none of them are dangerous lol
